Thousand Dusts Ferry Me - Chapter 13
After appreciating the sword for a while, they planned to rest. Cheng Suiyan arranged two premium “Tianzi” rooms for them, instructed the attendant to bring some late-night snacks, and agreed to have breakfast together the next morning.
……
Jiang Baiyu only drank a cup of clear tea, didn’t touch any of the late-night snacks, and began to meditate on the bed.
The tassels hung low from the ceiling, with red gauze curtains gathered at both ends of the bed like two wisps of light red smoke.
The red candle burned bright, casting a soft yellow light on his face, making his facial features more distinct, appearing vivid and beautiful.
There was a slight noise by the window. Jiang Baiyu opened his eyes and alertly asked, “Who’s there?”
The window screen was slit open, and someone outside softly said, “Young Master, it’s me.”
Jiang Baiyu walked to the window and pushed it open. An agile figure flipped into the room.
After entering, the person knelt on one knee before Jiang Baiyu, “Greetings, Young Master.”
Jiang Baiyu stood with his hands behind his back, “It’s you.”
“Young Master, I was sent by the Sect Leader to escort you back to the mountain.”
Jiang Baiyu’s eyes flickered, then he suddenly laughed coldly, “You still have the nerve to come here? That day when my father ordered you to kill those two young girls, you couldn’t even handle that! If not for your failure, how would I have ended up in this situation?!”
This person was Yu Beiting.
Yu Beiting lowered his body anxiously, “I know my crime! I came today to make amends by escorting Young Master back. Once Young Master returns to the mountain, I’ll accept whatever punishment you deem appropriate!”
“I’m not going back.”
Yu Beiting looked up and asked, “Is Young Master concerned about the Mother-Child Pill matter?”
Jiang Baiyu didn’t speak, just narrowed his eyes.
Yu Beiting quickly explained, “The Sect Leader has become aware that that demoness refined the Mother-Child Pill. The Sect Leader asked me to tell you—”
“What did he say?”
Yu Beiting lowered his voice a bit more and said, “The Sect Leader says that Young Master is immune to all poisons, so the Mother-Child Pill cannot harm you in the slightest. Therefore, you can return without worry.”
“I said, I’m not going back.”
“Young Master?” Yu Beiting saw that the Young Master was unwavering and thought that the Young Master simply didn’t trust him. Further talking would be useless; it would be better to take direct action.
With this thought, Yu Beiting gritted his teeth and said, “Young Master, forgive me!” Suddenly he lunged forward, trying to forcibly knock Jiang Baiyu unconscious to take him away.
He reached out to press Jiang Baiyu’s shoulder, but Jiang Baiyu dodged. After his first attempt failed, he tried to grab Jiang Baiyu’s arm.
His movements were as fast as lightning, but Jiang Baiyu was even faster. After evading several consecutive attempts, Jiang Baiyu finally lost patience and raised his foot.
Bang!
Yu Beiting took the kick squarely in his chest and flew away like a sheet of paper, crashing heavily into the wall.
The wooden wall shook, and then with a loud crash—the entire wall collapsed, leaving a large hole.
Yu Beiting, along with a pile of wooden debris, fell onto the floor of the adjacent room, sliding some distance due to the impact’s momentum.
Sitting on the floor, clutching his chest, Yu Beiting’s face was filled with shock. How could their Young Master possibly have such martial skills?
Equally shocked were Yun Qing and Fu Xue.
The two were happily eating wine-soaked rice balls when suddenly a grown man came crashing through the wall. Yun Qing practically jumped from her chair, drawing her sword and pointing it at the person on the floor.
What made it even funnier was that she still had a rice ball in her mouth, her right cheek bulging into a round lump, while fiercely pointing her sword.
Jiang Baiyu found her appearance extremely amusing and had to use all his strength to suppress his rising smile.
Fu Xue asked curiously, “Huh? Isn’t this Yu Beiting? Why aren’t you being arrogant anymore?”
Perhaps provoked by her words, Yu Beiting coughed up a mouthful of fresh blood while clutching his chest.
Yun Qing glanced at Jiang Baiyu on the other side of the wall and demanded, “What’s going on?”
Jiang Baiyu gracefully stepped through the wall to her side, pointed at Yu Beiting on the floor, and said in an accusatory tone, “He hit me.”
His righteousness made Yun Qing momentarily wonder if she’d gone blind.
Fu Xue was more direct, “More like you nearly beat him to death, right?”
Yun Qing then asked Yu Beiting, “What are you doing here?”
Yu Beiting ignored her. He got up, knelt on one knee before Jiang Baiyu, and spoke urgently and sincerely:
“Young Master! Everything I said earlier is true. You’re the Sect Leader’s biological son; the Sect Leader wouldn’t harm you!”
Fu Xue curiously asked Jiang Baiyu, “What did he tell you earlier?”
Without any hesitation, Jiang Baiyu betrayed Yu Beiting, answering, “He said I’m immune to all poisons, and a mere Mother-Child Pill can’t harm me at all.”
“Huh? And then you beat him until he coughed blood?” Fu Xue thought, this Jiang Baiyu seems to have some kind of mental illness…
“No, he was getting handsy with me,” Jiang Baiyu explained, while discreetly glancing at Yun Qing.
“I did not! That’s not true!” Yu Beiting really hadn’t expected that the Young Master would not only betray him so easily but also casually throw such accusations at him.
He was so upset that he coughed up another mouthful of blood. Clutching his chest, he explained, “I only wanted to take you away…”
Yun Qing pinched the bridge of her nose. This hostage’s loyalty to his kidnapper was so intense that it made her feel confused.
Regardless, she believed that when things are abnormal, there must be something strange going on. The more peculiar the situation, the more dangerous it could be.
Although she knew it was dangerous, she still needed to keep Jiang Baiyu. After all, to find her master now, she could only start with Jiang Binghe.
Yun Qing waved her hand at Yu Beiting, “You may leave. If you don’t leave now, you’ll just get beaten again, which would be pointless.
Go back and tell Jiang Binghe that if he doesn’t reveal my master’s whereabouts, I’ll turn his ungrateful deeds into plays for people to circulate, letting everyone in the world know what kind of person the Huayang Sect Leader really is.”
“You—!” How Yu Beiting wished to teach this impudent girl a lesson along with the Young Master, but looking at the Young Master, he saw that he was completely unmoved.
Yu Beiting’s fighting spirit seemed to be doused with cold water. He could only get up and leave dejectedly.
Before leaving, he left his sword for Jiang Baiyu’s protection. This way, he would have something to report when facing the Sect Leader.
This sword was one of the black and white twin swords he had used during his ambush at the inn that night. The black sword was named Cangye, and the white sword was named Suyue.
The two swords were bestowed upon him by the Sect Leader after he participated in suppressing the “Cold Heron Rebellion.” Of the pair, Suyue had been destroyed, leaving only Cangye.
Yun Qing didn’t know what material the sword was made from. She only saw that the scabbard was entirely black, and the blade was as sharp as frost.
Jiang Baiyu pushed the blade out just a little bit, and she immediately felt a chilling aura emanating from it. She couldn’t help but exclaim, “What a fine sword!”
Hearing the praise from behind, Yu Beiting thought, at least you recognize quality.
As he opened the door, he looked back once more and saw that the iron-head girl had already claimed the Cangye sword for herself and had tossed her own steel sword to the Young Master.
Yu Beiting clutched his chest, and his vision darkened.
