Yandere Movie Queen, So Adorable! - Chapter 66
Chapter 66: Polishing the Stone
Mo Yan carried the sleeping Su Bao out of the car. When he felt her warm breath against his neck, his entire body stiffened even more.
He felt like he was holding a hot potato!
There was an overwhelming urge to just drop her on the ground and be done with it.
Fu Lang: …
Sigh, he thought, this guy is hopeless!
“Look at how you’re holding her. It’s obvious you’ve never held a girl before!” Fu Lang teased.
Mo Yan, practically grinding his teeth, retorted, “Then why don’t you hold her?”
Fu Lang quickly waved his hands in refusal. “I haven’t been eating or sleeping well these past few days. My arms and legs feel weak just walking! What if I drop our Xiao Bao? That’d be an unforgivable sin!”
With Su Bao still asleep in his arms, Mo Yan followed Fu Lang into the carving shop.
The shop owner looked startled…
After all, two grown men walking in, one of them holding an unconscious little girl, and the one holding her looking stiff as a board—it screamed suspicious!
“What’s this? Kidnapping? Planning to hide her in my shop?” the shop owner joked.
Fu Lang nearly jumped out of his skin. “Hey! I just did business with you not long ago! Don’t you remember me? I’m the guy who had you carve five jade pendants!”
The shop owner snapped out of it. “Oh, it’s you. Sorry, I deal with so many customers, I didn’t recognize you.”
Fu Lang pulled out the fist-sized rock from the plastic bag and handed it to the shop owner.
“Here. I bought this rock from you last time but didn’t have it opened. I’m here today to have you crack it open!”
The shop owner looked indifferent. “That’s it? How do you want it opened?”
In his mind, he figured they could just slice it in half with one clean cut.
After all, he’d been in the jade business on Jade Street for years. Even professional stone gamblers would carefully select their rocks, and even then, finding something valuable was rare. With a rock this size, the chances of finding jade inside were slim to none.
Fu Lang thought for a moment. “Polish it! Don’t just cut it open. What if there’s something valuable inside and you damage it?”
He remembered how Xiao Bao had clung to this rock, almost ready to take a bite out of it. Fu Lang had this inexplicable trust in her—there had to be something inside that Xiao Bao liked!
The shop owner chuckled.
“Polish it, huh?”
Polishing a stone involved using machinery to carefully grind away the outer layer bit by bit. It was a meticulous and time-consuming process, typically reserved for stones that were almost guaranteed to contain jade.
“You’re pretty confident in your luck, huh, young man?” the shop owner asked with a smirk.
At the mention of “luck,” Fu Lang’s mood soured.
“Just polish the damn stone! Whether there’s jade inside or not is my business!”
Damn it!
He trusted ghosts more than his own luck!
Luck? If he had any, would he be dealing with ghosts haunting him for no reason?!
The shop owner tossed the rock from hand to hand before heading to the back to start polishing it.
The sound of the machinery was loud, and Su Bao’s ears twitched slightly before she woke up.
Still nestled against Mo Yan’s shoulder, she rubbed her head against him like a little hamster burrowing into its nest.
Mo Yan took a deep breath.
His body stiffened.
In his mind, he cursed.
Not again!
He was absolutely fed up with this feeling!
Women—they were nothing but trouble!
After a bit more burrowing, Su Bao seemed to shake off her sleepiness. She finally lifted her head, her eyes half-lidded with drowsiness…
