A Straightforward Swimsuit Episode 1
“Right, right. I see, it’s like this.”
Several minutes later.
“Shinichi, Shinichi, Shinichi…!”
I was walking on the beach, hearing voices in stereo from both sides.
The other four had changed into swimsuits, but only Sakiho remained in her regular clothes.
Sakiho clung to me, not even sparing the time to change.
She was so eager that she seemed about to follow me into the changing tent, so when I told her to “wait here” at the entrance,
“Okay, you promise, right? You’ll definitely come back, right? I’ll be waiting for you, Shinichi, forever and ever…?”
I was given a heavy send-off as if I were heading off to war, and three minutes later, when I safely returned from the changing room,
“Shinichi, I’m so glad. I didn’t know what I’d do if you didn’t come out…”
I received an enthusiastic welcome.
It’s odd for me to say this, but it seems the day I was away made Sakiho very anxious.
I mean, this hasn’t happened before, so what did she do when I went to Bali with Oosaki, or even more so, when I went on a school trip to Hokkaido in junior high…?
“Hey, Sakiho. When I went on the school trip in my third year of junior high…”
“I skipped school and followed you. I booked a room on the same floor in the hotel across from yours.”
“Ah, I see…”
Yandere as expected. The fact that she booked a hotel across, not the same hotel, shows Sakiho’s dedication and is kind of terrifying.
Well, I understand Sakiho’s behaviour .
The problem, though, is my right hand, which is being held in a lover’s clasp.
“It’s not bad, after all.”
“…What isn’t?”
“The mood!”
The owner of my right hand—Shibuya Yuu’s smile is brighter than usual and quite something, but still, her words and intentions are unclear.
“Hey, Yuu. It’s about time you told me. What exactly were you…”
“No way!!”
Just as I was about to press Yuu for answers, a shrieking voice came from behind.
“Yuu-chan has been in the way since earlier! The right side of Shinichi-kun is Ria’s special seat! Yuu-chan was with him on the ship, right? It’s Ria’s turn next!”
Ria.
Aside from Sakiho, who was suffering from withdrawal symptoms, Ria couldn’t stand Yuu acting like she owned the place next to me.
“It’s not like the rules this time are about taking turns but about choosing the same as Shin. I just chose the same as Shin both times. Totally fair and square.”
“Ugh…”
Ria is rendered speechless by Yuu’s counterattack.
“What’s with that loss during the first 【Destiny’s Choice】, Ria? Not just choosing wrong but cheating and getting a penalty is super lame.”
“If cheating, Yuu-chan did the same in season 1!”
“I’m not saying “don’t cheat.” Just saying if you cheat, you gotta win, or it’s lame.”
There we go, Yuu’s bizarre philosophy.
“Muuu! So, as long as I win the competition, it’s okay, right?”
Ria puffs up her cheeks cutely and glares at Yuu, then looks at me.
“【Destiny’s Choice】, bring it! Rii wants to compete with Yuu-chan!”
I see. It makes sense since just idly walking around with all five of us won’t do.
“It’s comprehensible. That means, even though it’s a competition between the two of you, Maon and the rest of us get dragged into it, right?”
“Well, that’s the rule, so it can’t be helped.”
Maon and Kanda sigh in exasperation, and I casually glance to the left.
“Shinichi?”
Even if I try to sneak a glance, when the other person is staring, our eyes meet instantly. Might as well take a good look, I thought, and stared back at Sakiho.
“Staring at me like that, have you realized how important I am to you?”
Sakiho stiffens her face as she says this.
“…No, that’s not it.”
Realizing my true intentions, Sakiho quickly averts her gaze.
“I’m still feeling sick…”
“Good to hear you’re feeling better.”
Contrary to my words, Sakiho’s complexion has improved significantly.
With that, it might be time to move the conversation forward.
As I send the signal, everyone’s smartwatches beep.
“…Shinichi’s mean streak.”
The 【Destiny’s Choice】 I sent was this:
=====
【Destiny’s Choice】
What shall we do now?
A: Beach Volleyball
B: Beach Flags
=====
“Let’s choose something different from Yuu-chan, okay?”
“I’ll pick what I think is right. I’ll tell you what I chose, so if Ria wants to choose something different from me, go ahead.”
“Why not discuss it?”
Ria puffs up adorably in frustration.
“I want to be number one by my own choice. I don’t need anyone else’s opinion for that.”
“Geez, Yuu-chan, you’re not suited to be an idol, you know? You can’t choose your member color or your part in the song by yourself!”
“Member color…? I don’t know about that, but I’m not an idol.”
Well, as usual (or again?), there’s some sense in what Yuu says.
“Come on, both of you. That’s why Hirakawa made it a sport that can still be a competition no matter which he chooses. For now, isn’t it okay for both of you to just choose what you think?”
“Hmm.”
“As usual, you’re sulking like a child…”
It seems everyone has made their choice, and the results are displayed on the air display of their smartwatches.
=====
The date will continue with those who chose “A: Beach Volleyball” similar to Shinichi-sama:
Shibuya Yuu-sama
Hirakawa Maon-sama
Meguro Ria-sama
A total of 3 people.
=====
“What, I ended up choosing the same as Ria!”
“See… now it’s not even a competition!”
“It’s odd, Sakiho-san. I thought you knew everything about Onii-chan.”
Out of the three remaining, Maon sighs, somewhat exasperated and disappointed.
“Ah… How did it come to this, I wonder… Maybe I got a bit dull from being away from Shinichi?”
Sakiho laughs self-deprecatingly, looking down.
“Ah, I’m also disqualified. I thought Hirakawa preferred individual sports over team sports.”
Next to her, Kanda scratches her cheek and says.
Indeed, I considered that.
Using 【Destiny’s Choice】 like in the casino time, I could have organized a beach flag tournament, ending with a one-on-one date with the last person standing. It would have been a choice that fit my current principle of action.
However, I ruled out beach flags.
After all, “being fast” doesn’t even scratch the surface of the criteria I’m looking for in a marriage partner. It’s more beneficial to see if they can play as a team.
We are currently recruiting. CN/KR/JP Translators/MTLers are welcome!
