“Father, are you really going?”

Agnès let out a sigh as she held her travel bag. Her travel outfit was already prepared, and all that was left was to wait for her mother, so she leaned against the stair railing in the entrance hall.

A carriage was already waiting in front of the mansion, and although she knew full well that everything was ready, she still didn’t want to go, and her feet froze.

“Yes, don’t make me say it again. This country is dangerous right now. The other nobles are evacuating too, aren’t they?”

Count Leiria said irritably.

“…Don’t you want to go pick up your sister?”

Ever since Kuna disappeared, Count Leiria talked of nothing but Kuna.

She asked the exact same thing as Agnès. The Count, seeming irritated, replied bluntly.

“Don’t make me repeat myself. It’s far safer to go to a neighboring country than to stay here. Besides, we must go to bring Kuna back.”

“…For the honor of the Leiria family name, as well, correct?”

Aria muttered with her brows furrowed.

“Yes, that’s right. It’s not for that unpleasant, ugly dog’s child…”

That mutter was so quiet, it probably only reached Agnès.

“Let’s go.”

The Count had the attendants carry the luggage, left the house, and headed for the carriage.

“Roy-sama!?”

Just as the luggage was being loaded and it was time to depart, another carriage arrived in front of the Count’s estate.

Seeing the person getting out of the carriage, Agnès raised her voice.

It was Roy, her sister-in-law’s former fiancé.

He was an excellent magician, but recently, due to the matter with Kuna, his reputation had declined. His father had ordered him to stay under house arrest for a while, and he had apparently been quietly staying at the estate. During that time, he sent several apology letters to the Leiria household, but Count Leiria had torn up every one of them.

“What business do you have?”

The count ordered the coachman to depart.
