Adventurer's Guild Café: I Was Wrongfully Exiled by the Saint, So I Will Enjoy My Second Life with My Fluffy Friends - V 2.2 Chapter 5.3
TL Note: As a heads up the actual Part 3 and Part 4 are an authors note and a summary of the story so far but I’m skipping to Part 5 and renaming it Part 3. I don’t think anyone would care, but if you do let me know and I’ll add the notes and summary.
After that, we spent our time wandering through the festival stalls and playing games.
Lulu got really curious about a stall where you could win prizes by hitting a target with a ball, so I let her give it a try. And somehow—she picked up the ball in her mouth and poof—hit the prize dead-on.
The prize turned out to be an all-you-can-eat pass for luxury cakes.
“Lulu, that’s amazing! It’s an all-you-can-eat ticket!”
“Ruu~!”
Lulu was overjoyed, wagging her tail furiously and running around in circles.
The Mokomotts were just as excited. I can only imagine the cake shop owner’s reaction when they find out they’re joining the all-you-can-eat event… The thought made me, Ellen, and Kurona burst out laughing.
We kept playing around in town for a while, but as the sun began to set, the night breeze turned pleasantly cool.
“I’m looking forward to the fireworks! They’re set off on the last day of the festival, so it’s still a few days away,” Ellen said, gazing up at the sky.
“At this rate, it looks like we’ll have clear weather, so that’s a relief, nya.”
“Really. I look forward to them every year.”
If they’re both saying that, then fireworks must be something truly beautiful.
“Kuna-san, have you ever seen fireworks before?”
“No. In the Kingdom of Aluda, we don’t have that kind of tradition.”
Ellen chuckled softly.
“Then you’re in for a surprise! They’re absolutely beautiful!”
“They really are, nya~.”
Now I’m looking forward to them even more.
“Shall we head back to the guild soon, nya? We can take it easy, sit down, and have a nice chat together.”
“Ah, good idea. Let’s do that.”
“Yes.”
We’d each stuffed ourselves with our favorite foods, so we were already satisfied with the food stalls.
And apparently, when we got back, Ruri and the others would have fresh orange juice frozen into ice treats waiting for us.
With that in mind, we decided to head straight home.
“Huh… that’s strange.”
I was walking alone through the festival’s bustling noise.
Until just a moment ago, I’d been with Ellen and the others, but I’d gotten separated from them in the press of the crowd.
“Well, we can just meet up again at the guild, so it’s fine.”
Lulu and the others had probably gone on ahead to the guild as well.
Just as I stepped forward, intending to head back—
a light, familiar voice reached my ears.
“Found you.”
That voice…
Without thinking, I slowly turned around.
In front of the fountain plaza stood a girl I knew all too well.
Amid the crowd, the spot where she stood was the only place I could see clearly, as if time itself had stopped and the world had gone silent.
“Found you, Onee-sama.”
Why… why are you here?
The shock was so great I couldn’t make a sound.
There was no mistaking her.
Standing there was my stepsister, Agnes.
And coming up behind Agnes were—
Father, with a thin, insincere smile…
and Stepmother, narrowing her eyes in displeasure.
