Ch43: Butler Rabbit to the Rescue
Previously, Huang Qian had successfully contacted him via the pager, but Wen Bei hadn’t expected that the range of the signal interference could be narrowed down to just the room.
No wonder the man in black hadn’t searched him. It turned out that the man was sure that Wen Bei didn’t have the ability to contact the outside world.
Wen Bei’s eyes turned cold, and his mere reaction was enough to explain what had happened.
So, the few people who had just regained some hope suddenly felt dejected and fell back down.
The auction house deliberately wanted to dampen their enthusiasm the day before the auction. To ensure this, they were given no food for a whole day and night, and they had not even touched water. Their minds and bodies were tortured to the extent that their consciousness of resisting had become weak.
Wen Bei had just put away his pager, and before he could think of a new strategy, the tightly closed door was suddenly opened.
The glaring light slipping in from outside forced him to squint.
Ye Hao stood outside, looking very unhappy: “Who among you used the pager just now?”
Wen Bei’s heart sank.
He didn’t expect that the small underground auction house was not only equipped with jamming devices, but they also had the means to capture signals.
Huang Qian was still out of contact, and he didn’t want to expose himself too early.
So Wen Bei chose to remain silent. He took a step back and hid himself in a corner.
Ye Hao sneered: “You’re not going to say anything, are you?”
He turned around and signaled to the person next to him, who immediately handed him a knife.
Ye Hao: “If you don’t want to talk, I will just stab each one of you one by one. Only when you are willing to talk, will I let you go.”
He grabbed the person nearest to him, who happened to be the boy who was sold by his brother. He was trembling with fear and kept shouting, “It’s not me.”
The blade approached him. Ye Hao was very well aware of how to manipulate people’s hearts. He did not directly aim at the blood vessel, but held the knife there. The cold blade pressed on the skin, leaving a trace of blood.
As he counted down, the boy’s face became paler and paler, and finally when he was about to say the last number, the boy completely collapsed.
He pointed in the direction of Wen Bei and cried, “It was him! He used the pager!”
Wen Bei’s face was slightly grim. He did not try to retreat, rather stood out from the shadows.
Even though the car flipped over faster than he had expected, he wasn’t too nervous.
Ye Hao had already guessed that it was him, and there was no surprise on his face. He sneered: “Come here, you restless thing.”
The boy who had just been caught and almost bled was thrown aside. He crawled away in fear, looking at Wen Bei with guilt and fear in his eyes.
Ye Hao: “Are you in cahoots with the man who sold you? You don’t think that after he sells you and gets the money, you can still run back to him with your two legs, right?”
Such incidents had happened before, so they were no strangers to such things. In the past, a couple had come to sell their child, and had secretly told the child to run back after arriving at the buyer’s lair, hoping to get something for nothing.
The final outcome was naturally very ugly.
Ye Hao watched Wen Bei walk up to him obediently. He snatched the pager from his hand and smashed it to pieces.
He laughed in anger: “Don’t think that we don’t dare to do anything to you just because you are valuable.”
Ye Hao took out a black leather ring similar to a torture device: “Before we auction off anything, we try our best to make you wish for death without destroying your face.”
The man’s words were a standard villainous declaration which left Wen Bei silent for a while.
He suppressed his inner complaints and looked around, and found that all had lowered their heads in fear, not even daring to look Ye Hao in the eye, and some were even shaking with fear.
Obviously, they had suffered enough losses at the hands of Ye Hao.
A trace of anger flashed in Wen Bei’s eyes. The moment Ye Hao approached him with the torture device, he reached into his pocket and grabbed the Easter egg that he had been hiding on his body.
It was a real Easter egg, a round egg covered with roses which was given to him by the Butler Rabbit before he left.
And the rabbit had told him that if he ever encountered danger, he just had to crush the egg.
Wen Bei pressed his thumb hard and the eggshell broke into pieces.
In an instant, a white light flashed before everyone’s eyes. When the white light disappeared, a plump white rabbit wearing a pink suit and vest appeared in front of everyone.
It even had a bowl of dumpling soup in its paws, and its whiskers trembled wildly after it studied the situation.
Wen Bei muttered to himself: “So this is used to summon rabbits.”
The sudden appearance of the Butler Rabbit plunged the room into an eerie silence.
The pervasive aroma of dumplings made everyone unconsciously swallow their saliva, but no one dared to get close. They all looked at the big rabbit in front of them with caution.
Ye Hao’s eyes widened. After being surprised, he quickly reacted: “Is this your ability? A summoning ability? It’s a pity that you can only summon such a useless thing. Are you trying to give us a treat?”
After he finished speaking, several men in black behind him started laughing wildly.
They had seen summoning powers that could summon evil spirits and ferocious beasts, but they had never seen anyone summon a fragile rabbit.
They simply considered him as another useless polluter.
The Butler Rabbit laid the bowl of dumpling soup on the ground and carefully covered it with a tray to prevent it from being exposed to dirt and dust.
Then, with his red eyes, he stared at the people in front of him, and his voice was full of dissatisfaction: “Impolite humans.”
”The rabbit can actually talk!” The people next to Ye Hao exclaimed.
Ye Hao still looked down on it: “So what?”
He was not mindless and conceited, but Wen Bei’s distortion level was very low. Even if he was a polluter, he could not be a highly capable polluter. In his eyes, the creature summoned by such a person could only have a combat effectiveness that could be at the level of pet rabbits.
The Butler Rabbit wasn’t fond of humans in the first place, and after being provoked, the red color in his eyes became much cloudy. He took out his rose cane from somewhere, and the red gem on it which was carved into the shape of a rose was pointing at Ye Hao.
Ye Hao raised his hand, and a ball of green flame appeared in his hand, illuminating just his face under his hood, which was half distorted. It was almost impossible to see the facial features, as if most of his face was disfigured by the flames.
The Butler Rabbit suddenly struck a pose and then began to swell. First its limbs became bulging, then its torso, and finally the whole rabbit grew larger. By the time all of them reacted, it had suddenly grown to more than two meters tall, and its hind legs kicked the ground, making it feel as if the floor was shaking.
A crack was left on the cement floor.
It is conceivable that if such a kick was to land on a human, even the hardest skull would be crushed.
The contemptuous smile on Ye Hao’s face froze, and his eyes instantly turned into fear, looking contradictory and funny.
”What kind of a monster is this?!”
”Filth! This must be filth!!”
Some people were in a mess, while others were so scared that their legs and hands went weak.
The people who engaged in evil doings in the base usually never left the base. They were the kind of people who hadn’t faced any serious filth for a long time, and thus, their psychological defenses are very fragile.
Even though they all had abilities, they were still so panicked that they just wanted to run away.
Ye Hao was the only one who could remain calm. He raised the phantom fire in his hand and tried to burn the rabbit that had grown several times larger. However, the fire was extinguished the moment it touched the Butler Rabbit.
The Butler Rabbit sneered, and his voice became ethereal, like some serious ancient beast: “Foolish human.”
It was the second time it had spoken, and compared to the previous time when it was ridiculed, this time, the situation was completely reversed.
The Butler Rabbit was too tall, and its ears could only be pressed down by the ceiling. However, that did not prevent it from taking action. It used its two paws to directly hold down two people, and then picked up another one in its mouth and threw him heavily to the ground.
The person being pinned down felt as if his internal organs were about to be squeezed out, and the smell of blood surged into his heart.
Ye Hao’s phantom flame was useless against the Butler Rabbit. After he was picked up and thrown against the wall, he fainted.
In just five minutes, the group of people who had been arrogant just now became dizzy or pretended to be dead, at least no one could move independently.
Wen Bei had seen the Butler Rabbit ready to pick a fight with Ji Mingyuan because he could not afford a meal. He had always known that its strength was probably beyond that of a high-level polluter like Ji Mingyuan, but he did not expect it to be so ferocious in a fight.
He quickly stopped the Butler Rabbit before it could crush one of the men to death with his furry claws, and simply grabbed the curled up short tail.
The Butler Rabbit shook its paw in dissatisfaction. No matter how cute a creature was, it would still make people feel scared when it was magnified. Standing next to it, a young man of about 1.8 meters tall looked particularly petite.
The hostages nearby were so frightened that they dared to not breathe. They were afraid that the rabbit would suddenly go crazy and bite off Wen Bei’s head.
Unexpectedly, the giant rabbit, whose tail was suddenly grabbed, was not angry. Instead, it lowered its head and sniffed the young man, as if to make sure that he was okay, or as if it was a pet that had not seen its owner for a long time and was confirming the smell.
After sniffing the human, the Butler Rabbit returned to its original size, and the pink suit on his body was restored to its original state.
Wen Bei turned around and explained to the others: “It was really transformed through my ability. It is not a filthy thing.”
He could lie without blushing or feeling nervous.
The woman who first spoke to Wen Bei became a little bolder. She stood up and said, “I believe you.”
The others also nodded. They still didn’t dare to get closer, but the fear in their eyes had dissipated by a lot.
”Can we… escape now?” No one knew who asked the question first, but the atmosphere in the room changed drastically in an instant.
There was an expression of incredible surprise on everyone’s face.
Everything that had just happened had happened too suddenly, and they didn’t have time to react. At the moment, the door had been opened, and the only person who could stop them was lying unconscious.
The boy who had earlier betrayed Wen Bei squatted down with his head in his hands. His voice sounded a little broken: “It’s useless. You can’t run away from here.”
”Why would you say that?” Wen Bei looked at him.
Seeing that Wen Bei didn’t care about his betrayal, the boy calmed down a lot. He wiped away the dried tears on his face and explained, “I have tried to escape from here twice, and both times I took the wrong route. They have space polluters who can change the route of the auction house at any time. Some call it a ghost wall! Even if you remember the way you came, it’s useless.”
Wen Bei’s eyes showed understanding.
No wonder the security here was not very strict. A long time had passed, and the Orderly Army clearly had some suspicions but had not been able to find any evidence.
It turned out that there was a space polluter covering it up.
Considering the current situation, even if he contacted Huang Qian or Qiu Tin, it wouldn’t be of much use.
Wen Bei suddenly laughed. Under the disguise, he had an ordinary appearance, but when he laughed, the curve of his eyes was still the same as before, making him resemble an innocent little animal. However, the words he said sounded more vicious than those of a devil to Ye Hao’s ears.
”It doesn’t matter if there are ghost walls. Don’t we have hostages here?”
After Wen Bei finished speaking, he gently bent down and grabbed Ye Hao’s hair and lifted up his face, with a sharp look in his eyes: “Am I right, Mr. Ye?”
Ye Hao had just woken up from his coma when he heard Wen Bei’s words. He was so angry that he almost fainted once again. But, the pain from his scalp forced him to open his eyes.
It felt as if all his internal organs had just been displaced, and the pain was so severe that he couldn’t speak for half a minute.
Wen Bei loosened his hand and let his head hit the ground again. He wiped his hands expressionlessly: “You don’t want to talk? I have plenty of ways to make you talk.”
He deliberately acted sarcastic and gently kicked the torture device that Ye Hao had brought with his toes.
Ye Hao: “…I’ll tell you! I’ll tell you!”
He hated it so much, but there was nothing he could do about it.
