After the Lord of the Abyss Awakens - Chapter 70.2
Hilton was also confused out of concern, otherwise how could he ask such a stupid question?
He was also afraid of offending Norman Til, so he immediately apologized. “I’m sorry, I asked a question I shouldn’t have.”
Norman Til smiled faintly, “It’s fine, I understand your feelings. It’s no problem to just discuss.”
He was truly as tolerant and magnanimous as the legends said. Hilton felt a bit relieved.
Eve seemed to remember something, her eyes a bit unfocused.
“Speaking of which,” Norman Til looked curious, his gaze turning to Eve, saying: “Eve, have you seen the Lord of the Abyss?”
The air suddenly went quiet.
The jump in Norman Til’s topic was somewhat startling.
Following the topic, everyone thought, the Lord of the Abyss is the lord of all Abyss Lords, which means… that includes the Demon God Baal?
How strong and terrifying must He be to make the Demon God Baal bow His head?
Eve was stunned for a moment, then answered. “Yes, He suddenly appeared at the council, telling us to seek the heroes. I was originally responsible for this, but now that Hammurabi is in trouble, I had to come here first, temporarily handing the task over to Lia, Simon, and colleagues from the Historical Research Institute.”
Norman Til showed a surprised look. He had come to Hammurabi in such a hurry that he wasn’t aware of what had happened in the last month or two.
He had only just heard about it.
“The Lord of the Abyss asked us to seek the heroes…”
Norman Til seemed lost in thought.
Eve paused for a few seconds, as if considering the setting, and chose her words carefully. “There are too few clues, and some obstacles, it’s not easy to find.”
Norman Til nodded, raising his eyes. “I roughly understand the situation now. I’ll handle this matter personally later, for now let’s solve the human crisis first.”
Hearing this, some people’s expressions changed. Had they misheard? Norman Til actually said he would handle this matter personally?
They couldn’t understand why for the moment, while Norman Til’s magic faintly emanated, Eve could tell at a glance it was transfer magic.
Eve exclaimed in surprise. “You’re going now?”
Norman Til laughed. “It’s all about the element of surprise.”
As soon as he finished speaking, his form disappeared.
****
By now, it was deep into the night.
The Divine Kingdom of Destruction wasn’t far from the Hammurabi Great Empire, so there wasn’t much time difference.
In a certain castle, divine power permeated the air.
Various deities were performing their hardest, yet unable to please the Goddess of Fortune.
She leaned on the divine throne, body tilted, elbow resting on the armrest, fingers pressing against her temple, strands of long hair falling, covering Her eyes that often changed color.
Her expression was full of weariness, as if She couldn’t even be bothered to lift Her eyelids, occasionally yawning, the corners of Her eyes moist.
Her boredom was almost tangible, anyone could see Her mood.
In the eyes of the Goddess of Fortune, the world was always divided into fortunate and unfortunate. What was intangible to others was more substantial than anything tangible to Her.
This consciousness of Hers had awakened about three thousand years ago. At first it was fine, She felt the world was like a huge sandbox, and She was the only one who could play with the sand. The sand in Her hand was the fortune that creatures like humans sought desperately. She distributed the sand as they wished, and humans and other creatures would be grateful to Her to the point of tears.
At first, She found this very interesting, playing to Her heart’s content, blessing all over the world, enjoying various beliefs from all over the world.
No creature wouldn’t want fortune. Even those already living a happy life would want a bit more fortune to add icing on the cake, and countless people in difficult situations longed for a turn of fortune.
She was practically the hope of all beings, an existence all beings sought but couldn’t obtain.
How wonderful.
She became inflated with praise and fanatical belief, becoming increasingly unrestrained, to the point of ignoring the crisis, or perhaps, even if She realized it, what of it? As the Goddess of Fortune, couldn’t She easily resolve it?
However, after inflating to the extreme, She still hit a snag. In the end, after twists and turns, Her divine status dropped, Her divine power waned, becoming what She is now.
Time passes quickly yet not so quickly.
It seemed to happen in the blink of an eye.
The Goddess of Fortune suddenly gave a bitter smile, unclear whether She was lamenting Her own [fate] or Her current crisis.
The various deities waving their arms and posturing in the dance floor all disappeared in an instant.
The surroundings were engulfed by darkness, as if submerged in the deep sea.
The music stopped accordingly, giving way to dead silence.
And the silence was broken the next moment.
A series of steady footsteps approached from afar.
The Goddess of Fortune lowered Her eyes, Her thick eyelashes casting a faint shadow on Her eyelids, adding a touch of mysteriousness.
She silently watched Beelzebub walking towards Her, knowing what he had come for.
And Beelzebub spoke directly, “That’s about enough, withdraw your curse.”
The Goddess of Fortune stared at him, the corners of Her lips slightly curved, “You’re only saying this now?”
The long-lived species generally didn’t care much about memories, because they had too many of them. As long as it didn’t involve Their most precious memories, it didn’t matter whether They remembered other trivial things or not.
But the curse of the Goddess of Fortune undoubtedly brought Beelzebub quite a bit of trouble.
And usually after the trouble was over, Beelzebub would forget about it again, which was why it had not been resolved for so long.
Beelzebub’s face was expressionless, with killing intent directly released from His eyes. He looked like He had no intention of negotiating at all.
His magic had already dominated the surrounding space, and various “misfortunes” hindered His progress, but He still overcame everything with absolute power to get here.
The Goddess of Fortune looked at Him for a while, sighed, and then raised Her hands in surrender. Her pupils flickered with a flash of light.
The curse was immediately lifted.
He surprisingly didn’t struggle at all.
At this point, He even found the act of struggling uninteresting.
“Alright, the curse is lifted.”
She told Beelzebub, resolving the matter very calmly. The expected conflict or life-and-death struggle did not occur, and She didn’t call for Dog Head or Federi either.
A hint of surprise flashed in Beelzebub’s eyes, not expecting Her to comply so easily.
According to Buer, having a beloved dress destroyed was an absolutely unforgivable thing.
But Beelzebub also had something to say. He had been suffering from bad luck for so many years, surely the debt was almost paid off?
“Is it strange?”
The Goddess of Fortune smiled and said frankly, “Actually, it’s very simple. The reason is that I’m tired of it. Whatever it is, once it’s gone, it’s gone.”
Beelzebub felt very indifferent to Her words. His rational thinking couldn’t understand the Goddess of Fortune’s bizarre thought process. He only deduced based on common sense that this fellow was having an episode.
In human terms, it would be called “melancholy”, starting to seek troubles and torment oneself.
Long-lived species always had such moments, especially the divine race.
Unlike humans, whose brains would age after a certain time, becoming mentally weak and unable to think about so many things, with severe cases even developing senile dementia.
But for deities, the mind didn’t age, remaining constantly in the best state, processing and digesting information every day.
This led to boredom, weariness, and even irritability, depression, and madness.
As humans aged, their mental faculties declined and they gradually lost the ability to focus, which actually avoided these potential problems.
However, immortal races like deities had to endure this continuously.
In response to this, Their attitudes also differed. Some gods enjoyed eternity, continuously creating new amusements, while others became depressed and suicidal.
There was nothing new under the sun.
Beelzebub had even heard of a human academic term for this psychological characteristic, called something like “eternal depression psychology”.
It was an incomprehensible and bizarre psychology to Him, but it seemed to indeed exist.
For example, the Goddess of Fortune in front of Him was suffering from it now.
But what did that have to do with Him?
Beelzebub turned to leave immediately after lifting the curse, not wanting to stay a second longer.
But the Goddess of Fortune suddenly called Him back.
“Wait.”
Beelzebub had half stepped into the void, glancing sideways at the Goddess of Fortune, saying somewhat impatiently, “What is it.”
The Goddess of Fortune blinked and said, “You… what are you Abyss Lords doing?”
Beelzebub coldly said. “It’s none of your business.”
The Goddess of Fortune paused.
Beelzebub seemed to recall something and turned back, saying, “I almost forgot, have you ever had your powers snatched away by anyone?”
The Goddess of Fortune tilted Her head, “If you’re asking about that, there have been quite a few, I can’t remember, probably over a hundred.”
So many?
Beelzebub frowned slightly.
“You seem to be looking for something?”
The Goddess of Fortune asked curiously.
Beelzebub stated firmly. “It’s none of your business.”
The Goddess of Fortune’s curiosity wilted, Her eyes dimming.
Beelzebub remembered something else, apparently His memory had improved after the curse was lifted.
“A long time ago, you met seven otherworld heroes, didn’t you?”
The Goddess of Fortune looked astonished, but regarding this question… She recalled. “That was from the consciousness of two generations ago.”
“So do you remember?”
Beelzebub was concise, not wasting words.
He knew that not all current divine consciousnesses had memories of the past. Take those two black and white birds in His family for example – the little black bird remembered most of the memories of the gods of darkness, while the little white bird couldn’t remember anything. Perhaps it would recall later, or perhaps not. Who knew?
The Goddess of Fortune focused Her gaze, as if truly trying to remember, and only after a few seconds said, “I don’t really remember.”
Beelzebub wanted to ask why She had blessed six heroes back then, but uniquely didn’t bless His father.
However, looking at the Goddess of Fortune’s appearance, She probably couldn’t remember.
So be it.
Beelzebub walked into the spatial rift, giving a final warning glance, “Siding with the Divine Kingdom of Destruction means certain death. If you don’t want to die, then flee.”
The Goddess of Fortune remained silent, watching as the spatial rift opened and closed again, the light that had just brightened in Her eyes dimming once more.
How uninteresting.
She closed Her eyes and said silently, “Why not be destroyed along with the Divine Kingdom of Destruction.”
Generation after generation, the consciousness of fortune was extinguished due to emptiness.
Just then, a great earthquake struck the Divine Kingdom of Destruction.
Explosions could be heard near and far, along with the whistling sound of swords being swung.
“We’re under enemy attack!”
“Who, who would dare to be so bold as to attack our Divine Kingdom!”
“It’s Norman Til. Damn it, the humans have started to counterattack. Does he think he can take us on alone? He’s dreaming!”
Everywhere was filled with dazzling light and chaotic magic energy flows.
Beelzebub was about to head to the main city area, to fight His way to the rumored “Federi”, when He unexpectedly saw Norman Til who had invaded the Divine Kingdom of Destruction.
He wore brilliant battle armor, his eyes as dazzling as stars, each step he took intimidating gods and demons alike.
The terrifying fighting spirit and exquisite use of magic set him apart from the ordinary.
Wielding a greatsword in one hand and manipulating magic with the other, his unparalleled presence drew everyone’s attention.
Beelzebub saw him from afar and for a moment thought He was seeing His eldest or second brother.
So this was His eldest brother’s contractor and second brother’s student? He did indeed look like quite a figure.
Beelzebub found it interesting and observed secretly.
Norman Til seemed to sense something and suddenly looked in His direction.
They made eye contact across a distance of several hundred meters.
Beelzebub was a bit surprised, but soon Norman Til had to look away.
Because suddenly, a colossal black dragon that blotted out the sky appeared in the distance. Its dragon breath burned the earth in an instant, creating scorched earth and death everywhere.
It seemed extremely angry that a human dared to invade Its divine kingdom. Once It locked onto Norman Til, It launched an overwhelming attack.
Beelzebub maintained His role as an observer.
Red light covered the sky and earth, the terrifying temperature evaporating the land and even burning away the rules of reality.
At the same time, a sharp sword light split the flames, with a sword momentum as vast as the sea engulfing the raging fire.
The entire divine kingdom trembled, with wails and howls everywhere.
****
The humans observing the battle from the ground, who could not be shocked?
“Norman Til is too strong, his power must be approaching the level of god king.”
“Is that really true?”
“I think so. My God, could he become the strongest human in history?”
Someone had just blurted this out when they suddenly realized, “Wait, even with Norman Til being this strong, he’s still only ranked second among humans today.”
“So how incredibly powerful must the number one be!”
That night, countless human kings stood watching the battle, anxious and sleepless through the night.
The Alliance was also paying close attention.

In the bookstore late at night, Xiu Si was still continuing to level up, having overdrawn his mental energy countless times. After repeated efforts, he inevitably felt dizzy.
A few minutes later, he could no longer resist fatigue and fell asleep slumped over the desk.
When he was completely unconscious, his magical power naturally spread out, as if bringing the surrounding space into his domain.
In the faint lamplight, a human figure faintly appeared beside him.
It was an extremely beautiful young man, with deep emerald eyes that seemed to hide world-shocking wisdom.
He seemed to have been accompanying Xiu Si all along, although Xiu Si was both aware and unaware of this.
He casually took out a cotton blanket from the void and slowly draped it over Xiu Si.
The little short-legged cat was sleeping soundly when it suddenly seemed to sense something. It opened its eyes and looked hazily towards the young man.
The moment it laid eyes on Him, the little short-legged cat was scared and almost cried out.
