Lu Tang didn’t plan to hide her family’s matters from Liang Cheng.

However, recently, chaotic things happened one after another, and she didn’t have a chance to say anything. Sighing, Lu Tang said, “Let’s find a small restaurant to eat something, and I’ll tell you something.”

Once the food and wine were served, and after downing three cups of osmanthus wine, Lu Tang told Liang Cheng that Lu Deren might have a mistress.

Liang Cheng was so angry he threw down his chopsticks. “What the hell!”

“Yeah, exactly!” Lu Tang forced a bitter smile and took a sip of wine.

Liang Cheng’s face darkened, and he breathed heavily. “No wonder you are so hostile towards Lu Yuchen. If it wasn’t for you, he would have been dead by now! Guo Changming is really something, bringing Lu Yuchen directly to you today. What do you think his intentions are?”

Lu Tang replied, “What intentions could he have? Lu Yuchen must have begged him. After being an underground child for over ten years, now that Lu Deren is making moves, he must be unable to resist showing his face!”

Liang Cheng spat in disgust.

“If we hadn’t dealt with him first today, was he planning to deal with you? Does he even know who he is? If he dared to mess with you, forget everything else, Xu Shen alone would throw him out of the second floor of Juxian House!”

Lu Tang laughed. “Throwing him out would be pointless. If we do it, we should make sure he can’t continue his studies!”

After a pause, Lu Tang felt bored and took a sip of wine. “Actually, what’s Lu Yuchen’s fault? The real fault lies with Lu Deren!

I don’t have much hostility towards Lu Yuchen or Yue’er.

But the premise is that they don’t provoke me.”

“That’s not the point. Didn’t Yue’er know that Guo Changming wanted to marry your sister? Isn’t that provoking? They’re trying to gain everything without any effort!”

Compared to the cold and quiet Qiao Family Inn, Chunxi Inn’s lobby was bustling with activity. The shop assistant quickly greeted them with a bow. “Do the two guests want to stay? Our prices are fair, and we include breakfast and lunch.”

Liang Cheng walked in first, “How many rooms do you have left? We need two.”

Lu Tang interrupted, “One room each, preferably next to each other.”

The shop assistant smiled broadly. “You are in luck; we have two adjacent luxury rooms, but they are a bit more expensive.”

Lu Tang asked, “How much?”

The shop assistant said, “One hundred coins per night. It is a bit pricey, but the furnishings are top-notch. You won’t find such good quality elsewhere.

For instance, the teacups in the rooms are made of high-quality porcelain from Jingdezhen, and the bedding is made of the finest cotton and Shu brocade.

Staying for one night is definitely worth the money!

Moreover, the luxury rooms include breakfast, lunch, and dinner, all top-notch meals. At a regular Restaurant, just those meals would cost at least fifty coins.”

Seeing Lu Tang and Liang Cheng dressed well, the shop assistant vigorously promoted the luxury rooms. Noticing one of them seemed displeased, he thought they might be outwardly impressive but poor. Liang Cheng looked at Lu Tang.

She tossed a piece of silver to the shop assistant.

The shop assistant caught it with a beaming smile. “Very well, please follow me upstairs! Would you like dinner or a late-night snack? It’s included with the luxury room.”

Liang Cheng wanted to refuse, but Lu Tang spoke first, “Sure.”

The luxury rooms were on the third floor, with only four rooms in total. The other two were already occupied. The shop assistant led Lu Tang and Liang Cheng to the two innermost rooms.

“Here you are. I’ll light the candles for you. Don’t underestimate our candles; they contain a special fragrance that refreshes the mind.”

Once the candles were lit, the room brightened up.

Liang Cheng and Lu Tang went into one room first. Looking around, Lu Tang said, “Bring us a pot of hot tea!”

Lu Tang sneered, walked to the bed, and pulled the neatly folded quilt apart, searching for the seam and tearing it open.

Liang Cheng was shocked. “Isn’t this from your family?”

Lu Tang threw the quilt down, angrily sitting on the bed. “I felt something was off when the shop assistant was describing the room. I didn’t expect them to use our stuff and earn money from it!”

Using Shu brocade for inn bedding was not something just any innkeeper could afford!

And those special candles!

“Damn it, this is disgusting!” Liang Cheng sat down, fuming. “There must be a traitor!”

Lu Tang gritted her teeth. “What kind of traitor would dare do such a thing!”

Lu Tang took a deep breath. “My mother and sister came here to check the accounts today. They found the deficit but haven’t found the cause yet. I’ll tell my mother about this tomorrow.”

As they talked, there was a knock on the door.

“Guests, I’m here with your tea and some snacks.”

“Come in.”

Lu Tang walked to the round table.

The shop assistant entered with a smile. “Here you are. I’ve informed the kitchen; your meals will be ready soon.”

He placed the tray down and left.

Lu Tang had just picked up a piece of duck tongue with her chopsticks when the system’s voice rang out.

She paused. “You have great timing!”
