Can a System Have Bad Intentions? - Chapter 96
Qin Mo jumped off the carriage and headed straight for Lu Tang’s carriage.
Lu Tang was puzzled. Why had the carriage stopped? Had something happened? The curtain was suddenly lifted, and Qin Mo stood by the carriage with a stern face, commanding, “Get down!”
Song Qingzhan quickly followed, smiling apologetically, “Young Master Lu, I forgot to mention something yesterday. We need to switch carriages today.”
Lu Tang hurriedly got off the carriage upon hearing this, “Alright.”
Liang Cheng’s heart tightened, “What can’t wait until we reach Yuhang? Also, I’ve never heard that Young Master Qin is good at managing inns.”
Lu Tang knew that Qin Mo wanted to talk about Xie Chengnian. She couldn’t tell Liang Cheng about this, so she said, “It’s something else.”
Liang Cheng wanted to say more, but Lu Tang had already gotten down, and as soon as she did, Song Qingzhan got into the carriage.
As the carriage started again, Qin Mo felt relieved seeing the silly little one sitting beside him.
“What is it?” Lu Tang asked as soon as she settled down, thinking about Xie Chengnian.
“It’s not about Xie Chengnian. It’s about the Western Mountain Camp, the thing you were asking about for Er Bao,” Qin Mo said.
“Oh, any progress? Have you found the culprit?” Lu Tang asked.
“Not yet,” Qin Mo replied.
Lu Tang blinked, staring at Qin Mo in astonishment, waiting for more information.
Qin Mo coughed, “The Western Mountain Camp incident involves Huang Yunsheng. His father, Huang Bangyuan, is the key. If we can find out about Huang Bangyuan, we’ll have a lead on Western Mountain Camp.”
Lu Tang thought, this was essentially nothing. “Anything else?” she asked after a long pause.
Qin Mo turned from looking at the scenery to Lu Tang, “Anything else?”
Lu Tang was exasperated, “You called me over here just for this?”
Qin Mo’s back stiffened, expressionless, “Yes.”
Lu Tang was speechless, “Then I’ll go back to my original carriage.” She turned to call the driver to stop.
Qin Mo grabbed her arm, pulling her to sit back down beside him, “Switching carriages will delay our journey.”
Lu Tang lost her balance and fell into Qin Mo’s chest, hitting her forehead hard. She pulled away, rubbing her forehead, “Brother Zhan isn’t familiar with Liang Cheng. It’s not appropriate, is it?”
Qin Mo looked at her tearful eyes, recalling the recent collision, and how soft she felt. He averted his gaze, “What’s inappropriate?”
Lu Tang was frustrated, “Isn’t it inappropriate? Don’t you have a bit of self-awareness? Aren’t you worried about him being with another handsome unmarried man?”
A sudden realization hit Lu Tang. Crap! Could Qin Mo be interested in her? No way, she wouldn’t break up someone else’s relationship.
“I like women!” Lu Tang moved away from Qin Mo and shouted.
Qin Mo was startled, looking at her defensive expression, he found it amusing, “I know. You like rich and beautiful women.”
He looked her up and down, “I like short, silly ones.”
Lu Tang was baffled. Song Qingzhan wasn’t short or silly. She asked without thinking, “Don’t you like Song Qingzhan?”
Qin Mo looked as if he’d been struck by lightning, “What?”
A moment later, Qin Mo glared at Lu Tang, “So, you’ve always thought Song Qingzhan and I are a couple?”
Lu Tang hesitated, “Yes.”
Qin Mo felt like throwing her out of the carriage. How stupid could she be?
“Me, married to a man? Do you know we’re both men?” He poked her forehead, watching her wobble, “I like women! I’m not sick!”
Lu Tang rolled her eyes internally. Just because someone likes men doesn’t mean they’re sick. It’s natural.
“Alright, I understand,” she said.
Qin Mo was annoyed, “What made you think I liked Song Qingzhan?”
Lu Tang counted on her fingers, “You made chicken wings for him.”
“Didn’t you eat them too?”
“But he walked funny the next day and had a sore butt.”
Qin Mo remembered that morning and how Lu Tang had looked at him, even giving Song Qingzhan a cushion. He was amused, “He got injured on a mission. You seem to know quite a bit for your age.”
Lu Tang lowered her head, “Thanks for the compliment.”
“Now can you sit still and stop switching carriages?”
Lu Tang shook her head, “I won’t switch.”
Then she looked up at Qin Mo, “I’m a man too.”
Qin Mo felt like he had never been so patient in his life. Anyone else would’ve been kicked out of the window by now, “I know!”
“Okay.”
Qin Mo stared at her, suddenly smiling, “What? You thought I liked men, so you thought I was falling for you?”
Lu Tang’s head lowered even further.
Qin Mo looked at her white neck and averted his eyes, “Even if I liked men, I wouldn’t like someone as dumb as you. Relax!”
“Okay.”
From Qinghe County to Yuhang, even with fast horses, the group took three days to reach by dusk.
Yuhang was prosperous. As night fell, the bustling streets were crowded.
None of them had ever left Qinghe County before. Entering Yuhang, they were all fascinated, looking out and exclaiming in admiration.
Even Liang Cheng, who had been annoyed all the way, was now too distracted to worry.
Qin Mo watched Lu Tang excitedly peering out of the window, smiling. He leaned closer, almost encircling her, “What do you see?”
Lu Tang pointed outside, “Everything is new.”
Qin Mo laughed, “Once we settle at the inn, I’ll take you around.”
Lu Tang quickly turned, “We’re staying at an inn?”
Qin Mo was close, and when she turned, her lips brushed his chin.
Qin Mo felt a strange, tingling sensation, his body stiffening.
“We’re not going to Xie Chengnian’s house?” Lu Tang asked, not noticing anything unusual, and leaned back a bit.
Qin Mo’s heart pounded, afraid she’d hear it, and he moved back to his seat, “No. You and the others will meet him. If we go, he’ll be suspicious.”
Lu Tang turned back to the window, her hair slightly messy from the journey, with a few tufts sticking up.
Qin Mo found it endearing and couldn’t help but lean closer again, his chin brushing her hair.
