Endless Throne - Chapter 30
“Quick, call me father!” The fat factory director spoke urgently, his eyes full of expectation.
He felt a secret joy in his heart. Seeing me with that kind of look in his eyes—was he thinking of accepting me as his father?
Lin Yebai raised his head slightly. The sound of wind, rushing river water, and aberrant roars overlapped, and he became unprecedentedly calm. In the past, always concerned about internal energy consumption and his body’s endurance, he had never been able to fight to his heart’s content. Today, too many aberrants had died, and he had invisibly gained nourishment from their blood energy.
Those killing moves he couldn’t use before might now be worth attempting.
His emotions showed no fluctuation as he coldly gazed at the factory director’s position and delivered a horizontal slash.
A blood-colored blade light traced a crescent moon trajectory through the air, magnificent and graceful, as if it would cleave the factory director in half vertically.
Even though the two were separated by more than ten meters, the factory director felt that sharp edge. He frantically flapped his wings, his round body somewhat awkwardly managing to dodge that strike.
However, the blade intent didn’t dissipate and fell directly onto the bridge.
The bridge, which had already endured too much, developed a clean break with smooth edges. The remaining half quickly fractured with thunderous roars, crashing down with enormous splashes.
All the aberrants on the bridge didn’t need to go through the jumping procedure—they fell directly into the river.
The mutated fish school below was nearly mad with joy, opening their mouths wide, waiting to be fed. Some got a bite of meat, some got chunks of brick, some got their mouths stuffed with car parts—everyone had gains.
“Pinch me,” Zhou Yuan said dazedly, feeling a strong sense of unreality.
“I feel like the dimensional wall has been broken…”
Why couldn’t he slash out such blade energy with his cleaver?
So cool! So awesome! So thrilling!
Xiahou Yun and Coach Wang immediately seized this opportunity to pinch Zhou Yuan hard.
“Hiss—”
Zhou Yuan sucked in a cold breath, his face turning pale:
“Damn, you guys pinched too hard.”
Is this what good brothers are like? Understood, understood.
After slashing out that strike, Lin Yebai’s internal energy was directly reduced by half. The blood bead from Zhang San shrank considerably as a result, with the depleted portion turning into tiny blood-colored dust that scattered across the sky.
With the bridge collapsed, Lin Yebai was like a graceful feather, light and natural, floating several times in the air before landing directly on the road.
Having been hunted for years, his lightness skill was as outstanding as his blade technique.
The factory director had been in the air all along, holding the advantage. Lightness skills often needed leverage points, so fighting in the air wasn’t advantageous.
The urgent task was to find a way to lure the factory director down.
Thinking of this, Lin Yebai’s face grew even paler.
“Brother Lin, are you okay?”
“Sir, are you alright?”
Zhou Yuan and Xiahou Yun spoke in unison, then looked at each other warily after speaking.
Want to steal his favor?
Heh, men are truly scheming.
“You’re also surnamed Lin? Like the “double wood” Lin? I’m also surnamed Lin…” The factory director became excited, increasingly convinced this was the son heaven had bestowed upon him. This was simply too precious.
“Son, I really admire you. Don’t refuse a toast only to drink a forfeit.”
“Those who died before were all cannon fodder—I don’t feel bad about losing any number of them. If you obediently listen, you’ll be the crown prince of the world’s number one leather factory in the future. Wouldn’t that be wonderful?” He flapped his wings, moving closer to Lin Yebai.
The factory director’s wings weren’t bird-like feathers but rather bat-like wings, utterly lacking in beauty. They could support his terrifying weight, with clearly visible muscle contours on the wing membranes.
[Crispy Shark]: Why does the factory director have such useful talent yet still guard a leather factory?
[I Am a Little Green Dragon]: If this were me, I’d have established an aberrant empire long ago
[The Ordinary Me]: Looking at his not-too-bright face, can’t you guess?
[Fat Tiger]: Really pitiful, being able to grow so big without a brain must be very difficult, right?
[Super Rich Tangerine Seat]: Have to say, the factory director has one advantage—good eye for talent
Lin Yebai fell silent again, unable to suppress a light cough, seemingly deep in thought.
The factory director might be fat and ugly, but everyone could see his troublesome nature. This guy was definitely not easy to deal with. If they could resolve this peacefully, that would be ideal.
But would Lin Yebai acknowledge a thief as his father?
No matter how one thought about it, it was impossible, so there was no point in saying soft words. They could only hope Lin Yebai would defeat the factory director.
“Defeat me,” Lin Yebai glanced at the factory director, completely serious.
“Fine, if I win, you’ll be my son.” The factory director smiled happily, patting his fat belly and asking with a laugh:
“What’s your name?”
“Lin Yebai.”
“What kind of lousy name is that? Not nice at all… Your father here is called Lin Fugui—that’s the kind of name rich people should have. With your weak and frail build, why don’t we call you Lin Dazhuang instead!” (TL: Lin “Big Healthy”)
[Guthana the Dark God]: Pfft
[One Needle From Me]: Sorry… hahahahahaha
[Little Pudding]: Hehehehehe
[Literary Mentor]: Dazhuang carries beautiful hopes… forget it hahahahahaha
[Soft Cat Ears]: Poor baby being persecuted, hugs and sobs hahahahahaha
Lin Yebai’s face visibly darkened.
This was the first time others had seen him so angry—they all stared, thinking they might never see this again.
“Zhuangzhuang…” Factory Director Lin Fugui was completely oblivious that crisis had arrived, still smiling with a benevolent expression.
“As your father, I won’t bully you. There happens to be a group of mid-level aberrants—practice with them.”
Lin Fugui could play around and joke, but he didn’t treat his dog’s life as a joke. That big brain on his neck was still quite useful, and he didn’t want to fall here.
Lin Yebai’s blade technique was indeed not to be underestimated.
First, he’d force him to the brink to see his limits.
As for Zhou Yuan, Xiahou Yun and the others, Lin Fugui casually called some aberrants to surround them.
If he killed them and made deadly enemies, it would be completely counterproductive.
Lin Yebai faced several mid-level aberrants alone and was temporarily suppressed.
Lin Fugui watched with great satisfaction. Good, his strength was still within control. Ultimate moves couldn’t be used casually—he wasn’t worried about his son committing patricide.
The mid-level aberrants surrounding Lin Yebai totaled seven, each mutated differently.
There was a middle-aged strong man who had grown six arms, each holding a different weapon—nunchucks, fruit knife, frying pan—all present. He had large iron pots on his chest and back, both offensive and defensive.
There was a sheep-headed person, unfortunately a sheep, whose body was covered with a layer of soft, curly wool, who had to “baa” every so often.
There was an auntie with four legs, expression fierce, with pitch-black sharp fingernails as weapons, the nail beds full of blackened flesh.
There were also human-bodied scorpion-tailed aberrants, mutated Tibetan mastiff aberrants, human-headed cockroach-bodied aberrants, and rat-man aberrants similar to the Rat King—none held back, all striking at Lin Yebai’s vital points.
Lin Yebai’s face grew increasingly pale, his brow slightly furrowed. Under the siege of seven mid-level aberrants, he gradually fell into disadvantage, making observers feel deeply anxious.
[White Umbrella] tipped Star Coins x1000
[White Umbrella]: Baby, go for it
[Abyss Monarch]: Eyes deep and mysterious, as if containing myriad stars, lips slightly curved: “Don’t worry about him—he hasn’t suffered any real losses yet.”
There were still many low-level aberrants around, controlled by Lin Fugui, cooperating to hinder Lin Yebai’s movements.
Lin Yebai wasn’t polite either—any low-level aberrants that came, he accepted them all, beheading every one.
Soon corpses piled up on the ground, occasionally rolling out one or two blood beads.
The first mid-level aberrant to die under Lin Yebai’s blade was the rat-man.
A familiar death—decapitation.
“I suddenly realized Brother Lin is quite vengeful…” Zhou Yuan and the others had been watching the battle while thinking of escape methods.
“Has rats offended sir before?” Xiahou Yun was curious.
“Same as Zhang San,” Zhou Yuan remembered the singing and dancing rat-man again, his mouth twitching.
“Understood.” Xiahou Yun pressed his lips together, trying hard to maintain a serious, grave expression.
The blood bead from Zhang San in Lin Yebai’s hand completely shattered. His face instantly became much paler, his form unsteady, and he seemed about to collapse—
“Ah!!!” Zhou Yuan’s heart clenched into a knot.
The scorpion-tailed aberrant seized the opportunity, swinging its tail. The poisonous stinger was about to pierce Lin Yebai.
A flash of blade light, and the entire tail flew out, piercing the cockroach aberrant’s belly.
“Ah—” The scorpion-tailed aberrant let out a miserable scream, blood flowing like a fountain from the severed area.
Lin Fugui’s expression suddenly turned cold. What trash—this subordinate was too useless and had become worthless.
The second head Lin Yebai severed was the scorpion-tailed aberrant’s. For this, he was severely struck by the six-armed strong man’s club.
He stood supported by his blade, coughing continuously, covering his lips with his hand. His fingertips showed traces of blood, the light in his eyes dimming, his weakness alarming.
Zhou Yuan’s eyes were about to split with rage, almost rushing out, but was held back by Xiahou Yun.
Lin Yebai hadn’t reached his limit yet—he must be planning something.
“He definitely can’t go on!” The cockroach aberrant shrieked as it charged toward Lin Yebai, wanting revenge.
A flash of blade light, and its head was gone.
This strike seemed to use all his strength. Lin Yebai sat on the pile of corpses, coldly watching the other aberrants. Even in this moment, sitting there, he still had a sense of cold, solitary pride.
The four-legged auntie aberrant watched warily, somewhat defensive, not daring to approach.
The six-armed strong man began to regret—he was afraid the future crown prince would rise to power. It looked like he’d hit hard, but actually he’d controlled his strength, just tapping lightly. He hoped he hadn’t caused any real harm.
The sheep-headed aberrant, being stared at by Lin Yebai, had all its wool standing on end. Mustering courage, it “baa-ed” at Lin Yebai.
Lin Yebai trembled continuously, coughing weakly. This series of battles had triggered his condition, the corners of his eyes taking on a crimson hue. He was clearly severely ill, appearing to have no ability to resist.
“Sigh… Dazhuang, your constitution is still too poor.” Lin Fugui sighed.
The mutated Tibetan mastiff aberrant circled behind Lin Yebai and opened its bloody maw.
Thick, putrid stench enveloped him. Lin Yebai backhanded a strike, instantly severing the dog’s head. Half his face was drenched in blood, the mark on his forehead burning hot, the red in his eyes growing heavier.
The next instant, he slashed out a gorgeous blade light, shooting straight toward Lin Fugui, who was watching the battle in the air.
The second strike was truly too fast.
No one saw his blade trajectory clearly. When they realized what happened, the blood-colored blade light had already reached Lin Fugui, carrying deadly killing intent and unstoppable sharp blade will.
Even though Lin Fugui dodged in time, he was still struck on one wing.
Nearly two-thirds of his right wing was severed, barely hanging by a connection. Pitch-black blood dripped down, burning away completely in the air. Soon mist swirled around the wound.
“Kill! Kill them all!”
“Don’t let a single one escape!”
Killing intent surged in Lin Fugui’s eyes—he no longer had any thought of taking a son.
The pressure on Zhou Yuan’s side increased. Even with Xiahou Yun’s tremendous strength, protecting all of them was impossible. They were soon scattered under the aberrants’ attacks.
Lin Fugui most wanted to kill Lin Yebai. He could no longer fly freely and was forced to land, not daring to get too close to Lin Yebai. He commanded all aberrants to kill Lin Yebai at any cost.
Lin Yebai ignored the other aberrants’ attacks and pursued Lin Fugui.
As long as he killed Lin Fugui, the other aberrants would lose control, and they could escape successfully.
“Mommy—”
The little spider’s anxious call came. Lin Yebai glanced quickly and saw Coach Wang being surrounded by aberrants, falling from the broken bridge edge. He threw the cat bag containing the little spiders far away, leaving it on the road. At some point, mist had risen from the river surface, gray and hazy, obscuring everything.
