Girl, There's Something Wrong With You - Chapter 5
Dream, Changxing Island.
As Cheng Jinyang’s pupils radiated once more, his heart swelled, blood flow accelerated, and his body temperature skyrocketed. The surrounding molten metal enveloped him, transforming him into a towering steel giant… or more precisely, an Autobot about the size of Optimus Prime.
This time, however, the girls were not encased in metal but left outside.
“This feeling…” Miss Qingqing looked at her hands in amazement. “It’s so magical.”
She could distinctly feel that she existed as two “selves”: one standing here, controlling the body named “Chu Qingqing,” and another residing within Cheng Jinyang’s body, encased in layers of metal.
The girls also carefully tried to move their bodies, sometimes stumbling forward, other times stopping abruptly. Only Yang Wangshu walked a few steps skillfully before saying in the sea of consciousness within Cheng Jinyang:
“Is this it? It’s just multitasking, running two accounts simultaneously! I thought it would be more difficult.”
“The so-called connection doesn’t mean our consciousness has entered Cheng Jinyang’s body. It merely means we are sharing consciousness with him,” Wang Wanrou said calmly. “In other words, the information our brains are receiving now includes not only our own bodily sensations but also Cheng Jinyang’s sensory input.”
“The human brain is inherently capable of processing complex information. For example, each of your eyes sees different images, but the brain merges them into a single, three-dimensional picture.”
“What you need to do next is to learn how to multitask, maintaining control over your own body while managing Cheng Jinyang’s computations.”
“What’s the use of learning this?” Cui Jinqi asked curiously.
“The connection is bidirectional,” Wang Wanrou replied. “He can use everyone’s abilities, and so can we. As long as your computing power is strong enough, you can use all the abilities simultaneously.”
She extended her jade-white hand, and metallic liquid flowed down her arm to her palm, transforming into a thumb-sized girl in a light feather dress, who began to dance gracefully.
The girls stared at her palm, their eyes wide with amazement. Wang Wanrou’s brain must be a supercomputer. How can a normal human do this?
“Once we’ve reached this level, we can return to the underwater tunnel we came from, lure out the puppets inside, and kill them alongside the monsters Cheng Jinyang is dealing with, absorbing more blood energy to maximize our upgrading efficiency.”
After Wang Wanrou finished speaking, the girls in the sea of consciousness all showed admiration.
“Actually, this isn’t the most efficient way to upgrade,” Cheng Jinyang suddenly interjected. “If we pull Lili’s consciousness in, our abilities will rise to the third grade, expanding our range to nearly a thousand kilometers, enough to cover the entire Songjiang ruins.”
“Then we could use a Planetary Devastation technique to lift all of Songjiang into the sky and blow it up. The blood energy gains would be astronomical.”
“I can’t connect to her,” Wang Wanrou said coldly.
“Don’t give me that,” Cheng Jinyang laughed.
In the sea of consciousness, everyone’s thoughts were transparent (except for Wang Wanrou, who held the mental permissions), so Cheng Jinyang didn’t hide his suspicion, but patiently persuaded:
“Wanrou, you really don’t need to worry too much. If she wanted to harm me, wouldn’t she have just come to Jiankang City? Since she hasn’t, it means she can’t. As long as I don’t leave Jiankang, what’s the harm in meeting her in a dream…”
Before he could finish, at least three consciousnesses within him erupted in intense malice and killing intent, making Cheng Jinyang quickly clear his mind and stop talking.
“I can’t connect!” Wang Wanrou said impatiently. “I said I can’t connect, and that’s that! If you can, do it yourself!”
Cheng Jinyang fell silent, focusing on killing monsters.
Everyone else also fell into a gloomy mood, with frustration spreading through the sea of consciousness. After a long while, Li Qingwan’s hesitant, cautious voice broke the silence:
“Um, excuse me… who is Lili?”
The next morning.
When Cheng Jinyang woke up, he found himself pinned down, unable to move.
Cui Xiaoniang was curled up in his arms, her back pressed against his chest and abdomen. Her leg was draped over his thigh, the thin fabric of her nightclothes transmitting a warm, intimate sensation. Miss Wang was resting her head on his arm, facing him with her eyes closed, showing a sweet and peaceful sleeping face.
The girl behind him was hugging him tightly; judging by the feel and size, it should be Qingqing. Li Qingwan should be sleeping beside her, but he couldn’t tell her exact position. As for Xing Yuanzhi and Yang Wangshu, who were in another bed, he had no idea about them.
Cheng Jinyang tried to break free but found himself sealed in place by their arms and legs, unable to move an inch. Resigned to his fate, he could only immerse himself in this tender situation, ignoring the passage of time.
After about half an hour, or maybe an hour, or even an hour and a half, the phone on the bedside table suddenly rang.
Everyone pretended to be woken up by the noise and slowly got up from the bed.
Miss Qingqing rubbed her sleepy eyes, Wang Wanrou yawned long and leisurely, while Cui Xiaoniang stretched like a cat, lazily extending her limbs.
“Ah, Jinyang, it’s a call from your cousin,” Li Qingwan, standing by the bedside table, said as she looked at the lit-up phone screen.
Cheng Jinyang also pretended to have just woken up, groggily reaching for the phone.
“Jinyang, the guests from the Xingyang Zheng family and the Fanyang Lu family have arrived. Could you come out to meet them when you have a moment?” Cheng Yuexian asked on the phone.
“Really?” Cheng Jinyang instantly became alert, “Who are they?”
“One is Miss Zheng Qiupei, the niece of the Zheng family’s patriarch Zheng Junming; the other is Miss Lu Qingyun, the daughter of Lu Jiru, the fourth elder of the Fanyang Lu family,” Cheng Yuexian explained.
Cheng Jinyang felt a headache coming on. Here was the niece of a patriarch, there was the daughter of an elder, and both were from prestigious families. Why did they keep coming to him?
However, their names sounded somewhat familiar. He must have heard them somewhere before.
Cheng Jinyang began to recall carefully. Yes, he did have some impression of them, both were beautiful girls.
Zheng Qiupei… He had met her at the old house in Wujiang Town. Her hairstyle was similar to Ah Zhi’s with long black hair, but slightly longer. She had a gentle demeanor, a more ample chest, and was probably older than him, giving a warm, sisterly feel.
Lu Qingyun… He remembered she had come to the clan’s territory before with her brother. She had short hair, length to her neck with slightly curled ends, resembling a lively and charming junior. However, because of her brother, their first meeting wasn’t very pleasant, and there was no chance to mend their relationship afterward.
Heh, no wonder my brain remembers so clearly.
Miss Wang always mocks my memory, but isn’t this proof that I’m good at remembering people?
