Most of the military officers hit by my magic lost their sense of balance and stood there in a daze. They were surely shocked by the phenomenon of magic causing objects to vibrate in resonance. Although I did not experience it myself, it felt as if I were forced to listen to the sound of a chalkboard being scraped by nails at full volume. This dangerous power, if overused, could instill terror and even shatter one’s mind.
If I had gathered my magic more carefully, it could have produced a soothing, almost spa-like effect—as if one were enjoying a relaxing piano performance while getting a facial. But there was no point in relaxing the officers now, so I did not do that.
“Oh, oh—indeed, Lord Minashiro, your hidden magic is truly astonishing! I, Getrard, am in awe!”
Inside the tent, only Getrard managed to remain standing, although his knees trembled uncontrollably. (By the way, when everyone calls me “Lord Minashiro,” it is a form of address once used for royalty—a remnant from when we were royals, meant as a caution.)
“Getrard, do not overdo it. It will harm your body.”
Well, I suppose I am the one who weakened their legs.
“Nonsense! This trembling is merely the shiver of a warrior! Hya!”
With that shout, Getrard pounded his own thigh with his fist, and the trembling in his legs immediately ceased.
“See? Do not underestimate an old soldier.”
What was that about? All the other officers could not even stand, yet he fixed his trembling with one swift strike. It seems that on the battlefield, experience really does speak for itself.
“I see… as expected of Getrard. My magic is like this, but tell me—do you think I can defeat Balbat?”
“Ridiculous. The only one who has ever witnessed magic of that magnitude is, without doubt, Lord Minashiro.”
I asked Getrard with a slightly strained expression, and he answered with a barely contained smile.
“So then, what shall we do, Getrard?”
I then smiled confidently and asked him again. I felt that if Getrard agreed with me, the rest of the officers would follow suit.
“It is obvious—we must crush those accursed Naiya princes with our own hands!”
Satisfied with Getrard’s answer, I nodded in a relaxed and confident manner. Then, suddenly, Getrard, like an old beast awakened to passion, roared, “Uoooo!”
I wondered how terrifying it is when a person acts so unexpectedly. Before I knew it, I was absentmindedly fidgeting with a gold coin in my right hand.
“You lot, what are you dawdling for? In the face of our mortal enemy Naiya, your cowardice is pitiful. Get up—stand up, all of you!”
With that command, Getrard banged each officer on the backside, forcefully rousing them from their stupor.
“Ha…! Uoooo! What power—this is the magic of Lord Minashiro!”
“Oh, incredible… my whole body, every muscle, feels as if it is rejoicing.”
“I am trembling with emotion! I want to share this feeling with everyone!”
Startled back to their senses, the officers began shouting wildly with expressions of joy and awe. For a moment, I wondered what was happening, but then I recalled that this is common among satellite Satera-class magicians. When they sense the magic of their allied Hoshistera-class warriors, they feel supported and their fighting spirit is greatly boosted. This tactic is even used in battles between armies that include Hoshistera-class units.
Still, the power I had heard about was supposed to ignite a passion deep within the heart, yet this seems even more bestial—if that’s not just my imagination.
“Let’s go, you lot! We will crush those Naiya prince scum!”
“Oooooo!”
“…”
When Getrard shouted his rousing speech, the officers responded loudly in unison. After that, for reasons unknown, Getrard and his group left the tent with high spirits. Left alone in the tent, I muttered to myself:
“…Wait, was that really the plan?”
I recalled that Father had told me not to seek great military glory. But since I had decided to kill Balbat, I had to boost morale, and if Getrard was willing to do his best, then perhaps that was enough.
Outside the tent, Getrard and the others continued to shout orders to the soldiers working nearby, but I pretended not to notice.

Just as it seemed that preparations for the cavalry charge were about to be completed, the area outside the tent became suddenly chaotic. I wondered what was happening when an officer with an unreadable expression entered the tent.
“A messenger!”
This female officer, with her inscrutable face, always made it hard to tell what she was thinking. Still, since she was the only woman among the officers, I personally decided to favor her. In fact, our unit has very few women—I have seen only about one woman in every hundred soldiers up to now.
“What is it this time?”
I asked her politely, and after taking a deep breath, she began to speak.
“Out of the 20,000 Naiya soldiers, about half—including those of Hoshistera-class—suddenly began to perform ‘Maten-maten’ and moved toward the north. The remaining half have stayed behind to obstruct our advance.”
Huh?
