Episode 3: The Goddess Changes the Parameters of the World

　Goddess Alice appeared before me looking a little impatient.

　It looks like she planned to go to a nearby town to check out the effect of the parameter changes.

　They look like a master stonemason and his apprentice.

“I wonder if they could cut it out in that condition,” said one onlooker.

“I don’t know. The crushed cart underneath is wobbly, and we can’t put the wood together, so it might be difficult,” replied anothet passerby standing next to me.

　I was watching as a curious bystander when Goddess Alice suddenly interrupted, “Ryuuji, you should help him.”

“Ah? Well, never mind. If I use my powers, I’ll stand out, right?”

　Suddenly, the goddess made an important announcement.

　Is that the kind of world it is? I wish you had told me that sooner.

　I stepped out of the line of onlookers and called out to a man who seemed to be the boss.

“What? Don’t interrupt me.”

“Do you want to split this rock in two?”

“Yes. Can you do that?”

“Yeah, maybe.”

　I lightly fired the beam at a rock lying nearby and cut it to demonstrate.

“Wow, seriously? You’re a wizard? That’s amazing.”

　The apprentices around him were also astounded. The master picked up the broken stone and tried it.

“Wow, the cut is beautiful. I’ve never seen a wizard who can do something like this.”

　Huh? Did I do something more amazing than I thought? Oh well.

　I cut the stone vertically as instructed.

　At the boss’s command, the apprentices all began loading the cut stones onto the cart.

“Are you a stonemason, by any chance?”

　The stonemason master asked as he watched his apprentices load the cart.

“No, that’ not necessary. I’m just a traveller. I haven’t even decided on an inn yet.”

　The stonemason removed the leather bag he was carrying from his waist and pushed it towards me. It was probably a coin purse.

“Alice.”

“…I get it. I’m a stonemason. My name is Otto. So, please bring one of my apprentices with you. I’m sure they can at least show you around the inn.”

　With that, the stonemason Otto and his apprentices pulled the cart away.

“You shouldn’t turn down people’s kindness. Plus, it makes things easier that way.”

　I still had feelings of wanting to return to Earth, so it felt strange to make acquaintances in this world.

　Once inside the town, the streets were surprisingly lively. The main street stretched straight out from the gate, slowly climbing up to the hill in the center of town.

　On both sides of the street are rows of old but sturdy buildings, many of which have stone foundations. They give the area an overall rough appearance, but it’s clear that they were once prosperous.

　There was nothing particularly unusual about the people walking around. Well, it looked like the Middle Ages or earlier. Is that a given?

“The town seems normal. But you seems a bit goddess-like.”

　Goddess Alice said with satisfaction.

　The stonemason’s apprentice boy, Il, who was listening next to him, had a puzzled look on his face.

“This is a nice town,” I told the boy.

“Oh, yes. Thank you very much. So, are you looking for a place to stay?”

“Any recommendations?”

“Well, I recommend an inn called Zeita.”

“What’s special about it?”

“It’s beautiful, and the food is delicious. And…”

“And?”

“The women are beautiful,” the boy said bashfully.

　With the guidance of the boy Il, we were welcomed at the inn.
