- Chapter 66 - A Strange Atmosphere
“Orson, can I visit your dormitory?” Olivia suddenly asked.
“Hmm? Why the sudden interest in my dorm?”
“I want to see Litte. After all, if we end up getting married in the future, Litte would technically be my little brother-in-law. Taking care of my brother-in-law and making sure you’re not bullying him doesn’t seem unreasonable, right?”
“I haven’t even considered marriage…”
“That’s why I said if. Since Litte might be my future little brother-in-law, of course, I should look after him.”
“Fine, I’ll just assume you want to see Litte.” Orson half-heartedly agreed to Olivia’s request. “You can come, but let’s be clear—you’re only visiting my dorm, so don’t expect any strange developments.”
“Of course, I know that.” Olivia nodded. “Orson, don’t tell me you’re the one expecting something to happen?”
As she said this, she gasped dramatically, covering her mouth in mock surprise.
“Could it be that you actually…”
“Stop!” Orson interrupted hastily.
He had almost fallen for Olivia’s tricks again.
The cunning woman before him was constantly toying with Orson’s emotions.
And yet, it was Orson himself who had insisted on maintaining distance between them.
She always used those ambiguous words, navigating the gray area—never crossing the line, yet leaving Orson restless and unsettled.
This woman was a master.
This only strengthened Orson’s resolve not to give in easily.
“Alright, alright. If we’re done here, we should head back,” Olivia said.
“Mm.” Orson nodded.
Olivia left the office first, turning back to look at Orson.
“Shall we go?”
—
Half an hour later, watching Olivia stroll through the commercial street, Orson rubbed his forehead in exasperation.
So, no matter the era, is shopping just a natural instinct for women?
At first, Olivia had justified it by saying, “It wouldn’t be right to visit Litte for the first time without bringing a gift.”
But before long, the shopping trip had turned into her buying things for herself.
Fortunately, Olivia eventually reined herself in.
“Orson, do you know if Litte has anything he particularly likes?”
“Hmm…” Orson thought for a moment, glancing around the commercial street.
In his memory, Litte hadn’t shown a particularly strong interest in anything specific.
Just as Orson was at a loss, he noticed a barbecue shop at the end of the street.
The shop’s sign was the same as the one from before—“1453 Barbecue.”
“I know what Litte likes,” Orson said, pointing to the barbecue shop. “Litte seems to really enjoy barbecue. If you buy him some from that shop, I’m sure he’ll love it.”
“Oh? He’s a foodie?” Olivia blinked in surprise, then chuckled. “That’s such a simple preference.”
“Well, what can you do? Litte’s still growing, after all.”
“At eighteen? Are you sure he’s still growing?”
“Why not? Are you underestimating our Litte?” Orson said, putting on a dissatisfied expression.
“Pfft, not at all,” Olivia said with a laugh as she walked up to the 1453 Barbecue shop. She approached the shopkeeper, a friendly-looking man with a white headscarf and a bushy beard, and ordered a large portion of barbecue.
The shopkeeper packed the barbecue into a box and handed it to Olivia.
“Okay, is this enough?” Olivia said, glancing at Orson.
“Mm.”
With that, the two made their way back to the dormitory area.
—
As soon as Orson reached the door, it opened from the inside.
Litte greeted Orson with a bright smile.
“Welcome back, Orson. Did you finish all your work for the day?” Litte asked as she skillfully took Orson’s coat and hung it on the rack.
Olivia watched Litte’s practiced movements and couldn’t help but smirk.
This feels like something a newlywed wife would do for her husband.
With Litte’s long black hair and delicate, feminine features, the resemblance was uncanny.
Orson, however, simply nodded out of habit.
Over the past few days, whenever Orson came home later than Litte, he was always met with this treatment. At first, he found it a bit odd, but he had since grown used to it.
At that moment, Orson introduced the person behind him.
“Ah, Litte, this is one of my colleagues from the Student Council. You should know her.”
Seeing a woman behind Orson, and realizing it was Olivia, Litte’s expression immediately turned cold.
“I know her. She’s the Student Council Vice President, Senior Olivia.”
Litte said this, her tone turning noticeably icy.
“Uh…” Orson was at a loss. He couldn’t figure out what Olivia had done to upset Litte. Ever since Orson had told Litte that his fiancée had changed to Olivia, Litte had been visibly unhappy.
Litte’s face practically screamed “unwelcome.”
Olivia, of course, sensed Litte’s displeasure. Though she didn’t know the reason for it, she forced a smile and stepped inside.
“Litte, I came to see you. I even brought your favorite barbecue.” As Olivia handed the packaged box to Litte, she maintained a warm smile.
There’s a saying: “Don’t hit someone who’s smiling at you.” Aside from being Orson’s fiancée, Olivia hadn’t done anything wrong.
Litte realized she had been a bit rude. After all, Olivia was someone Orson had brought home, and no matter what, she couldn’t embarrass him. Olivia had offered her an easy way to smooth things over, so Litte took it.
“Thank you, Senior Olivia,” Litte said with a sweet smile as she accepted the box and placed it on the coffee table.
Seeing the atmosphere between the two ease up, Orson felt relieved.
At least he hadn’t misjudged Litte’s preferences, and Litte still seemed to retain that childlike innocence, lighting up with joy as soon as he received a gift.
Of course, he had no idea that this happiness was entirely an act on Litte’s part.
The three of them sat in the living room and began chatting.
“I didn’t expect Senior Olivia, as Orson’s fiancée, to go out of her way to visit me at home,” Litte said, half-joking and half-sarcastic. “Senior Olivia, could it be that your intentions aren’t entirely pure? Are you trying to secure your place as my sister-in-law ahead of time?”
Litte thought that if her words were sharp enough, Olivia might reconsider her relationship with Orson and at least stop following him home so casually.
Today, she was at home, but what if one day she wasn’t? What if Olivia took the opportunity to seduce Orson and ended up in bed with him?
“Eh? Litte, is that really what you think?” Olivia, hearing this, covered her mouth in surprise and then said: “Well, that’s not entirely impossible, but… we’d still have to see what Orson thinks…”
As she said this, she deliberately lowered her head, pretending to look shy.
