- Chapter 86 - Maid Litte (3/3)
(TL Note: I corrected the First Prince’s name, from Alsace to Arthas.)
Elsewhere, Orson was giving Arthas a tour of the academy.
“Brings back memories,” Arthas said, looking around nostalgically. “I used to live here a few years ago. It still looks as beautiful as it did back then.”
“Such a pity. Once you leave the Imperial Academy, it feels like you’re no longer fit to come back and disturb the younger generation.”
“Your Highness, you must be joking. The Imperial Academy has always been a home for every student,” Orson said quickly. “I’m sure everyone would be thrilled to welcome Your Highness back for a visit at any time.”
“Is that so?” Arthas smiled slightly and nodded before turning to Elsa.
“Elsa, I heard you’re already a Tier 6 mage?”
“Yes.” Elsa nodded. “But I’m still far behind compared to you, Brother.”
“You’re being too modest. You’re not lacking compared to my younger self at all. Father is already very pleased with your progress,” Arthas said, shaking his head before glancing at Orson.
“And besides, we have someone even more extraordinary right here.”
“Oh, no, no. I could never compare to Your Highness,” Orson said with an awkward smile.
For some reason, from the very beginning, Orson had felt that Arthas was subtly targeting him.
But he could understand why. As one of the Empire’s most promising young talents, Orson was often compared to Arthas. It was only natural that Arthas might harbor some feelings about it—especially since Orson had been breaking many of the records Arthas had set at the academy.
“By the way, if I’m not mistaken, this is around the time for the class activities, isn’t it?” Arthas asked, seemingly attempting to ease the slightly tense and awkward atmosphere.
“Yes,” Orson nodded. “The academy opens to visitors in about half an hour. Each class has its own activity schedule for the morning.”
“What’s your class doing?” Arthas asked Orson.
“Uh…” Orson hesitated for a moment before answering. “Your Highness, we’re running a café.”
“Oh?” Arthas raised an eyebrow. “That sounds rather interesting. Why don’t you take me to see it?”
“Of course,” Orson nodded and led Arthas toward the teaching building.
—
“Alright, everyone, just about half an hour until we open. The café will operate for the entire morning, so everyone, stick to your assigned tasks.”
On the podium, Therese was organizing the students and delegating responsibilities.
Meanwhile, Orson arrived at the classroom with Arthas and Elsa in tow.
“Welcome!” At the entrance, a maid and a server greeted them politely, standing on either side of the door. Though the sight of guests arriving early was unexpected, their bows were respectful—especially since they recognized the identities of the newcomers.
Following the greetings, Orson led Arthas and Elsa into the classroom.
Thanks to magic, the classroom had been transformed the day before into a proper café, complete with tables, chairs, and even a small room set up as a kitchen.
“Welcome~” As the guests entered, the students inside bowed in unison.
Truth be told, getting these students—most of whom were from noble or wealthy backgrounds—to willingly serve others had been no easy feat. The teachers had spent significant time convincing them to treat it as just a one-morning “experience.”
However, seeing the three prominent figures who had just entered, the students’ actions seemed far more genuine.
“Not bad at all,” Arthas said with a smile as he found a seat.
Orson and Elsa quickly followed, sitting down beside him.
“Your Highness, this café is a joint activity between Class 2-1 and Class 1-1.”
“Oh, I heard your brother Litte is in Class 1-1, isn’t he?” Arthas asked, looking at Orson.
“Yes. Not just my brother Litte—Olivia’s sister Lianca is also in Class 1-1,” Elsa added.
“How coincidental,” Arthas said with a soft chuckle.
—
Meanwhile, in the crowd, Litte spotted Orson entering the classroom with Elsa and Arthas. Panicked, she quickly ducked behind the other students to avoid being seen.
At that moment, Therese patted her on the shoulder.
“Hey, Litte, your brother is here,” she said before giving Litte a little push, forcing her forward.
Arthas noticed Litte approaching and smiled. “Excuse me, could we place an order?”
With everyone’s eyes now on her, Litte had no choice but to step forward, despite her reluctance.
“Um… W-Welcome. May I take your order?” Litte stammered, holding the menu in one hand while nervously tugging at the hem of her skirt with the other. Her cheeks flushed as she shyly looked at the trio.
Hearing the familiar voice, Orson raised his head and looked at him.
And then, he froze.
“Litte?” he asked, blinking in disbelief.
“Yes,” Litte nodded softly. “Good morning, Orson.”
Seeing the bashful little maid in front of him, Orson found it nearly impossible to reconcile his appearance with that of his younger brother.
This… this is supposed to be a boy?!
Arthas, observing the scene, smiled mischievously.
“Orson, is this your brother, Litte?” He deliberately emphasized the word “brother,” clearly enjoying Orson’s discomfort.
“Yes,” Orson replied, his expression awkward. “What’s going on? Why are you dressed like this?”
“I… Professor Hecatia said there weren’t any other outfits left,” Litte explained.
“So she made you wear a maid outfit?” Orson turned to glance at Hecatia, who was standing nearby.
“Doesn’t it look great, though?” Therese interjected, stepping in to diffuse tension while teasing Orson. “What do you think, Orson? Don’t you find Litte adorable? Maybe even… heart-fluttering?”
After overcoming his initial shock, Orson regained his composure. Seeing Litte blushing so furiously he might as well have been steaming, he couldn’t help but smile.
“To be honest, Litte does look unexpectedly cute in this outfit,” he said, easing the awkwardness a little. Then, he added, “Alright, Litte, aren’t you going to hand us the menu so we can order?”
“Ah, sorry!” Litte quickly handed over the menu, her face still bright red.
Arthas took the menu, skimmed through it, and casually ordered a cup of coffee. Elsa and Orson followed suit, and the menu was returned to Litte.
“Understood. Please wait a moment while I prepare your order,” Litte said, bowing deeply before scurrying off to the kitchen.
“I didn’t expect your brother to have such hobbies,” Arthas said with a playful smirk.
“Haha, neither did I,” Orson replied, laughing awkwardly.
—
At that moment, more guests began arriving at the café. Most were academy faculty and other students, and soon the café was bustling with activity.
In the kitchen, Litte took a deep breath, trying to calm herself.
Appearing in front of Orson dressed like that had pushed her embarrassment to its limit.
“This is exactly why I didn’t want to wear this outfit…” Litte muttered under her breath.
Still, Orson didn’t seem to dislike her appearance.
She had already braced herself for Orson’s disdainful reaction—maybe even a remark about her being “too effeminate.”
But none of that happened. Instead, Orson had looked at her for a long time, his gaze filled with… appreciation?
While the thought embarrassed her to no end, it also made her feel a little happy.
At least this meant that, as a girl, she had some charm.
