- Chapter 206 - Dismantling the Garalgon
By the time we exchanged the ingredients for money and handed over the Garalgon, the sky had completely darkened.
The flowers spreading across the Reilert family’s garden were bathed in the setting sun, displaying hues different from those of the daytime.
“It’s gotten quite late. I apologize for keeping you for so long, especially right after your return.”
“No, please don’t worry about it. This is part of the job.”
Submitting collected materials, providing explanations, and exchanging them for money—these were all duties of an adventurer who had taken on a request.
“I’d like to prepare dinner using both the ingredients from the reserve and the ones you brought back, but if you or Fran are still fatigued, we can postpone it to another day. What do you think?”
Artorius was being considerate, but as he glanced restlessly at the Garalgon, it was obvious that he wanted to eat it tonight.
Seeing her father like that, Franryule let out a small, amused smile.
“Thank you. Then, let’s do it tonight.”
“Oh! That makes me happy, but are you two really alright?”
“We ate some Queen Ant honey and Byron meat on the way, so we’re hardly tired.”
“If anything, I feel like I have too much energy to spare.”
Normally, after a tiring day, a grand dinner would be postponed until tomorrow, but thanks to the food, Franryule and I had almost no fatigue left.
“Hmm? So you ate before me—how unfa–… I was wondering why you two seemed so energetic, and now I see why. In that case, I’ll take you up on your offer and make it tonight.”
Did he almost say “unfair”? Let’s just pretend we didn’t hear that honest thought nearly slip from Artorius’s mouth.
“Begin dismantling the Garalgon!”
As we nodded, Artorius immediately gave orders to the servants.
From the mansion, a group of people dressed in chef’s uniforms emerged.
In their hands, they carried large knives, axes, and saws—an unsettlingly dangerous-looking crew.
“Who are they?”
“They are the chefs of the Reilert family,” Franryule answered in place of Artorius, who was still giving instructions.
“Rather than chefs, they look more like adventurers heading out for a hunt.”
“Half of them are actually adventurers who hunt for ingredients, so your assumption isn’t wrong, Shuu-san.”
For chefs, they had remarkably sturdy builds and exuded an unusual aura. As expected, they really were adventurers.
Since they prepare ingredients and monsters inhabiting the reserve, they must require skills beyond those of ordinary chefs.
One of the chefs attempted to melt the Garalgon’s ice with fire magic.
It seemed they were capable of using magic as well.
However, perhaps due to insufficient magic output, they were unable to melt my ice.
Even when several of them combined their fire magic and attacked it together, the ice spell I had cast showed no signs of melting. The chefs using magic appeared bewildered.
“Will this be alright?”
“An extraordinary amount of magic power was infused into it, so I don’t think anyone but you can melt it, Shuu-san.”
Hearing Franryule say that, I decided to step forward and melt the ice myself.
“Flame.”
After asking the chefs to step back, I cast an intermediate fire spell.
The ice encasing the Garalgon melted away in an instant, and within less than three minutes, it had completely disappeared.
“That’s incredible, big bro!”
“I’ve never seen anyone with such ridiculous magic power!”
“No wonder Artorius-sama took a liking to you as an adventurer!”
As soon as the ice was thawed, the burly chefs patted my shoulders and back vigorously in praise.
I appreciated the compliments, but their heavy-handed pats were no joke.
“I’m honored. Will you be alright with the dismantling?”
“This is our first time dismantling one of these, but we’re chefs, after all. Just leave it to us.”
I offered to help with the dismantling, but the chefs politely declined.
It seemed they had their own pride as professionals.
Observing from a distance, I saw one of the smaller chefs patting the Garalgon’s body, giving instructions as they went.
Following the instructions, the chefs plucked the long tail feathers of the Garalgon and then lifted its wings from the shoulders to the back, dislocating the shoulder joints.
The instructions were precise. That chef might possess some kind of appraisal skill similar to mine.
Once the joints were dislocated, a chef wielding a large axe attempted to insert the blade and sever the limb. However, the Garalgon’s hardened joints deflected the strike.
The chef then used body reinforcement, infused the axe with magic power, and swung it down once more, striking the joint with full force.
This time, the Garalgon’s joint was cleanly severed, and the right wing separated from the main body.
A deep, triumphant cheer erupted from the chefs.
If they had struggled, I had planned to use my appraisal skill to guide them through the dismantling process, but it seemed unnecessary.
“Despite this being their first time dismantling this type of monster, they’re quite impressive.”
“Yes, they are the pride of our household.”
As Franryule gave a proud smile, I continued watching the dismantling of the Garalgon.

Once the dismantling was complete, the chefs gathered the ingredients and retreated to the kitchen.
Left behind, I negotiated with Artorius over the ingredients and materials, storing the necessary portions in my magic bag.
“It will take some time for dinner to be prepared. Please relax until then.”
“Understood.”
As Artorius withdrew into the mansion, I was left alone in the garden.
At some point during the negotiations, Franryule had disappeared, leaving me without anyone to chat with to pass the time.
“What should I do until dinner?”
“How about taking a bath?”
At the sudden words, my shoulders jolted.
Startled, I turned around to see the maid who had been attending to me.
It seemed she had been silently standing by, completely suppressing her presence.
Although I didn’t feel fatigued, I had been gathering materials all day and was sweating.
It would be best to clean myself up before dinner.
“Then, I’ll take you up on your offer and have a bath.”
“Understood. Allow me to guide you.”
Entering the mansion, I followed the maid down the hallway.
As we walked, Franryule suddenly appeared from around the corner—not in her magic academy uniform or a formal dress, but in a thin white one-piece dress.
Her hair was untied, damp from what seemed to be a recent bath.
Seeing her like that made my heart skip a beat, but at the same time, an indescribable awkwardness washed over me.
“Pardon me for showing you such an embarrassing sight. Please take your time, Shuu-san.”
Franryule flashed a pleasant smile before gracefully walking away.
I thought she was completely unfazed, but her walking pace was noticeably faster than usual.
She was probably embarrassed about being seen right after her bath.
Feeling slightly awkward, I eventually arrived at the bathhouse.
As I stepped into the changing room, I sensed a presence behind me.
“…Why are you following me?”
“I thought I might wash your back for you, Shuu-sama.”
“I’ll have to decline that.”
“I see. Well then, please take your time and relax.”
After politely refusing, the maid bowed and left the changing room.
Having a beautiful maid wash my back sounded tempting, but there was no way I would be able to relax. Since I was taking a bath, I wanted to let both my body and mind unwind.
Confirming that I was finally alone, I removed my clothes and placed them into the basket in the changing room.
I then grabbed a towel from the stack provided.
“Whoa… This feels amazing!”
【Tomari Towel – High Quality】
Made from Galar cotton, which only grows in the upper reaches of the Tomari River.
Harvested by hand to avoid damaging the fibers, ensuring a silk-like smoothness. Woven with ten times the usual amount of thread, making it highly durable and extremely absorbent.
A popular luxury gift, priced at three gold coins per piece.
Curious, I appraised it and found that it was quite a luxurious towel.
“As expected of a noble’s mansion… Even the furnishings are flawless.”
It seemed that sparing no expense, even on the smallest details, was the way of the wealthy.
Admiring the quality of the amenities, I opened the door and stepped further inside.
Upon entering the bathhouse, I saw a large circular bathtub made of marble in the center.
Several pillars stood around it, and colorful light streamed in through the stained-glass windows.
At the far end, water continuously flowed from a sacred chalice held by a robust male statue.
Dim magical lights on the ceiling and walls cast a soft glow, giving the space a tranquil and serene atmosphere.
Though there weren’t many bathtubs, I found this simple design quite appealing.
I moved to the washing area at the side and began cleansing my hair and body.
After washing my hair, I lathered soap onto the towel to wash my body.
“Incredible… Look at this foam.”
Even with just a small amount of soap, a thick lather formed instantly.
The soap was undoubtedly of high quality, but the towel’s effectiveness played a major role as well.
Maybe when I return to Grantel, I should consider buying a high-end towel for myself.
As I thought about such things, I used the fluffy foam to wash away dirt and oils before finally stepping into the bath.
Placing the towel on my head, I slowly submerged my body into the warm water.
The soothing heat enveloped me completely.
“Haa… this feels amazing.”
A sigh-like murmur escaped my lips.
Even though eating the Queen Ant’s honey had restored my energy, it seemed that my muscles were still fatigued.
I could feel the tension from strenuous activity gradually dissolving as my muscles relaxed. My blood vessels opened up, allowing proper circulation throughout my body.
How many years had it been since I last soaked in such a vast bath all by myself?
Grantel had public bathhouses, but none with a tub this large, and certainly none where I could bathe alone.
Having an entire grand bathhouse to myself—just that alone made coming here worthwhile.
