Isekai Nonbiri Sozai Saishu Seikatsu - Chapter 215
After completing the Stan Needle demonstration, we returned to Grantel.
Since Lumia and Saffy had work to attend to, we parted ways at the central plaza, and I headed to the Adventurers’ Guild to deliver the materials.
When I arrived at the guild, Rabis was not at the reception desk.
She was probably busy running around due to this morning’s incident. In that case, it would be best to report to another receptionist.
The line at Shreddi’s desk was particularly long, as she was quite popular.
Normally, I would avoid it and go to Rabis, but since Shreddi had processed my collection request, it made sense to report to her directly.
Not that I was lining up just because Shreddi was beautiful or anything.
“Next, please.”
After waiting for a while, the adventurer queue finally thinned out.
Hearing Shreddi’s call, I stepped forward to the reception desk.
“Welcome back, Shuu-san. How did the request go?”
She greeted me with a refined smile.
She rarely smiled when we spoke casually, yet during work, she could put on such a charming expression. Now I understood why adventurers willingly waited in long lines just to see her.
“I successfully collected the materials and came to deliver the crystals.”
“Understood. Please place them on the table.”
“Got it.”
Following her instructions, I took twenty crystals out of my magic bag.
“This is…!”
The moment she saw the crystals, Shreddi’s smile vanished, and she carefully examined each one with a serious expression.
“Not a single scratch, and none of the magic power has leaked. All twenty are unquestionably of the highest quality.”
“Thank you.”
I already knew from my Appraisal Skill that they were of the highest quality, but having a guild staff member personally evaluate them still felt gratifying.
“With this level of quality, you would likely get a higher price selling them to a merchant association you have ties with rather than delivering them to the guild.”
“I don’t have any merchant associations I’m particularly close to, and searching for one would be a hassle, so I’d prefer to sell them to the Adventurers’ Guild.”
“Are you certain about that?”
“Yes, I don’t mind.”
I knew I could make more profit elsewhere, but I wasn’t particularly desperate for money.
Besides, with the Kraken and Geinos incidents, I had caused some trouble for Rabis and the other guild staff. I considered this a way to make up for it.
“We appreciate your consideration.”
Perhaps sensing my feelings, Shreddi didn’t press the issue any further and simply accepted the crystals.
“The reward for completing the request is twenty silver coins, but given the exceptional quality, we will pay you fifty silver coins instead.”
Undervaluing high-quality materials would harm the Adventurers’ Guild’s reputation. Since they were offering the increased amount, I saw no reason to refuse and accepted the full payment.
After finishing my report, I left the guild and headed to the southwestern craftsmen’s district.
Even after splitting the glass mouse crystals with Lumia and Saffy and selling twenty to the guild, I still had some left.
Since they were of excellent quality, I figured I’d take them to Rosca, who loved beautiful materials.
With that in mind, I made my way through the southwestern workshop district and arrived at Drogan’s workshop.
Passing through the rugged iron door, I stepped inside.
At the reception desk, Rosca was seated, working on something by hand, but as soon as she noticed me, her fox ears perked up, and she stood up.
“Ah! Shuu-san!”
“It’s been a while, Rosca-san.”
“It really has! Shuu-san, you should come by more often!”
I usually drop by whenever I get materials that could be used for decorations or weapon crafting, but that probably wasn’t what Rosca meant.
“Sorry about that. I’ll try to visit more often, even when I don’t have something to sell.”
“That’s the spirit!”
It seemed my answer was the correct one, as Rosca nodded in satisfaction.
As we were talking, Drogan emerged from the back, carrying some weapons.
It looked like he was about to display the newly completed weapons in the store.
“Hello, Drogan-san.”
“I figured it was you causing all this commotion, Rosca. Haven’t seen you around lately. Where’ve you been gathering materials?”
Drogan tended to stay cooped up in his workshop working, but it seemed he had noticed my absence from town.
Also, he automatically assumed that if I wasn’t in town, I must have been out gathering materials. Well, he wasn’t wrong.
“I took on a request from the Reilart family and was gathering materials in the Gourmet Sanctuary.”
“The Gourmet Sanctuary! You mean that famous place with all those top-tier ingredients?!”
Hearing where I had been, Rosca raised her voice in shock.
It seemed even non-adventurers knew about the Reilart family’s Gourmet Sanctuary.
“That’s right. There were plenty of delicious ingredients and rare materials, so I brought some in today.”
“What kind of materials?!”
“It’s the carapace of a Queen Ant. It’s not particularly hard, but it has a beautiful color, so I thought it might be suitable for decorative items.”
“Oh! This has a unique luster, different from ores or shells, with a purplish tint! Thank you so much! This is absolutely usable!”
Rosca excitedly examined the Queen Ant’s carapace.
I was glad to see they were happy with it.
“Next, I have the carapace of a Soldier Ant.”
“Oh, that’s a good one. It has decent hardness while being lightweight, making it a popular armor material among novice to mid-tier adventurers. If we put it up for sale, it’ll definitely sell.”
Unlike the Queen Ant’s carapace, this wasn’t a particularly rare material, but for a blacksmith, it seemed like a reliable source of income.
“I have a large quantity of them. How many would you like to purchase?”
“Hmm, if you have them in stock, give me about fifty pieces. If that’s not enough, I might order more later.”
“Understood. I’ll bring the additional stock later.”
“I’ll be counting on you.”
Since I had over a hundred pieces of Soldier Ant material, I wouldn’t run out anytime soon. Even if they needed more, I could easily supply them.
“Also, this isn’t from the Gourmet Sanctuary, but I recently collected some Glass Mouse Crystals.”
“Glass Mouse Crystals? Hmm, if the quality isn’t good, they won’t be usable for decorations, you know?”
Rosca, seemingly knowledgeable about Glass Mouse Crystals, looked a bit concerned.
“No need to worry. I collected them with almost no deterioration.”
Saying that, I took the Glass Mouse Crystals out of my magic bag.
Rosca immediately grabbed them at an astonishing speed.
“This translucent brilliance! The magic power hasn’t leaked out at all, and there’s zero degradation! I’ve never seen Glass Mouse Crystals this beautiful!”
Holding the crystal up to the light, Rosca’s eyes sparkled.
“If they’re this beautiful, do you think they could be used for decorations?”
“Of course they can be used! Thank you so much, Shuu-san9!”
“I-I’m glad you like it.”
Rosca grabbed my hand and started shaking it excitedly.
Perhaps due to her excitement, her beastkin strength was fully on display.
I felt like my shoulder might dislocate.
“The next flea market will feature decorations made from Queen Ant carapaces and Glass Mouse Crystals!”
Once the purchase was complete, Rosca, holding the materials, shouted enthusiastically.
It seemed that the items I brought as souvenirs had sparked her creative spirit.
The materials, rather than being left to gather dust in my magic bag, would likely be happier being transformed into beautiful creations by Rosca’s hands.
I’m really looking forward to the next flea market.
