- Chapter 49 - Trapped
Trapped
Silence filled the entire rental room, and the curtains reflected the distant and intricate lights.
Everything seemed to be in a peaceful slumber.
Only the “tick-tock” sound of the clock’s hands moving could be heard in the room.
And the gentle breath of the girl in his arms.
Kimura lowered his head, looking at Asuka, who had her cheek against his chest, and slowly retracted his slightly numb arm.
The faint white light outside the window fell on Asuka’s jet-black, silky, and shiny long hair, creating a silver-white glow.
A strand of hair hung on the girl’s serene sleeping face.
Although Kimura had been comforting her throughout the night, Asuka still cried a few times because of the ticket incident.
Her once adorable eyes now appeared somewhat swollen and red.
Hidden beneath her messy hair, she looked a bit pitiful.
Kimura reached out to tuck the strand of hair that hung on Asuka’s cheek behind her ear.
Come to think of it, Asuka seemed to be someone who cried easily.
Unlike her cheerful and strong image in front of the camera, she would always cry over some sentimental matters.
He really didn’t know how Asuka managed to persevere after entering the entertainment industry.
The competition in the showbiz world should be exceptionally fierce.
Lost in his thoughts, Kimura gently adjusted to a comfortable sleeping position.
Suddenly, his hand touched a slightly cold hot water bag in Asuka’s embrace.
It had been quite a while since he had put his girlfriend to sleep, and now he decided to get up and go to the kitchen, taking the hot water bag with him.
During Asuka’s menstrual period, Kimura would heat up a kettle of water every night.
Opening the hot water bag cap, he poured out the water inside.
Illuminated by the faint light from outside the living room window, that ugly-cute cat began to shrink.
Transforming into the adorable, slightly chubby kitten pattern.
After filling the hot water bag, Kimura, holding the now cute again cat-shaped hot water bag, returned to the bedroom.
He placed it in Asuka’s embrace.
With the plush layer of the hot water bottle and Asuka’s pajamas, the temperature shouldn’t be too hot.
After completing these tasks, Kimura lay back next to Asuka.
A gentle rustling sound emanated from beside him, and a soft sensation reached his arm.
Lowering his head, he met a pair of brimming, jet-black eyes.
Asuka gently rested her cheek on his arm, her soft hands encircling his arm.
The scent of the pleasant jasmine fragrance enveloped Kimura, emanating from the girl’s body.
Kimura moved his body slightly, but due to Asuka’s arm encircling him, he found it difficult to move.
It seems…
Tonight, sleep might be a bit restless.
……
Early morning.
Kimura held a piece of bread in one hand and scrolled through his phone with the other.
According to the original plan, he should be on his way to Shibuya to watch the offline premiere of T-Station’s microfilm.
However.
Without a ticket, there was no need to hurry there.
Although there was a slight sense of regret, it was actually just a minor thing.
After all, the ticket was originally given by Koike Yui.
At most…
It meant not knowing the standards of those film critics.
Or perhaps he could ask Koike Yui for another movie ticket.
Kimura chewed on his bread, entertaining the idea of asking Koike Yui.
After some consideration, he dismissed this thought.
He remembered that Koike Yui had mentioned before that the tickets were a gift from T-Station, and the other tickets had already been given to other students in the film director department.
Asking wouldn’t lead to any results.
He casually scrolled through his phone screen with his fingers.
Suddenly, he saw an old rejection email in his inbox.
It was from his freshman year when he submitted a book to Hane Company, and the rejection email was the response.
It was this email that dispelled Kimura’s thoughts of writing books.
As if remembering something, Kimura put away his phone and swallowed the last bites of his bread with milk.
“Asuka, I’m going to school for a bit.” Kimura walked into the dining room holding a plate and addressed Asuka, who was sitting on the tatami mat, looking at her phone through the kitchen island.
Asuka lifted her head and nodded gently, “Okay.”
“Go and print the novelization of the script and submit it to the publishing house,” Kimura added.
Asuka paused for a moment, then her eyes curved into a smile, “Sure.”
“Oh, Hayata-chan.”
“Yes?”
“The kimono we’ll use for tomorrow’s shoot is still at home. I need to go back to get it… I won’t be home for lunch.”
“I see… then I’ll grab lunch at school around noon.”
Kimura placed the washed dishes back in the cupboard, “Want to go together?”
“No.”
Asuka shook her head, her feet in white socks stepping on the tatami mat.
“Huh?”
“It’s been a while since I went back. I want to make a bento for my little brother… Otherwise, going back empty-handed wouldn’t be nice,” Asuka explained.
Upon hearing this, Kimura recalled the picnic basket that Asuka brought from home, stored in the cupboard.Â
Since Asuka moved into the rental house, it seemed like she brought quite a few things from home. He wondered what her little brother thought…
“Just a bento? Shouldn’t we buy something else?”
“No need to waste, just a bento is enough.” Asuka decisively declined.
Well, it’s evident that it’s for her little brother.
In Kimura’s mind, a sentence surfaced inexplicably.
“Okay.”
Seeing Asuka’s confident expression, Kimura didn’t say anything more. As he walked out of the kitchen, he saw Asuka coming toward him with his backpack.
Kimura naturally took the backpack handed to him by Asuka and slung it over his shoulder.Â
At the entrance, Asuka, holding Kimura’s bag, changed into her shoes, adjusting the beige scarf around his neck.
Seemingly thinking of something, Asuka suddenly chuckled, and her clear eyes curved into a crescent shape, revealing her cute, white teeth.
“What’s so funny, Asuka?” Kimura looked at the girl in front of him with puzzlement.
Asuka smoothed the beige scarf around the young man’s neck and raised the corner of her mouth.
“It feels like a married couple after getting married. The wife is helping the husband tidy up his clothes and sending him off to work.”
The girl’s crisp voice entered Kimura’s ears, leaving him a bit stunned.Â
His gaze fell on Asuka’s delicate cheeks, and the golden sunlight streamed diagonally into the room from outside.
Spreading on the girl’s tender skin, her long eyelashes seemed to shimmer with a faint glow, trembling slightly.
“What if… I have to run away from home?”
Kimura swallowed a gulp, shifted his gaze elsewhere, and joked.
Just as he finished speaking, a force came around his neck. The soft scarf made Kimura lower his head.
Asuka tiptoed, her lips pressing against his. After a moment, their lips parted.
Kimura looked at the petite girl in front of him in a daze.Â
Asuka patted the scarf hanging in front of him with her fair and tender little hand, looking up with a smile.
“Hayata-chan won’t run away.”
The girl’s rosy lips moved gently, and in the depths of her profound eyes, there seemed to be a flicker of light.
“Huh?” Kimura stared at her in confusion.
“Because Hayata-chan, you’re already trapped by me. You can’t go anywhere.”
Under the sunlight, Asuka smiled at the corner of her mouth, and a gentle breeze from the window crept through, brushing her hair against her ears.
