Chapter 28: Will Marry No One Else

Lu Qiwen chuckled, “Once you become my wife, I’ll tell you everything, both physically and emotionally.”

Liu Suyan playfully smacked him, “You’re talking nonsense.”

Holding her delicate hand, he glanced at He Xuan and sighed, “If it’s possible, I’ll do everything I can to heal Sister Xuan’s burns.”

Feeling shy with Lu Qiwen holding her hand, Liu Suyan glanced at the sleeping He Xuan and said, “Such severe burns aren’t easy to treat.”

Though Lu Qiwen had found a pill to treat He Xuan’s injuries, he wasn’t entirely confident. Hearing Liu Suyan’s skepticism, he smiled, “Don’t underestimate me. Remember, the miraculous Beauty Pills you use were made by me.”

She rolled her eyes, “You’re not a doctor. How can I expect you to heal her burns?”

He grinned, “What if I do manage to heal her?”

Her competitive spirit flared, “If you can heal He Xuan’s burns, I’ll… I’ll do whatever you say. If you tell me to go east, I won’t go west.”

His eyes lit up, “Really? So, even before we’re married, you’re giving up control? You’ll have to serve me well then. Don’t regret it later.”

Feeling a bit regretful but unwilling to back down, she countered, “And if you can’t heal her?”

He frowned, “If I can’t, I’ll do whatever you say.”

She laughed, “Alright then. You better put your heart into it. Don’t come crying about losing your authority later.”

He gave her a suggestive look, “Seems like you’re ready to marry me. Get ready to be teased by me.”

Realizing the implication of her words, she blushed. “It’s getting late. I should head home before my parents worry.”

“Want me to walk you home?” he offered.

She laughed, “And how would you do that? Walk me all the way?”

He hesitated, feeling a bit embarrassed. Sensing she had hurt his pride, she quickly added, “Qiwen, don’t take it the wrong way. You know I’m not materialistic.”

Though he felt a bit down, he knew she didn’t mean to belittle him. He felt a pang of guilt, thinking she deserved a life of luxury, which he couldn’t yet provide.

Taking a deep breath, he gently tucked her hair behind her ear and caressed her cheek, “Suyan, I promise I’ll give you a good life. We’ll have a house and a car.”

Relieved he wasn’t upset, she nodded, “Of course. With all the Beauty Pills you’ve given me, we can easily turn them into money. Once we sell them, you’ll be a wealthy man.”

He playfully pinched her cheek, “Do I not stand tall already? Being a small-time rich guy isn’t enough. I aim to be a tycoon.”

She laughed, “Dream on. To be a tycoon, you need billions. You’ll be lucky to be a nouveau riche.”

As they left the hospital room, he playfully lunged at her, “If I’m a nouveau riche, then you’re the wife of a nouveau riche.”

A nurse’s voice interrupted them, “This is a private ward. Please keep it down.”

Blushing, he apologized, “Sorry, we’ll be quiet.”

Liu Suyan, equally embarrassed, pinched his waist, “It’s your fault. You made me lose face.”

Wincing, he said, “Alright, it’s my fault.”

In the elevator, which they shared with others, they stood quietly, not speaking.

Outside the hospital, he saw her into a car, “Call me when you get home.”

She smiled, “Do you even have your phone with you?”

Realizing he had left it at home, he shook his head, “Be careful on your way back.”

She nodded, “You take care of He Xuan. I’ll see you both tomorrow.”

Watching her car disappear into traffic, he turned to leave when a red car screeched to a halt beside him. Before he could react, the door swung open, knocking him to the ground.

A lithe figure leaped out, wielding a Tang sword. The woman exuded a fierce aura, and Lu Qiwen sensed danger, pretending to be hurt.

Two figures lunged at the woman, their movements a blur. Only a cultivator like Lu Qiwen could see them clearly. The two men, wielding large knives, attacked her with practiced precision.

Despite her skill, Lu Qiwen worried for her. The clash of metal rang out as the three exchanged blows, moving with incredible speed. In just a few moments, they had already traded over a dozen strikes.
