- Chapter 50 - The Fox Host’s Kiss
He’s gone mad. Completely mad.
Yan Xun could only think that he had lost his mind.
Looking down at the person in his arms, all he wanted now was to keep him safe, locked away at home, where no one else could ever see him.
He wanted to raise him like a canary—pampered, delicate, and too used to luxury to survive outside.
A canary that could only ever belong to him.
Yan Xun’s gaze drifted to Li Cheng’s bare feet, gleaming pale and smooth under the faint moonlight.
His skin was white as carved jade—flawless. Even his feet were beautiful, as if drawn from a meticulously detailed illustration.
“Why aren’t you wearing shoes?” Yan Xun’s voice softened with indulgence.
“They got wet,” the person in his arms mumbled.
Yan Xun hooked an arm under his knees and lifted him easily. “It’s cold here. I’ll carry you to the car.”
“Mm…” Li Cheng wrapped his arms around Yan Xun’s neck and leaned against his shoulder, murmuring softly.
After reaching the bank, Yan Xun walked toward where the car was parked—it took about three minutes in total.
Li Cheng cast a sideways glance at him, his expression unreadable. I’m already like this, and he still doesn’t react?
[Fox Host, what kind of reaction are you expecting?]
Why isn’t he kissing me?
[Can’t you take the initiative? You’re a fox. If you can’t handle a mere mortal, imagine how hard Heaven’s going to laugh at you.]
?????
Feeling Li Cheng’s body temperature finally warming up, Yan Xun’s frown eased a little.
Then, a ticklish sensation brushed his neck. Lowering his gaze slightly, he saw Li Cheng’s fingers tracing circles there, as if drawing something invisible.
“Still black…” Li Cheng muttered in dissatisfaction.
“What’s black?” Yan Xun asked, confused.
Li Cheng’s tone softened, his voice delicate like a white lotus in bloom. “Do you… like someone else?”
“I don’t!” Yan Xun blurted out before he even realized, his voice louder and faster than intended.
“Then why don’t you like me?” Li Cheng looked straight into his eyes as he spoke.
Yan Xun’s steps halted.
His hold on Li Cheng tightened unconsciously.
“Why are you pinching me…” Li Cheng’s hand slipped down, circling Yan Xun’s waist instead.
Yan Xun didn’t answer. The car was just ahead. He opened the door and directly tossed Li Cheng inside.
“Hey—” Li Cheng barely had time to react before he was thrown into the seat. Instinctively, he grabbed Yan Xun by the neck.
Yan Xun’s dark, ink-stained eyes flashed with surprise—but only for a second before returning to calm. “What? The famous actor wants a scandal with me now?”
“I’m not afraid,” Li Cheng replied boldly.
He tugged Yan Xun’s neck down, lips parting slightly, his voice soft and hazy, carrying a teasing, drunken charm:
“There was a party earlier. I drank a bit. Do you want a taste?”
Kneeling slightly on the car seat, Yan Xun’s breath grew heavier as he stared down at him. “You really live up to your name, Little Fox.”
He caught Li Cheng’s chin between his fingers. “Tell me—have you ever looked at anyone else with those same eyes?”
“Why do you want to know?”
“So I can dig their eyes out, of course.” Yan Xun’s voice was sharp and chillingly serious, enough to make anyone believe he wasn’t joking.
“Besides you, there’s no one else,” Li Cheng whispered, eyes glazed with drunkenness.
Yan Xun’s grip tightened around his chin. “You’re seducing me again, aren’t you? Is this for Yan Jin?”
A flash of anger crossed his eyes at the name.
At that, Li Cheng released him and slid backward, his movements cold and distant, as though he didn’t want to touch him anymore.
Yan Xun froze. He realized he must have said something wrong.
Li Cheng turned his face away, tears welling up again. “What exactly do you take me for?”
His fingers clenched tightly. “You always say you’re different from Yan Jin—that you’re not the same person…”
His voice cracked, trembling with hurt. “But have you ever once thought about how I feel?”
He wiped the tears from his cheeks, looking utterly heartbroken.
“You two have the same body, the same face… How am I supposed to love one and not the other? To me, you’re the same—you’re both you. What am I supposed to do?”
“I like you… What am I supposed to do?”
Tears shimmered in Li Cheng’s eyes, reddening their corners. “Tell me… what should I do?”
His words left Yan Xun momentarily stunned, struck speechless.
Li Cheng turned away again, closing his eyes as bigger tears rolled down his face.
Then, in a trembling, choked voice tinged with defiance, he said—
“I don’t want to like you anymore.”
Yan Xun hesitated, his hand lifting midair. For some reason, his whole body had gone tense.
