- Chapter 79 - Say It Properly
“I’ve got one too.”
With a small smile, Zhou Ci pulled out another ice cream of his own. He unwrapped it, pointed to the swirl of cream at the tip, and his gaze turned wickedly playful.
“Why don’t you try mine instead? It’s vanilla too.”
As he spoke, he deliberately ran his tongue along the edge.
Li Cheng turned his head away, his lashes lowering. He raised his hands and signed with a stern expression: “I don’t want yours.”
The words had barely finished forming when the weight in his hand vanished.
Zhou Ci had snatched his ice cream.
He turned the treat upside down and dropped it into a glass sitting on the table. “We’re married. Why are you still so disgusted by me?”
His gaze roamed over Li Cheng’s body before settling meaningfully at the corner of his mouth. “We’ll switch. You eat mine.”
Li Cheng didn’t respond, just rolled his eyes.
Right now, Zhou Ci looked exactly like a clueless idiot trying to get closer but having no idea how.
The faint curve of Zhou Ci’s mouth softened the edge of his usual cold authority, making him look less untouchable.
Before Li Cheng could say anything, Zhou Ci seemed to think of something. “Oh, and another thing.” His dark eyes glimmered faintly. “Stop calling me Mr. Zhou.”
His tone carried a trace of seriousness. Li Cheng lifted his gaze and signed, “Then what should I call you?”
Call you “dog,” maybe?
Zhou Ci flicked his fingers, his expression unreadable. “Call me husband.”
Li Cheng’s face immediately showed his reluctance — who said you’re the husband here?
He crossed his arms in an X and signed firmly: “I’m mute. I can’t speak.”
Zhou Ci crossed his own arms, calm and self-assured. “Call me husband — in your own way. If you do, I’ll buy you new clothes.”
As he spoke, his eyes swept over Li Cheng, studying every flicker of expression.
Li Cheng glanced down at his legs, then sighed inwardly. A real man knows when to bend and when to yield.
Finally, he raised his hands and signed a single word: “Wife.”
Zhou Ci’s eyes darkened. “I can read sign language. Don’t try to trick me.”
Li Cheng gritted his teeth, muttering inwardly, Unbelievable. How can one person be this obsessed with a title?
“Try again.” Zhou Ci tilted his chin.
After half a minute of silent struggle, Li Cheng finally lifted his hands again and signed: “Dog.”
“Heh.” Zhou Ci ruffled his hair, still smiling. “You’re asking for trouble.”
He then pointed toward the glass, where the stolen ice cream had already melted.
“Tsk,” he said, feigning regret. “What a waste.”
Taking a step closer, Zhou Ci picked up his own ice cream once more and held it toward Li Cheng. “Here. Eat mine — it hasn’t melted.”
Li Cheng began to suspect there was something seriously wrong with him.
He was determined to make him eat his ice cream, as if that somehow proved Li Cheng didn’t despise him.
And he seemed completely convinced of that logic.
Li Cheng couldn’t fight him on it anymore.
After all, they were already married — and he didn’t actually dislike Zhou Ci.
So, he took the ice cream from Zhou Ci’s hand.
Just as he was about to turn and leave, Zhou Ci blocked his path.
“Kiss me first, then you can go.”
Li Cheng: ??? Do you believe I won’t hit you right now?
He rolled his eyes again and signed bluntly: “No.”
“Why not?” Zhou Ci asked.
That was when he realized something — Li Cheng wasn’t as meek and obedient as he looked.
He was more like a sly, cunning little fox.
And somehow, Zhou Ci always ended up following his lead.
For someone used to having the final word everywhere he went, that realization was deeply unsettling.
Looking down at him, Zhou Ci’s voice dropped low. “I care about you so much, do everything for you — and you won’t even give me a kiss?”
