- Chapter 80 - Dangerous Promises
When it came down to it, Zhou Ci simply didn’t want a divorce.
So now he was trying to earn some favor.
“Still mad?” Zhou Ci reached out and caught Li Cheng’s hand.
Li Cheng shot him a dark look and signed curtly: “I haven’t forgiven you yet.”
Zhou Ci rubbed the bridge of his nose, regretting having walked out of the room earlier.
Li Cheng took a step back and signed again:
“If you can’t love me, if I can’t feel your affection in the future, I’ll still divorce you.”
His expression was strikingly serious — as if it had taken a great deal of resolve to say it.
“If you don’t like me, there are plenty of people in this world who will.”
He paused for a second, the corner of his lips curving slightly before adding:
“That guy named Fan, for instance. He seemed to like me quite a bit.”
“It’s not like nobody wants me. If you keep treating me the same way as before, acting like I don’t matter, then I—”
Before he could finish, Zhou Ci seized his wrist again, cutting off his signs mid-motion.
Anger flared hot and quick across Zhou Ci’s face.
Suddenly, Li Cheng felt a force grip the back of his neck, yanking him forward.
In an instant, their faces were mere inches apart.
Zhou Ci’s heart lurched. The person in front of him — the one who even at the demon-beast bar had drawn every covetous gaze — how could anyone not like him?
His voice came out sharp, laced with fury and something darker.
“Don’t ever let me hear you mention another man in front of me again!”
The shadows in Zhou Ci’s eyes flickered, and though his tone softened slightly, he was still trying hard to keep control.
He locked eyes with Li Cheng, his words a warning. “Your heart and your eyes should only have me.”
“Don’t ever say things like that again in front of me.”
“Did you hear me?” Zhou Ci’s voice dropped as he saw Li Cheng’s small flinch, gentling almost against his will.
After a long pause, Li Cheng finally answered him, signing slowly: “I’ll only be with someone who loves me.”
Zhou Ci stared at him, the possessiveness in his gaze deepening — he wanted this person to belong to him entirely.
The thought had barely formed before it began to spiral out of control.
“I’ll make you feel my love.”
Li Cheng frowned slightly — was he seriously putting on an act right now?
【Yeah, yeah. Just hand him the Oscar already.】
【Most couples show affection — you two are out here competing for Best Actor.】
Li Cheng: “…”
Zhou Ci slid an arm around Li Cheng’s waist, pulling him closer.
His voice dropped to a low murmur. “Take my gun off.”
Li Cheng’s eyes flicked toward Zhou Ci’s arm. He reached out, unfastened the strap, and removed the soul-extraction gun.
Then he raised it and aimed the barrel directly at Zhou Ci’s heart.
His finger brushed the trigger, his movements fluid and dangerously elegant — calm, yet charged with allure.
He signed, expression steady and fearless: “So many monsters want to kill you. Aren’t you afraid I’m one of them?”
“Heh.” Zhou Ci’s voice was low. He caught the barrel of the gun and guided it upward — pressing it against his own throat. His eyes turned cold.
“If you’re going to kill someone, this spot’s faster.”
Li Cheng’s gaze moved from Zhou Ci’s chest to his neck. As expected — he’s testing me.
There were no bullets in that gun.
Li Cheng tossed it aside, then stepped forward and wrapped his arms around Zhou Ci. He signed softly, his expression trembling just enough: “All that killing and fighting… it’s scary.”
“I’m scared.”
The strange tension in Zhou Ci’s eyes eased. He reached into his pocket and pulled out a small round object.
Li Cheng blinked, curiosity flickering as he stared at the crystalline sphere glowing faintly blue in his palm.
He signed, intrigued: “What’s that? Is it for me?”
Zhou Ci leaned in close to his ear, smiling as he said, “It’s for you.”
After a beat, his smile deepened. “The flower shop lady gave it to me. Said it’s a freebie since I bought so much.”
A freebie?
Li Cheng frowned, even more confused now. He signed again: “Is it some kind of plant fertilizer?”
Immediately, he summoned A-Keng: A-Keng, help me! Zhou Ci’s trying to kill me!
