- Chapter 100 - Three Exes Unite
Chi Zheng glared at Lu He in frustration. “Hey, what the hell are you trying to pull?”
He had been drinking alone at a bar, trying to drown the pain of his heartbreak, when he suddenly got a call from Lu He.
The other man claimed it had to do with Ruan Tang.
Chi Zheng had rushed over immediately—only to find yet another of Ruan Tang’s exes, Qi Guang, already there. He scratched his head in irritation.
“If this is about Tang Tang, then why is Qi Guang here? He’s been out of the picture for ages!”
Qi Guang sneered, casting him a sidelong look.
“Don’t act like I don’t know. You’re not with Tang Tang anymore either, are you?”
Chi Zheng’s face darkened, and he slammed a fist against the table in frustration.
Lu He glanced at the two men sitting across from him, both of whom had once been with Ruan Tang. His chest tightened with jealousy.
He hadn’t even earned the right to be called her ex yet.
But right now, the situation was urgent. If he wanted to find Ruan Tang, he had no choice but to rely on these two.
The Qi family was in business, one of the most prominent merchant families in T City, and had plenty of channels to gather information.
The Chi family, with enterprises that brushed into gray areas of society, had its own intelligence network.
But the Lu family, known for its scholarly heritage and reputation in academic circles, had no such resources for finding someone.
So Lu He pulled out his phone and played a recording.
It was the call Ruan Tang had just returned, which he had secretly recorded on the side.
The moment the girl’s trembling, delicate voice spilled out, all three men clenched their fists at the same time.
“Senior… I… I’m fine… About what I said earlier… about us dating, I…”
Before the recording even finished, Chi Zheng exploded. He grabbed Lu He by the collar, eyes blazing.
“You called me here just to rub it in??”
Hearing Ruan Tang’s voice confessing to someone else was like having a knife shoved straight into his chest. His eyes went bloodshot, murderous.
Lu He frowned. “Listen to the rest.”
Qi Guang pulled Chi Zheng back.
“Shut up! Her voice doesn’t sound right.”
Chi Zheng, breathing heavily, released Lu He and forced himself to calm down before replaying the recording.
Something was indeed wrong.
And that wrongness was all too familiar.
Chi Zheng’s face twisted, becoming terrifyingly grim.
Lu He’s expression was equally dark as he added coldly:
“Before this call, Tang Tang phoned me. She said she wanted to be with me. But the line was cut off—by someone else.”
He remembered that deliberately lowered male voice. His chest burned with rage that refused to be suppressed.
Through gritted teeth, he repeated:
“That man said Tang Tang was with him. That they were at a hotel. That they’d opened a room together.”
Chi Zheng’s knuckles cracked as he clenched his fists, veins bulging.
“Damn it—it’s that bastard Gu Ming!”
Qi Guang’s face changed. “Him?”
Lu He narrowed his eyes dangerously.
“So it really was him—”
Back at the mixer, the first one to show that terrifying possessiveness toward Ruan Tang had been Gu Ming.
And afterward, his conspicuous absence around her should have been the warning sign.
He should have realized something was wrong long ago.
Chi Zheng let out a bitter laugh of fury. “Gu Ming, huh? I’ll make sure he dies a miserable death!”
Qi Guang stayed silent, but his expression was ugly.
Lu He didn’t need to say anything more.
Both men would throw their full strength into this. They would find Ruan Tang as fast as possible.
That night.
Ruan Tang, after being forced into an endless dress-up game, was so exhausted she fell asleep early.
She hadn’t even changed into pajamas—she was still in a bunny-girl outfit.
Her creamy white skin was exposed to the air, long pale legs curled up, black hair spilling across her fair shoulders.
The image was both sensual and pure.
Gu Ming stared at her for a long moment, mesmerized, before reluctantly helping her change into a comfortable slip dress.
During the process, he nearly lost control, but he restrained himself.
The girl’s perfect, alluring figure was burned into his memory like the most exquisite artwork.
He gently brushed his fingers through her dark hair.
“Tang Tang, you worked hard today. I’ll let you off for now…”
After all, this was only their first day together. There would be so many more days, so many more chances for him to do everything he wanted.
This sweet little soft candy was his alone.
Holding the sleeping girl in his arms, Gu Ming finally fell into a rare, deep sleep.
But when he woke the next morning—she was gone.
Her scent still lingered, but the bed was empty.
In his arms lay only a stuffed bunny doll.
The thought of Ruan Tang sneaking away, leaving only this rabbit in his embrace, made his face twist into something frightening.
On the bedside table lay a note.
Just one short line:
“I’m sorry. Let’s break up.”
Gu Ming’s hand clenched the slip of paper so tightly that his knuckles went white.
If not for the vivid memory of last night, he might have thought it had all been a dream.
But the dream had shattered.
And he was alone again.
With a roar, he slammed his fist into the wall. The crash echoed through the room, and his knuckles split with blood.
“Tang Tang… you lied to me.”
His voice was hoarse. He tore the note into shreds with bloodied fingers, his expression dark and dangerous.
“If you won’t be obedient… then I’ll have no choice but to lock you away. So you’ll never leave me again.”
Outside the door, Ruan Tang, who had only just slipped away, froze at the chilling words.
Her breath caught in her throat. She gathered her skirts and hurried down the stairs, not daring to waste another second.
At the front doors, she pushed—but two guards stood firmly in the way.
They froze when they saw her, eyes widening in shock and awe.
How could a girl be this beautiful?
No wonder their young master had dismissed all the servants yesterday—so no one else would lay eyes on her.
Just one glimpse, and anyone would be overcome with the desire to possess her.
Ruan Tang clutched the door handle, eyes shimmering with unshed tears, looking up pitifully at the guards.
“…I just want to take a walk outside. Can I?”
The guards almost gave in right there.
But then the earpieces at their ears crackled, and their master’s cold voice rang out:
“Guard every exit of the villa. No one is to leave or enter. Especially—”
He paused, voice hoarse and bitter.
“—your young madam.”
The guards exchanged looks, then turned back to Ruan Tang with apologetic expressions.
“Sorry, Madam. The young master gave strict orders. No one can enter or leave, especially you—”
Ruan Tang bit her lip hard, then suddenly shoved past them while they were distracted, bolting outside.
Neither of them had expected such resistance from a girl who looked so soft and obedient. They hesitated a beat too long, and by then, she had already fled into the garden.
Her lace skirt billowed like the wings of a fleeing princess, beautiful and heartbreaking.
The guards gave chase.
Ruan Tang glanced back, panic rising in her chest. She stumbled over her own feet and crashed to the grass.
“Uu…”
She squeezed her eyes shut in terror.
She was going to be caught. Locked away forever.
“Tang Tang!”
Several voices overlapped in unison, calling out to her.
Ruan Tang’s eyes flew open in astonishment.
