- Chapter 89 - Tied in the Dark
It was only after a long while that the man finally released her swollen lips, his thumb stroking them with a rare gentleness.
Ruan Tang collapsed weakly against his chest, her weight barely held up by his arms. Her eyes were damp and shimmering, sultry in their brilliance.
At some point, he had already hung up the phone.
Ruan Tang thought it was finally over.
But the very next second, her wrists were bound behind her with soft fabric, and a strip of black cloth covered her eyes.
“Y-you… what are you going to do…”
She struggled, but couldn’t break free. In her mind, she called out to the system—yet it was as if something had blocked it entirely. No response came.
“Tangtang, I warned you before, didn’t I? Don’t let other men touch you.”
Her long lashes trembled uneasily. With her vision gone, every sound and touch grew sharper, more unbearable.
“If you’re disobedient… you’ll be punished. Do you understand?”
She felt his hand glide over her, and her waist went instantly weak.
“Let me go…”
“How long did he kiss you? Five minutes? Ten?”
Her dazed mind wavered. Was he talking about Chi Cheng? Or Qi Guang?
“No matter. I’ll cleanse you myself.”
With that, his arm tightened around her waist, and he bent down to claim her lips again.
Meanwhile, Chi Cheng had finally squeezed free of the suffocating crowd. The moment he could, he pulled out his phone to call Ruan Tang.
But no matter how many times he dialed, no one picked up.
Had she already gone back to the dorms?
Why hadn’t she waited for him? Why hadn’t she said anything before leaving? Was she upset?
His worry mounted until it felt unbearable. Driving straight to her dorm, he happened to run into her roommate downstairs.
“Have you seen Tangtang?”
“Nope. She hasn’t come back yet. Isn’t she supposed to be on a date with you?”
Chi Cheng’s expression darkened.
Something must have happened.
Frantic, he called her again—and this time, the line connected.
“Tangtang, where are you?!”
On the other end, there was silence. Then, after a long pause, her voice finally came.
It sounded odd, a little unsteady, as if she had been crying. A breathy undertone clung to her words.
“I-I’m still at the venue… Chi Cheng gege…”
The last syllable quivered, like the scratch of a kitten’s paw. Chi Cheng’s heart trembled along with it.
“What’s wrong? Are you feeling sick?”
Ruan Tang was still blindfolded, tears of physical sensitivity spilling from the corners of her eyes, soaking into the fabric.
The man beside her watched, his Adam’s apple bobbing faintly.
He leaned close, his breath brushing against her ear.
“Tangtang, no calling for help. If you do… I’ll punish you even more.”
His low whisper grazed her ear, making her body shiver. She bit down hard on her lip.
“I’m fine, Chi Cheng gege, don’t worry…”
Her voice was uncharacteristically seductive, though Chi Cheng didn’t dwell on it.
“Stay right where you are. I’m coming now—wait obediently for me!”
Chi Cheng pushed his motorcycle to its limit, racing back to the live house in just ten minutes.
Ruan Tang was waiting quietly at the entrance, her head bowed, peach-blossom eyes lowered. She looked soft and obedient.
A boy nearby was about to strike up conversation with her, but before he could finish his greeting, one glare from Chi Cheng sent him fleeing.
“Tangtang, I’m sorry to keep you waiting.”
She lifted her head. Her eyes were faintly red, her lashes damp, her expression carrying a trace of alluring vulnerability.
Chi Cheng froze.
“You’ve been crying?!”
In truth, she hadn’t. The tears had been physiological—her body was simply too sensitive, not something she could control.
And honestly… she hadn’t been afraid of that man in the end.
There had been something strangely familiar about him.
And he hadn’t really bullied her. He hadn’t hurt her. He had only hugged her, nibbled at her a little. Nothing frightening at all.
After so many worlds, she had grown used to such things. This much? It was hardly worth fussing over.
But Chi Cheng grew even more anxious when she didn’t reply.
“Tell me—did someone hurt you? When you didn’t pick up earlier, did something happen? Was it Qi Guang?!”
“It wasn’t me.”
The cold, clipped voice cut in.
A tall, striking blond youth strode toward them, his face grim.
Without hesitation, he shoved Chi Cheng aside, gripped Ruan Tang’s shoulders, and demanded:
“Tangtang, what happened? Was it him again?!”
He still hadn’t forgotten what had happened at the amusement park—that wound in his heart that refused to heal.
Someday, he would make that bastard pay.
Ruan Tang blinked, glancing hesitantly at Chi Cheng.
Should she say it?
She didn’t understand love, but instinct told her—if Chi Cheng found out, he would be hurt.
And she didn’t want that.
Qi Guang read the conflict in her eyes. Bitterness and jealousy churned in his chest.
Had Tangtang already chosen Chi Cheng? Was that why she held her tongue—to spare him worry?
Suppressing the pain in his eyes, he forced a smile.
“All right then. As long as you’re fine.”
Chi Cheng angrily slapped his hands away.
“Who the hell said you could touch her? Get lost!”
Qi Guang didn’t fight back. His gaze was cool, his voice laced with hatred.
“Then protect her properly.”
“Like I need you to tell me! She’s my girl. Of course I’ll protect her!” Chi Cheng snapped.
Qi Guang’s lips curled in a bitter, mocking smile before he turned and left.
Ruan Tang blinked in surprise. He hadn’t told Chi Cheng about the man.
“Don’t look at him! He’s not half as good-looking as me.”
Chi Cheng pinched her cheeks, forcing her gaze back to him. Her face puffed adorably, like a little hamster.
His heart stirred, and he leaned down to kiss her—only to notice a small cut at the corner of her lips.
It was as if someone had bitten her. The mark was tiny, but the placement was far too suggestive.
A sharp pang of jealousy and dread gripped his chest.
“Tangtang, what’s this?”
Startled, she touched her lip.
“I… I accidentally bit it myself…”
Chi Cheng was silent for a long moment.
As if he had already guessed the truth.
Then, suddenly, he crushed his mouth against hers. His kiss was fierce, desperate, as though he meant to devour her whole.
Ruan Tang jolted, remembering the man’s warning. What if he was still nearby?
Her small hands pushed against Chi Cheng’s chest, dodging his lips.
“Don’t… don’t kiss me here…”
Chi Cheng’s chest ached with sharper jealousy and insecurity.
Was she afraid of being seen?
Was she hiding something from him?
Had she fallen for someone else? Regretted agreeing to be with him?
Even a kiss—she wouldn’t allow anymore?
Dark thoughts clouded his heart. He deepened the kiss, clinging to her desperately, as if this way he could keep her forever.
