- Chapter 132 - The Gentlemanly Professor with a Sinister Side (18) The Wrong Girl Got Everything
Su Ci hooked her arm around his neck, mischievously pinching his cheek. Then, while he was distracted, she leaned in and bit down on the pale, moving Adam’s apple of his throat.
The soft warmth, the tingle—it snapped the last thread of self-control in the man’s mind.
Carried on the cool summer night breeze came the girl’s soft murmur:
“Professor Wen, I’m twenty now. Not two.”
Her lifted eyes were clear and radiant, but the words that came out of her mouth were enough to make any man’s blood surge.
“It’s okay now. Whatever we want to do, we can do it. You don’t have to hold back.”
Wen Yuli nearly lost it right then and there under that seemingly innocent look.
“Little one… do you even know what you’re saying?”
He let out a deep, ragged breath, barely restraining the urge to pull her into his arms and kiss her senseless.
“Don’t ever send signals like that to a man again. You should know—men are no good. Especially when it comes to girls they like… their thoughts are filthy.”
Even if he always looked put together on the outside, there had been many sleepless nights when he drifted off thinking only of her.
He placed a gentle, calming kiss on her forehead.
“Husbands are an exception. You have to be married first.”
A girl’s first time was precious, and Wen Yuli couldn’t bear the thought of taking advantage of his little one too soon.
Besides… he’d heard it could be painful.
Even the best precautions couldn’t guarantee complete safety.
Just the thought of her—his little one—possibly having to take a leave from school, vomiting every day, sleepless and moody, because of some unexpected accident…
It made his heart clench tight.
She was still just a kid herself.
How could she handle such a terrifying risk?
Su Ci smoothed the crease between his brows like she hadn’t heard a word of his lecture. Instead, she took control, biting his lip softly and murmuring against him.
“But I want to try.”
“Professor Wen probably doesn’t know this, but every time you stand there in your suit, confidently lecturing, I’m down below thinking—”
“I want to swallow you whole.”
“Hide you away. Keep you as my personal teacher. One who only looks at me. One who keeps praising me for learning so fast and doing so well—until class is over.”
“Class is over?”
It took Wen Yuli a beat to register the implication. His ears—and the skin all the way down his neck—flushed red.
With a helpless sigh, he rubbed the silky back of her head with his palm.
“How is your teacher supposed to give lectures now?”
He wouldn’t be able to look at a podium or a desk the same way again.
Su Ci gripped his tense forearm, her tone serious and sincere.
“Can’t you stop? Once summer term’s over, you can be my full-time husband at home.”
Wen Yuli lowered his eyes in thought for a long moment.
“Then I won’t teach anymore. I’ll tutor you privately. I’ll wrap myself up tight before going outside. I’ll stay home and be your husband. How’s that?”
After all, his lectures at Jiang University were more of a personal interest—and an indulgence in Principal Chen’s enthusiasm. He hadn’t been paid a single cent. In fact, he’d spent quite a bit out of pocket.
So a sudden resignation would be perfectly justified.
And he wasn’t the type to tolerate even the slightest loss—
“But,” he added, “you’ll need to apply for off-campus housing. And you’ll have to promise your husband to come home early every day, report what you ate, who you saw—everything.”
When it came to giving instructions, Wen Yuli could out-nag both Su’s parents combined. But Su Ci didn’t mind—every few lines of his rambling, she’d kiss him once.
Shumin never expected her luck to be this cursed—not even a glass of cold water could go down right without choking her.
After leaving Professor Huang’s office, she immediately ran into her counselor chasing her down to collect unpaid tuition and dorm fees.
She scraped the money together from every corner she could think of. But just as she stepped outside, her parents called.
On the other end of the line, her father exploded.
“You jinx! You walking disaster! What the hell did you do out there this time? Didn’t I tell you our situation is dire right now? To keep your head down?!”
Originally, the Shus could’ve held on for another couple of months. Maybe even gotten lucky and found a backer, pulled off a miraculous comeback.
But all of that—gone in just half a day!
His decades of hard work, all for nothing.
He’d swallowed his pride, begged around for help.
Only to be told:
“Go ask your daughter what she did. Shu Group is finished.”
Shumin’s mind immediately went to Professor Huang.
So what if they had a few words of conflict? Was it worth ruining her entire company over it? That old bastard—did he have no professional ethics left as a teacher?
She was so furious she wanted to storm in and confront him right then and there.
But Professor Huang wasn’t some idle old man. Outside of class time, she didn’t have a chance of getting near him.
Desperate and with nowhere to turn, Shumin suddenly thought of Wen Yuli. A man so meticulous he micromanaged the tiniest things—there was no way he wouldn’t care about a professor bullying students.
And besides, everyone knew he and Professor Huang didn’t get along.
Out of cash after paying her fees, Shumin opted for a shared bike to ride to the Hengguang Group headquarters. But in her rush, she crashed into a pedestrian.
The woman turned out to be an unreasonable shrew who accused her of hitting a two-month-pregnant woman and dragged her to the hospital demanding compensation.
Shumin had no choice but to use the very credit lines she once looked down on—buy-now-pay-later apps and digital tabs.
By the time she was done, it was already late. Since she’d see Wen Yuli in class tomorrow anyway, she limped her way back to the dorm on her injured foot.
To save time, she took a shortcut—only to stumble across Wen Yuli and Su Ci in the corner of the parking lot.
Shumin had never seen Wen Yuli like that—gentle, affectionate, nearly humble in the way he coaxed her.
She’d tried to seduce him before too, hoping for a shortcut.
All she got in return was the coldest response:
“The apple doesn’t fall far from the tree. Go reflect.”
But what made Shumin truly furious wasn’t just Wen Yuli being shameless in his old age.
It was Su Ci.
Of all people, why her?
With Su Ci’s popularity at Jiang University, guys lined up to date her. Why did she have to choose Wen Yuli?
Shumin had approached Wen Yuli out of desperation. She had no other choice.
But Su Ci—when even Professor Huang was willing to help her—still clung to Wen Yuli like that?
It was just plain disgraceful.
Then suddenly, a memory struck her like lightning.
That robotic voice she’d once heard asking if she wanted to escape Wen Yuli… it had claimed to be a “system” that would find someone better suited to replace her…
Could that person have been Su Ci?
Shumin recalled her past investigation into Fusu Industries teetering on the edge of bankruptcy—and now, seeing Su Ci and Wen Yuli’s closeness—everything suddenly made sense.
Back at the dorm, her first move was to find Lin Yan.
“Tomorrow morning, Professor Wen’s class—I’m taking your spot. I need to talk to him. It’s important.”
“???” Lin Yan blinked in confusion.
“But Professor Wen has a great memory. What if he notices I wasn’t there and deducts points? This class is already hard enough to ace…”
Shumin scoffed.
“He’s teaching a lecture hall of over a thousand students. What makes you think he remembers you? You think you’re some legendary beauty?”
“No wonder people talk behind your back,” Lin Yan snapped, finally understanding why Zhao Xinya and Zhizhi had been keeping their distance from Shumin lately.
“Well, I’m not doing it.”
Shumin nearly choked with rage.
When her family still had money, these girls were never this bold with her. They treated her like royalty.
But now?
Since she couldn’t get to Wen Yuli, she’d have to start with Su Ci.
