- Chapter 161 - The Pro Gamer Who’s Madly Obsessed With His Fan (10) The Neighbor Upstairs Is Definitely Watching
After logging out of the game, You Che quickly downloaded the official community app, Summit Base, hoping to find clues that his sister had been duo-queuing with someone else.
But as soon as he logged in, he discovered that she hadn’t enabled data sharing.
Which meant no one could view her match history or game stats through the platform.
Just imagining someone sneaking in ranked games with his sister behind his back made You Che so frustrated he rolled around on the bed. Who knew, maybe she was still online right now, playing duos in stealth mode.
He wasn’t being paranoid—this suspicion came from habit. Before logging off each night, he liked to sneak into her profile while set to “invisible,” taking screenshots and comparing them with previous ones for changes.
Something clicked. He opened his pinned WeChat contact and accessed the money transfer page. There it was—his sister’s full real-name ID showed as [*Ci], and her WeChat name was Qing Hua Ci (“Blue-and-White Porcelain”).
So… what kind of “Ci” was it exactly?
That was hard to guess…
You Che clicked into her Moments feed.
Since WeChat didn’t alert users to profile visitors, he greedily—almost shamelessly—read every single post, every photo, and every shared link, one by one, taking his time.
And every single piece of content, he screenshot and saved into a private photo album.
So far, he’d only liked and commented on her pinned post.
He didn’t want her to think he was some kind of stalker.
Even though… he was basically watching her Moments feed over and over again. But it wasn’t for anything weird—it was to study how potential predators might be lurking. Besides, they were neighbors now.
And neighbors should look out for each other and contribute to a harmonious community. That’s just common courtesy.
Oh, right—neighbors!
At the sudden realization, You Che sprang upright from his bed like a carp leaping out of water. He dashed to the window, yanked open the curtains, and leaned half his body out onto the balcony, peering downward.
There was a soft glow coming from her window.
It was already 10:30 p.m., and she hadn’t gone to bed yet.
What was she doing?
He couldn’t tell, and it was driving him crazy. All he could imagine was her duo-queuing with some guy, chatting over mic, maybe even on video call…
And the most likely guy?
Su Xu.
…
At 11:00 p.m., Su Ci uploaded a few newly written short fanfics and some chibi emoji packs:
“Betting With Che—One Round, One Favor.”
“Single-Combat Play Mode in Close Quarters—Winner Gets to Drive.”
“Asking Che to Use His Pro-Level Hand Speed.”
Su Ci worked freelance in this world. A hardcore homebody with an internet addiction, she rarely left the house other than to play games, watch matches, and write fan content about You Che.
She didn’t gate any chapters or lock them behind paywalls, yet her fanfics on LD still got a fair number of gifts and donations—enough to earn her a few dozen bucks a day.
In the LD platform’s lingo, “refusing tongdan” meant rejecting people who shared the same fan preferences. Su Ci didn’t mind others liking the same idol, and most of You Che’s “dream girls” either muted her account or silently lurked.
So when she saw that a comment dissing her from that girl—Zhuang Jingyi—had gone viral and was being dragged in the comments, Su Ci was genuinely surprised.
How could anyone seriously think You Che and Mo Hen were a couple?
LD was a free platform for hobby-based social interaction. As long as nothing illegal was posted, everyone had the right to share their content.
Su Ci always believed: if you didn’t like something, just scroll past it. But going out of your way to make your presence known in someone else’s personal space? That was just plain rude.
The only person who had the right to question her was You Che himself.
It was getting late, and she didn’t bother wasting time trying to reason with the other girl. Instead, she gave Zhuang Jingyi a parting gift: a complete block-and-delete package.
Her latest posts had already started getting comments:
“Banwa-sama, I won’t allow anyone to disrespect you! Feed me, feed me, I could devour another thirty bowls of your content!”
“Am I the only one wondering if Che really checks all of Banwa’s social media and game accounts daily like a stalker?”
“No doubt! Absolutely no doubt!”
“Ahhh! So in the 1v1 fanfic, who won in the end—Banwa or Che?”
“Banwa might have won, but Che definitely didn’t lose. Either way, it’s a win for Che!”
“Kyaa! The first fic was insane! Che spawn-camped the enemy at their fountain for an hour just to win some ‘rewards’—43 kills in one match!”
“43 times?! Banwa, are you even human?”
“Those APMs though! If I remember right, Che’s actions per minute were over 550. Did he use a massage gun after?”
Su Ci glanced over the comments casually, then exited LD. From the deepest corner of her toolbox folder, she opened a low-key black-and-blue app.
It tracked the behavioral data of a certain someone’s phone.
He had browsed her Moments feed… 47 times.
The GPS? Directly above her. Less than five meters away.
Could he really be lurking in the stairwell?
Had he not come up with a good excuse to visit yet?
Su Ci threw on a coat and stepped out to check. The stairwell lights came on. The stars glittered in the night sky, but the corridor was empty—no tall, handsome boy waiting outside.
If he wasn’t outside, then he must be inside.
She looked at the tightly shut door upstairs and switched on the app’s live surveillance function. She saw that You Che was looping the recording she’d sent him last night—a disclaimer video.
It had been playing for over ten minutes and still hadn’t stopped. Su Ci frowned and opened WeChat to message him:
[Qing Hua Ci]: Still awake?
On the balcony, You Che was enjoying the night breeze, earbuds in, listening to her voice.
The sudden message startled him so badly he almost dropped his phone.
[C-Univ You Che]: I’m asleep!
[C-Univ You Che]: Wait no, I mean—I was just about to sleep! Did you need something, sis? If you do, I can stay up! I’ll come over right now!
[Qing Hua Ci]: Not now. I’ll need help tomorrow though. Planning to go sketch at a nearby park—could you help me carry my easel and paints and stuff?
[C-Univ You Che]: Of course! What time are we heading out? I’ll get ready in advance!
[Qing Hua Ci]: No rush. Get some rest first. I’ll let you know tomorrow when it’s time.
[C-Univ You Che]: Okay! Good night, sis! See you tomorrow! You’re the best!
Upstairs, You Che hugged his phone and grinned like an idiot. He read through their chat over and over, memorizing every line. Eventually, he just screenshotted the whole thing and saved it to cloud storage.
This was a precious memory between him and his sister.
Downstairs, Su Ci plugged her phone in on the nightstand and started getting ready for bed. As usual, she reached under her pillow for her cat plushie…
And pulled out a thick stack of red cash bills.
“Huh?”
This was definitely the spot…
Che Bao was curled up on the cat tower, big blue eyes gleaming mischievously. Its pink paw slapped at a You Che poster on the wall, then it grabbed a ball of yarn and started licking it.
Su Ci’s face flushed red. Che Bao’s imitation was so lifelike it was hard to watch.
“You’re saying he licked that thing?”
Che Bao blinked its clear eyes. “Meow~”
Is licking not allowed? Little kitties didn’t get it. Che Bao liked licking its paws and tail… and also liked being sniffed and cuddled by its owner…
It hugged the yarn ball, leapt onto the bed with feline grace, and lifted both front paws, stuffing the yarn into Su Ci’s pants pocket. Then it pointed at the poster: “Meow!”
Bad guy! He stole my favorite toy!
Su Ci looked dead inside. She buried her burning face in Che Bao’s soft, fluffy belly and rubbed it twice. But the heat on her face only got worse.
Did You Che… know what he’d licked?
