- Chapter 195 - The Creepy Student Council President Who Stalks His Senpai (13) “Now You Belong to Me”
Su Ci couldn’t come up with an answer right away. While she was still processing everything, Chu Junling had already adjusted his mood and was smiling again as he showed her how to activate the SIM card and access the campus database.
“Senpai, for your access level, put ‘President’s Secretary.’”
“Huh? I’m not even…”
…remotely planning on applying for that kind of role.
Mingsong Academy promoted a strong sense of student autonomy, and the student council held even more power than the actual administrative leadership. Both the president and the department heads had the authority to appoint personal secretaries to help manage affairs.
It was a high-paying position. Depending on the preferences of the department heads and the secretary’s performance, the monthly stipend ranged from tens of thousands to hundreds of thousands.
Beyond that, it also came with broad administrative access.
Whether for regular students lured by the money or heirs and heiresses aiming to cozy up to those in power, the role of student council secretary was a fiercely competitive prize.
Chu Junling had only recently taken office, so the secretary position was still vacant. Considering his status and the influence of the Chu family, the application letters alone could probably pile as high as the ceiling.
Of course, Su Ci was tempted by the salary—but she knew better. That kind of capitalist cake wasn’t something a financially struggling transfer student like her could just reach out and grab.
Better to lie low than make herself a target. It would save her a lot of trouble.
Seeing her hesitation, Chu Junling simply sat down beside her and clicked the “President’s Secretary” option for her.
“Not yet? Then now you are.”
“As the President’s Secretary, you’ll have administrative access. It’s just a title—I wouldn’t dream of making you do actual work. And I would never abuse my position to take advantage of you.”
He was sitting so close that his sharply defined jaw lightly rested on her shoulder. He spoke in a breezy tone, but his words had an edge.
“Or… was all that ‘not minding me’ just for show? Deep down, you don’t want to be associated with me at all—not even in name?”
His eyes were sticky, intense, fixed on the pale curve of her swan-like neck. Beneath the delicate line of her jaw, her carotid pulse beat steadily—and somehow, that rhythm hooked into his own.
“Why aren’t you saying anything, Senpai?”
“Is it because I was right?”
His voice tightened, emotions barely held back and growing more intense with each word.
In truth, Su Ci had only paused for a few seconds. But in that short span, it was easy to see the panic bloom on his face.
He launched into a barrage of questions so fast, she barely had a chance to respond. He was overwhelming.
After a brief moment of thought, Su Ci gently reached up and tousled the top of his head, soothing him like a nervous puppy.
“No, that’s not it. I was just surprised you’d offer me something so important without hesitation.”
Family background was only the bare minimum. Even students from upper-middle-class families had to go through a rigorous screening process, and only those with an overall A-grade evaluation could qualify.
“Is that so? I never do anything lightly.”
Senpai was underestimating herself again. Someone born with a fate carefully designed in every detail—how could she think he was being careless?
Choosing her wasn’t impulsive. It was fate.
He claimed it was just a title, but then he pulled out a beautifully crafted, violet-gold brooch from his pocket.
He knelt on one knee on the carpet and personally pinned the badge of office onto her uniform. His expression was reverent and gentle.
“Now no one will dare mess with you.” He smiled softly, a bit of innocent pride slipping through.
“Congratulations on your new position, my dearest Secretary.”
Knock, knock, knock—
Someone rapped on the office door. A second later, the handle turned and someone stepped inside.
“Junling, about the Tong family’s banquet—”
The familiar tone faded mid-sentence and turned awkward.
“Sorry, did I come at a bad time?”
“It’s fine.”
Chu Junling stood up with complete indifference, dusting off the creases on his suit pants before giving a cold glance at Feng Jiming. His eyes held thinly veiled irritation and hostility.
“If you’ve got something to say, say it. And quit staring.”
Feng Jiming quickly withdrew his inquisitive gaze, but that brief glance had already told him everything.
It’s her again. The same outstanding exchange student his mother mentioned every day.
And unless his eyes were playing tricks on him, the badge on her chest wasn’t the one worn by secretaries—it was Chu Junling’s president badge. The designs were similar, but still technically a matched pair. To outsiders, they were hard to distinguish.
Not that it mattered—he had a president badge too.
His right hand slipped casually into his pocket, fingers curling tightly around a small metal object. His voice remained calm.
“I was asked to deliver an invitation.”
But in his mind, he was thinking—
I heard even Nan Muye has his eye on her.
She was such a magnet for trouble. If he’d known earlier, he should’ve hidden her away and asked his mother to hire a private tutor.
Or maybe he should’ve taught her himself.
Sponsoring Su Ci’s admission into Mingsong Academy was probably the worst decision his mother ever made.
How was he supposed to compete with Chu Junling and Nan Muye?
Chu Junling took the invitation without a glance and immediately tossed it onto the coffee table.
“You’ve delivered it. You can leave now.”
He didn’t like the look in Feng Jiming’s eyes.
It was like watching a pet dog in his household start to believe it could get away with coveting something even he didn’t dare touch.
And how did Senpai treat him?
Compared to yesterday, Su Ci was noticeably colder. She only stood up and gave a slight nod as a basic gesture of acknowledgment.
Feng Jiming returned a polite smile. Out of the corner of his eye, he caught the black ribbon twined in her braid—and then noticed the undone top button on Chu Junling’s collar. His expression dimmed.
Using Junling’s tie as a hair ribbon, huh…
Damn, that guy works fast.
Thinking he was being considerate, Feng Jiming gently closed the office door behind him.
But Chu Junling immediately strode over and locked it.
“Alright, Senpai. Where were we?”
Noticing Su Ci staring at the invitation on the table, his brow lifted. For a second, he considered shredding it—but changed his mind.
“Are you interested in going, Senpai? Want to have some fun?”
The birthday banquet of some debutante—just a showcase for dresses, jewelry, social standing… fake smiles and hollow small talk mixed with business networking. Utterly boring.
But one thing did catch Chu Junling’s attention.
“Tong Yuting? No wonder Senior Feng came here himself. It’s his fiancée’s birthday party.” He chuckled darkly.
“He’s such a good guy, huh? So why didn’t he bring you an invitation?”
He was picking a fight on purpose.
A man with a fiancée who still flirted left and right—what right did he have to leave a good impression on Senpai?
Su Ci looked away and casually played with the settings on her new phone as she replied,
“My status isn’t appropriate.”
She wasn’t a close friend or social equal. None of those young masters or ladies had any reason to invite a special-admit exchange student.
Chu Junling realized he’d gone too far. He closely observed her expression and only relaxed once he was sure she didn’t feel embarrassed or self-conscious about it.
“What do you mean? They should be begging for you to attend.”
He loved to kneel or crouch so he could look up at her. His deep amber eyes shimmered with emotion.
“But before they try to snatch you up, let me invite you first. Will you be my date for the banquet? You know how it is—I don’t get close to anyone else.”
Su Ci readily agreed.
“Sure. I’ll go with you.”
…
By the time she left the administration building, it was already 5:30 PM. Su Ci stopped by the cafeteria to grab dinner to go and returned to the girls’ dorm, only to realize she’d forgotten something.
She’d promised to treat Chu Junling to a meal the next time they met.
Her new phone only had his contact saved. She unlocked it and was about to send a message to apologize—when a friend request from an unknown user popped up.
