- Chapter 235 - The Pro Player Who Tricks Newbies in the Infinite Survival Game (8) Stay Away From Her—Or Else
Ling Su shifted positions slightly, subtly wedging himself between the two of them. His tone was slow and mocking.
“Look at you. Sixteen loops in the illusion and you’re still proud of yourself? No wonder you can’t break into the top three. If you suck, then practice more.”
The smile on Li Song’s face faded a little.
“You say that like you’d do better. Please. Forget sixteen loops—if it were one hundred and sixty, I doubt you’d wake up either.”
Typical tough talk from someone not in the thick of it.
Li Song had caught on by the fifth loop.
But how could she pass up such a perfect illusion? A dream where she got to consummate her marriage with her precious Su Su? Who could resist that?
Besides, in real life… she didn’t exactly have the hardware for that kind of thing.
Su Ci lowered her lashes, hiding her expression. She didn’t join the childish back-and-forth between the two.
Who would’ve guessed? She had already regained consciousness by the second loop. She’d just let Li Song play out her little kink for fun.
Ling Su stepped in front of her line of sight.
But he couldn’t block the feelings Li Song had left her with. The heat, the tenderness, the lingering sensations—vivid, overwhelming, again and again.
Time flowed differently in the illusion and in the dungeon.
So Su Ci had no idea Ling Su’s dark mood was the result of more than just jealousy—it was also because over the past hour, he’d been taken on an emotional rollercoaster, over and over again.
He’d finally come to terms with it:
He was not okay.
Not even close.
For someone who’d died young without ever having a relationship—who’d barely just awakened to feelings of love—this was a soul-crushing realization.
Ling Su let out a long sigh, forcing himself to stay composed. “Let’s keep opening coffins. We’re running out of time.”
Li Song had the lowest score, so she went first again. Ling Su pulled Su Ci aside.
“Stay away from her.”
That surprise just now had left him seriously rattled.
And perhaps because of the universal law of bad luck, Li Song opened over a dozen coffins in a row without getting anything good or bad. Her total points reached 360, putting her in second place.
Su Ci was in first, with 450 points.
According to the game rules, even high-ranking players had to open at least one coffin per hour.
Su Ci picked one at random. Thanks to her defensive ability, she felt completely at ease.
Inside the coffin was a bronze mirror.
[Player has received the Gift: “Demon-Revealing Mirror” ×1]
[Gift from a Predecessor: Demon-Revealing Mirror. A sacred artifact blessed by a master, repels evil spirits. Can reveal a Beauty’s true form once. Single-use item.]
Even Su Ci was surprised by her luck.
Killing the Beauty would end the game, but with one Beauty and nine maids or slaves—more being added constantly—finding the real one was like looking for a needle in a haystack.
But with the mirror, that needle could be found.
Now all they needed was an offensive gift, and they could end this dungeon immediately.
“Babe, you’re amazing. Lucky goddess!”
Li Song was even more excited than if she’d gotten it herself. She moved to kiss Su Ci as usual—only to trip when Ling Su stuck out his leg, nearly falling in her high heels.
Su Ci steadied her. “Careful, sis.”
Li Song shot the culprit a glare, then stomped on Ling Su’s foot a few times with her pointy heels.
Unbothered, Ling Su went on opening coffins.
“Don’t celebrate too soon. The rules didn’t specify how big the mirror’s effective range is. It might not show the exact coffin—it might only work within a small chamber.”
Worse yet, it might only show Beauty’s presence in a large tomb room.
A big chamber held ten small rooms. Even if they opened most of the coffins, that still left plenty unaccounted for.
Without a surefire plan, using the mirror recklessly would be a waste. It had to be paired with a gift that could kill.
After the second coffin round, the tomb raiders regrouped in the central chamber to exchange intel.
Last round, due to unfamiliarity with the rules and the sudden tests, most of them ignored the messages on their interface.
This time, everyone’s attention had shifted to gifts and sacrificial items—the former being key to victory for the tomb raiders, the latter being the Beauties’ tools of retaliation.
Zhao Kai and Sasha quietly discussed the rankings.
The interface only showed your current rank, not others’ scores.
As a newbie, Sasha had already reached 195 points in the first two rounds, placing 7th.
Zhao Kai did slightly better—6th place.
Good thing scores weren’t public. If the rest saw how far ahead Ling Su’s trio was, those without hope of winning might have ganged up on them out of spite.
Two tomb raiders had died this round.
Twelve Beauties. Twenty-four tomb raiders.
The later it got, the harder it would be to kill the Beauty and end the game. The Beauties would also gain points more easily—and get bonus points if their side won.
In a shadowy corner, Wei Xinlian stared at her empty inventory, heart full of bitterness.
She had just 52 points—dead last.
Two rounds in, even the maids had gotten 60 points just by moving around, not to mention bonus points.
It wasn’t that she didn’t want to open more coffins—her luck just sucked. After opening a sacrificial item the first time, she was too scared to open more and used her perception talent.
Unfortunately, she sensed filth inside the coffins.
So she hesitated all the way through, cautiously choosing and only managing to open four coffins.
In her past life at this point, Ling Su had given her all the gifts he found. She had skyrocketed to first place.
But this time, it was Su Ci and Li Song by his side.
They couldn’t possibly rank high… could they?
No way. Being a tomb raider was much harder than being a maid, and he was dragging two burdens around—how could he possibly rack up points fast?
Just thinking about Ling Su holding both of those stunning beauties made Wei Xinlian uncomfortable. That damn pervert—he didn’t deserve them!
The candlelight flickered, shadows deepening.
Wei Xinlian, leveraging her past experience, stepped up to rally the tomb raiders.
“Who has the Demon-Revealing Mirror and the Gold-Seeking Talisman? I know the game rules. If you get captured while holding a gift, it’ll go back into a coffin.”
“Also, the mirror only works in a small chamber—it can’t locate the specific coffin. Don’t use it recklessly.”
This wasn’t in the broadcast. Whether new or veteran, everyone was taken in by her bluff.
Pleased, Wei Xinlian nodded and continued, “My suggestion is that no matter who gets a gift, hand it over to me for centralized management. That way, we maximize our chances of winning.”
The players looked at each other, unsure. It didn’t sound right, but no one objected.
After all, none of them had any gifts.
When your own interests aren’t on the line, most people stay quiet.
And the unspoken truth was: if someone did bring out a gift, others could steal it. Who didn’t want a life-saving item?
Both gifts were in Su Ci’s possession.
But she said nothing, playing dumb. No matter what the female lead planned, she only trusted herself and Ling Su. She would win.
In the unnoticed shadows, Ling Su’s fingertips brushed against the back of Su Ci’s hand.
Through the puppet link, it felt just like real touch—no filter, no barrier.
Her skin was smooth, like warm jade.
Ling Su even found his half-finger gloves annoying. He wanted to press his whole palm against her, to really feel her.
Who knew how long Li Song had spent feeling her up in that illusion?
He was lost in thought when a warm, slippery sensation slid away from his fingers. The anti-slip strap on her wrist made a faint tearing sound as a few fingers slipped into his palm.
Ling Su froze, stiff as a board.
Like a thief caught red-handed, he instinctively glanced at Li Song. She was hanging off Su Ci’s other arm, totally oblivious to their little game.
Because he wore gloves all year, Ling Su’s palms were especially sensitive.
And Su Ci was teasing him on purpose—scratching, pinching.
His Adam’s apple bobbed hard.
As for whatever passionate speech Wei Xinlian was giving in the background, Ling Su didn’t catch a word of it. He didn’t care.
Until two tomb raiders, goaded by Wei Xinlian, mustered the courage to step up to him.
“Li-Ling Su, do you have the gifts? This dungeon’s about teamwork. Maybe you could take them out and we can all figure out how to use them together?”
