- Chapter 236 - The Pro Player Who Tricks Newbies in the Infinite Survival Game (9) - Three Into a Tomb, One Must Die
The other players looked on hopefully—no one stepped in to help, but no one stopped them either.
Out of 36 players, only 9 could survive.
At a moment when life and death were on the line, it was easy to be consumed by desperation. If they couldn’t rack up enough points, they were dead anyway. Who cared about offending that psycho Ling Su?
Especially the lower-ranking tomb raiders—many of them were already calculating how to kill for points.
The rules didn’t say they couldn’t, right?
Faced with the two players confronting him, Ling Su simply furrowed his brow. His mind was clearly elsewhere, focused on the warmth in his palm. He answered lazily, “Get lost.”
The two, mistaking his tone for leniency, figured the rumors about him being some bloodthirsty devil were exaggerated. Emboldened, they turned their attention to Su Ci and Li Song.
“So it’s on one of you bitches, huh? Useless little things. You’ve got it and don’t even know how to use it. Be smart and hand it over!”
“Aaaaahhh!!!”
Before their words had even faded, two blood-curdling screams tore through the air.
Blood dripped steadily from Ling Su’s snakebone whip.
The two tomb raiders lay on the ground, gaping holes in their chests, blood gushing and quickly soaking into the stone floor.
“Watch your mouths. Didn’t your mothers teach you to respect women? If you’re going to be this pathetic dead, what’s the point of letting you live?”
His beautiful eyes, when looking down from above, were cold and venomous like a snake’s. The sheer malice in his gaze made everyone’s skin crawl.
Though seriously injured, the two veteran players still had items and points to keep them barely alive. They struggled to get up.
“I… I’m sorry… I shouldn’t have… please… spare me…”
“Shut up. Go apologize to your mother.”
Ling Su grabbed one in each hand, eyes sweeping over the crowd with icy disdain. The players instinctively backed away, making room for him.
Trusting his faint intuition, he selected a coffin and slammed their heads into it, lips curling into a bloodthirsty grin.
“You want points that bad? I’ll help you out.”
The coffin lid slammed open.
Rotting, skeletal hands with long claws shot out, reeking of death and cold. They dragged the nearly-dead tomb raiders inside.
[Tomb Raiders Zhong Feipeng and Lü Tai have disturbed a handmaiden. They have been captured and turned into slaves.]
Inside the coffin, a handmaiden who’d been eavesdropping without moving a muscle was suddenly granted 200 points. Her ranking shot to seventh place—she was too stunned to react.
She hadn’t even wanted this spot. The central chamber was a dead zone—who could’ve guessed she’d score points by doing nothing?
Who said that psycho Ling Su was a bad guy? She owed him big-time!
Everything had happened so fast, no one had time to intervene—not that anyone dared. They could only watch as the beauty faction grew even stronger.
Wei Xinlian was shaking with rage and fear.
“Ling Su! How could you be so selfish?! It’s bad enough you won’t use the key items to help us clear the game, but now you’re boosting the enemy team’s power?!”
Ling Su hadn’t planned on dealing with her.
He had just said something about respecting women. Out of basic courtesy, he’d refrained from going after her earlier. After all, scaring off the newbie player—meaning Su Ci—would be counterproductive.
“Almost forgot about you, dumbass.”
“W-What are you doing?!” Wei Xinlian shrieked. “I’m the only one who knows the rules! If you kill me, none of you will make it out!”
Ling Su’s snakebone whip glinted red under the flickering candlelight. His steps were slow, deliberate. One half of his face vanished into the shadows, like a death god closing in.
Just then, a warm hand closed around his wrist.
Ling Su froze.
He looked back and tried his best to soften his fierce expression.
“What? Scared?”
His Adam’s apple bobbed nervously—the gulp echoed in the silent tomb.
For the first time, he doubted himself.
Had he gone too far?
After so long living in these brutal survival games, he’d lost touch with morality and the law.
To a newcomer like her, he must seem terrifying… and selfish too, right?
Su Ci shook her head. From her pocket, she pulled out a handkerchief and gently wiped the blood off his cheek.
Standing in front of Ling Su, she was unnaturally calm—almost disturbingly indifferent to life and death.
“The gift item is with me.”
Her voice echoed through the tomb, firm and unflinching. The crowd immediately grew feverish, but no one dared approach—not with Ling Su standing behind her. Their expressions twisted with restrained greed.
“You all know very well—handing over the item won’t fix anything. The number of survivors won’t jump from nine to ten. This so-called ‘teamwork’ is a lie.”
Her words cut through the air like a knife, exposing the truth everyone wanted to ignore. Wei Xinlian’s face flushed and paled in quick succession.
“You’re just leeching off others and still have the nerve to lecture us?! I’m just trying to help our faction win and increase our chances of clearing the game!”
Other players chimed in.
“Yeah! The beauty faction is united, and we’re busy fighting each other. We’re just making it easier for them!”
Su Ci ignored the noise. Her eyes calmly locked onto Wei Xinlian.
“Aren’t the beauties players too? If you’re really that kind, how can you stand watching more of them die just so we can have more winners on our side?”
“I… I…” Wei Xinlian stammered.
“If you really want to give someone else a chance, give up your own slot. Don’t stir people up to steal from others—that’s just pretending to be noble.”
Her gaze swept across the crowd, sharp and cold.
“I have the items. Anyone who wants them is welcome to try and take them. I’ll be waiting.”
“Let’s go.”
Su Ci linked arms with Ling Su and Li Song and walked straight out of the chaotic central chamber.
The players all knew the truth: in this dungeon, “teamwork” was a joke.
Along the way, Ling Su quietly wiped down his bloodied whip. As he did, a faint smile tugged at his lips.
“Why didn’t you let me kill her?”
This was the first time anyone had chosen to stand on his side.
(He conveniently ignored the fact that Li Song was holding Su Ci’s other arm.)
Su Ci sighed, still disapproving of Ling Su’s “win by violence” methods.
“That makes 14 people in the beauty faction. If you keep feeding them points, you’re only increasing your own risk. It’s not smart.”
Ling Su smirked. “You care about me?”
“…I care about myself.”
“Then why don’t you care about her?”
Li Song, who caught a stray bullet: “…?”
Bang—
Just as the three entered a chamber filled with gold and silver jewelry, the door slammed shut on its own.
[A beauty has used the item “Lover’s Lock.” Unlucky tomb raiders, please stay here for three whole time cycles—let’s see how your feelings grow~]
There were only eight coffins in this room.
Most players would open one coffin and immediately move to another chamber. Except for the central tomb, which had more than a dozen, the smaller ones had no more than eight.
Three people locked in for three time cycles meant they’d need to open at least nine coffins. Even if none of them contained anything dangerous, one of them would still die—no way around it.
They’d considered splitting up, but once players passed the “team bond” challenge, they were linked together. They couldn’t open coffins unless the whole team was present.
For a beauty to use such a powerful item, this room had to contain something dangerous—enough to kill two or more tomb raiders at once.
Su Ci still had the Gold-Seeking Talisman, which could block one attack. But time reversal was useless here—it couldn’t magically create another coffin.
During the first cycle, Su Ci picked a coffin that gave off a relatively safe feeling. Nervously, she pushed the lid open.
Ling Su and Li Song stood on either side of her.
They looked calm on the surface.
But deep down, both were prepared—if something deadly jumped out, they’d die with her.
As the contents of the coffin came into view, all three of them widened their eyes, stunned.
