- Chapter 30 - The Mysterious BOSS Who Keeps the New Player Captive (9)
The livestream viewers were collectively speechless:
“……”
Was this how the final roaming BOSS’s mimicry was supposed to be used?
What about all the times they got played by a BOSS disguised as a loved one, friend, or teammate? Were they just unlucky suckers who deserved it?
Then again, to be fair, this BOSS was the supreme deity of the entire instance—there was nothing he couldn’t do, including reading a creature’s consciousness.
So everyone was now intensely curious: what kind of guy was the fairy goddess’s “ideal type”? He must be otherworldly-level handsome, right?
And then they watched as the pitch-black ooze wriggled and shifted, gathering sparkling snowflakes around it like some kind of magical transformation sequence.
But when the snowflakes finally faded, the ooze… was still just ooze. Two round black eyes blinked up in confusion—mirroring the exact same expression on the viewers’ faces.
Su Ci gently picked up one of Rongxue’s little tentacles, brought it to her lips, and kissed it. Her warm gaze was full of unwavering tenderness and resolve.
“I love Rongxue just the way he is. No matter what form you take, I’ll always love my precious little Rongxue.”
The coalball’s entire body visibly flushed red.
Tiny tentacles sprouted all over him, making him look like a soft pink hedgehog—or maybe a spiky sea urchin. Either way, he was utterly adorable.
“Wife, wife, wife… Rongxue loves Wife the most! Only Wife!”
Plop—
Overexcited, the pink sea urchin bounced up and down until it flopped right onto Su Ci’s face. Soft tentacles patted her cheeks, lips, brows, and nose, nonstop.
Rongxue was secretly memorizing her facial structure.
But Su Ci had no idea. She just thought he was being clingy and jealous again. So she decided to kiss every little tentacle one by one—no favoritism allowed.
(Rongxue: ⸝⸝>ᴗ(>ᴗ<⸝⸝)
The little spiky puffball was dazed from all the kisses. His tentacles kept multiplying until he turned into a full-on, bumpy waxberry-looking ball.
That segment barely made it halfway through the broadcast before Su Ci’s livestream suddenly blacked out—and didn’t turn back on for the rest of the night.
But obviously, every viewer knew exactly what was happening next.
“All those kisses from the fairy goddess! Aaaaaaahhh! And to a literal dead blob who’s not even human! How is that fair?!”
Late into the night, Rongxue finally faded from crimson to soft pink. He wriggled out from under the blanket, casually flung it onto a nearby chair with a flick of his tentacle.
Then he slowly stretched his body out and cocooned Su Ci inside—transforming into a warm and lightweight sleeping bag just for her.
By dawn, snow was still falling steadily outside. The overcast sky glowed bright from the reflection off the silver-white ground.
Su Ci woke up to find herself still half-wrapped in Rongxue, the other half of him resting quietly in front of her, black eyes wide open—who knows how long he’d been watching her sleep.
Rongxue had gained a physical form.
His face was more pure than the falling snow. White hair draped softly past his ears, with a clumsy little braid tugged to one side—likely his own handiwork.
Frost clung lightly to his long, curled lashes. A small, seductive red mole bloomed under his right eye. His nose and lips were drawn in clean, elegant lines.
He looked like a gender-flipped version of Su Ci—features almost identical, yet marked by subtle differences that made him his own person.
Some little details had shifted: Su Ci’s tear mole was on the left; Rongxue’s was on the right. His eyebrows and eyes were more angular, sharper.
The viewers, who’d been camped out all night waiting for the stream to return, jolted awake when it finally came back online—only to be struck speechless again.
“BOSS, this is shameless! How dare you seduce the fairy goddess using her own face?! We’re gonna die of rage!!”
Su Ci reached up to brush the crooked braid away from Rongxue’s face—but he caught her wrist and pressed kiss after kiss onto it.
“Wife, you’re awake? Do I… do I look okay?”
He was actually nervous. He’d mimicked her face without permission, just so he could have a human form like hers—something he could use to be even closer to her.
But he didn’t want to look like anyone else while being close to her.
Her reply was a tender kiss to the center of his brow.
“Of course. Rongxue has always been beautiful and handsome,” she said gently, again and again. “I love you in every form, and only you.”
The newly-formed boy’s whole body quivered with excitement.
His pale skin turned a flushed pink again. It took every ounce of self-control not to let those mischievous tentacles sneak out and stir up trouble.
There was something strange about this form. When he kissed his wife, it made him want to… do other things.
And every time that happened, his wife wouldn’t stop him. She’d even grab those hidden tentacles and guide them down to her waist.
Naturally, Su Ci’s stream began glitching—flickering between working and garbled code. Even during the rare moments it stayed online, her face was nowhere to be seen.
Instead, viewers got jump-scare glimpses of the red-dressed ghost suddenly popping into frame, the twin-tailed girl hanging from the ceiling, the mangled “scumbag” crawling out from under an SUV…
Eventually, even the final roaming BOSS vanished from the camera.
Rongxue had simply realized: when he’d allowed the stream, it was to show off his beloved and flaunt their love.
But now he hated the idea that others could see her, maybe even lust after her. Just the thought was intolerable.
No more. No one gets to see. He wouldn’t even show his face—he refused to let anyone look at the woman who resembled him so closely.
Yet despite that, viewership didn’t drop. Fans just grabbed magnifying glasses and obsessively searched every scrap of footage for signs of their goddess.
【Oh my god, look at the reflection on the glass! My divine queen is brushing the red ghost’s hair!】
【Hehehe, the twin-tailed girl’s homework got graded by the goddess! Look at those gorgeous notes! I love her even more now!】
【Bad news—I swear I saw her kissing the roaming BOSS in the blood puddle’s reflection.】
【You’re hallucinating. There’s no blood and no kiss. She’s clearly MY wife! I’m not even gay—just a pure-hearted teen who fell for the one woman I’d die to protect!】
Meanwhile, Xu Siwei stood at the hotel entrance. A chill wind blew through her soaked shirt, cold sweat clinging to her back.
03:46:52.
She was officially overtime. Her lodging mission had failed.
In her past life, she had the monster’s protection. Even when she overstayed, she was never punished.
But every time she failed a mission, the monster would shudder and convulse like it was in pain. Could a copy-world creature even feel pain?
Obviously fake—just another act to trick her sympathy.
Damn it. Nearly four hours had passed. What the hell was that idiot Qin Jin doing? Why hadn’t she ordered the monster to come rescue her?
Could it be the monster had seen through Qin Jin’s disguise?
Refused to be ordered around?
Well, that made sense. Qin Jin wasn’t her, after all. Even with the same face, their personalities were worlds apart. That monster was powerful—he’d definitely recognize the difference.
And the more she thought about it, the more Xu Siwei felt a twisted sense of joy.
Because she was irreplaceable to that monster. She was special.
Even the things she didn’t want—she wouldn’t let Qin Jin have them so easily.
Of course, all of this assumed Qin Jin had betrayed her, was trying to hoard the monster for herself, and had refused to send help.
Xu Siwei, rattled by fear, didn’t even notice how absurdly contradictory her logic had become.
Soon, a hotel cleaner appeared, pushing a mop—and caught sight of her hiding behind a potted plant.
Xu Siwei squinted. That wasn’t a mop. It was a woman’s head, long hair trailing. As the cleaner “mopped,” blood smeared across the floor in thick streaks.
The stench of iron filled the air. Xu Siwei gagged but held it back, ready to demand answers—until the cleaner turned and smiled, baring a row of fangs, and dragged the head toward her feet.
Repulsed, Xu Siwei instinctively lashed out—just like she used to in her previous life, relying on the monster’s backing.
“Get lost, you disgusting thing! Touching me with those filthy hands—look what you did to my shoes and pants! Who’s your manager?! I’m filing a complaint!”
