- Chapter 9 - The Young Master Who Tried to Bribe His Tutor (9)
Qi Du had an incredibly vivid dream.
In the dream, he did all sorts of inappropriate things to little Miss Su.
Even after waking up, he sat there dazed, hugging his blanket as if trying to recall the feeling of her touch.
The bed and pillow were a complete mess—he wasn’t sure if someone had really been there or if he’d just thrashed around on his own.
He sat in a daze for a long while before realizing the agreed-upon tutoring time had already passed.
So… Miss Su had only visited him in a dream. She must’ve figured out all the dark and filthy thoughts he’d had and decided never to see him again.
She didn’t want him anymore.
She was probably spending time with her boyfriend now.
They’d finish class and walk down the shaded campus path arm-in-arm, then go to a restaurant with just the right romantic vibe for a date, and finally kiss goodbye under the evening glow.
His head throbbed. He couldn’t keep thinking about it.
Why had he dropped out?
Why hadn’t he turned himself into a well-rounded student?
Why couldn’t he be Su-laoshi’s boyfriend?
Qi Du threw off his blanket and climbed out of bed. In his haste, he put his slippers on the wrong feet. Ignoring the dizziness, he stumbled toward the second-floor study.
He needed to study.
Yes, studying—practice problems, online courses. He had to get into Jing University. There was still one year left. Miss Su, please wait for me.
As soon as he pushed open the study door, Qi Du’s mind went blank. It was as if he’d been hit with a spell. His body froze—only his heart thumped wildly.
Under the warm, gentle lighting, the girl with long, loose hair was sitting at his desk, flipping through a thick blue book.
She heard the sound and turned her head slightly, twirling a pen between her fingers, smiling at him with eyes full of something soft and lingering.
It was like time had frozen—like she’d been there, waiting for him all along.
Qi Du rubbed his eyes in disbelief.
He couldn’t tell whether he’d returned from a dream into reality, or stepped from one dream into another.
Or maybe this was a dream within a dream.
A gentle voice called to him:
“A-Du, you’re awake? Why are you standing in the doorway? Come here, let me feel if your fever’s gone.”
Qi Du moved toward her like a wind-up doll, every step stiff and mechanical.
“Su… Su-laoshi, why are you still here? It’s so late, aren’t you supposed to be at school? Won’t your boyfriend be worried?”
After saying that, he knelt beside her, pressing his forehead into her palm.
“I didn’t mean to drive you away. I’m so happy you stayed, really. I’m just afraid your boyfriend might misunderstand.”
Su Ci was almost amused to death by this little brat.
Just earlier he’d been holding her on the bed—kissing and biting, refusing to let her leave—and now he was acting all polite and thoughtful like some little gentleman.
She deliberately teased him:
“If I weren’t here, my boyfriend would be the one worrying. He gets super jealous, you know—might even cry into his blanket.”
“Then he’s really childish. Teacher, I would never…”
“Yes, yes, you wouldn’t. You just want to lock your teacher up, wrap her up tight, and only teach one student, right?”
The boy’s pale cheeks turned crimson in an instant, the color spreading all the way to his ears and neck. His dark eyes flashed with awkward embarrassment.
“I’m sorry, Su-laoshi. I was delirious from the fever… Please don’t be mad.”
It wasn’t like he’d blacked out from drinking—he just had a fever. So he clearly remembered everything he did in that “dream.”
His eyes cautiously traced the girl’s slender arm upward.
Su Ci had already changed out of the off-shoulder top from earlier. Now she wore a plain white cotton T-shirt.
Qi Du’s muddled head buzzed like a beehive, and then—boom—it exploded.
His face turned so red it looked like it could drip blood.
That was his shirt.
The soft, lightweight fabric hugged the girl’s shapely figure. It was so oversized that the hem had to be tucked into her waistband, emphasizing her slim waist.
Su Ci didn’t seem to notice his burning stare. She calmly put away the textbook and pencil case.
“You were feverish and confused? Well, in that case, what I promised earlier doesn’t count. I’m heading off now to soothe my boyfriend—see you tomorrow.”
“No!”
Qi Du jumped up and blocked her, lips pale from being bitten, breathing hard. His eyes were rimmed red with a hint of moisture.
“Tell me, A-Du, why not?”
The boy turned his head aside, lashes trembling.
In a low mutter, he said:
“Because we… we already did that stuff. Of course you can’t go comfort someone else. Teacher is mine—only mine.”
His long, slender fingers clenched tightly around the hem of her shirt, as if clutching the most vital evidence, his grip tightening and tightening again.
Looking at his embarrassed, aggrieved expression, Su Ci just wanted to tease him harder.
“‘That stuff’? Classmate Qi, are you referring to how you drooled all over my shirt in your sleep?”
Qi Du, now flustered, immediately covered her mouth.
“Stop—please don’t say another word, laoshi.”
It wasn’t drool.
Su Ci insisted on teasing him anyway. Her crescent-shaped eyes gleamed mischievously, and her muffled voice came from behind his palm.
“Classmate Qi, when you had a fever, your mouth was really hot… but not as hard as now.”
…
Back in the dorm, An Kefan received a tutoring payment transfer from Xu Tao’s mom—250 yuan.
Her rate was 150 an hour, and they’d done two hours. It should’ve been 300.
She immediately messaged to question it.
Xu Tao’s mom replied that she’d eaten over a kilo of lychees and deducted the fruit cost from her pay.
An Kefan trembled with rage.
She’d never met such a stingy parent! Wasn’t it the mom who told her to eat? If she’d known they’d charge her, she wouldn’t have touched such cheap, low-grade fruit!
Just as she was about to snap back, Xu Tao’s message popped up with a 52 yuan transfer:
[Miss An, I’m covering the rest with my allowance. My mom’s just like that—stingy. Don’t take it personally. Want to log on and play a game together?]
There was even a meme of someone logging into a game.
An Kefan decided to let it go. No point bickering with miserly people—it just left her reeking of pettiness.
She accepted the transfer and borrowed a “King of Glory” account from her gamer roommate.
In her last life, she’d learned how skilled Qi Du was at gaming. When her roommate needed teammates for a five-stack, she invited him along.
Who knew, after a few days of gaming and receiving a few skins, Qi Du shamelessly wanted to lock her down as a couple.
She was going to refuse, but her roommates kept fawning over her for “landing such a strong player,” so she begrudgingly accepted the couple request.
It was just a game relationship—not real. She only saw Qi Du as a classmate.
But in this timeline, she hadn’t even touched the game before—not even registered an account.
Her roommate blinked in surprise:
“Kefan plays games? Never seen you touch one before.”
It was Friday. Challenge matches gave bonus ranking points. Her roommate was planning to grind for a national badge.
Still, when Kefan asked, she handed over the account without hesitation:
“You can play unranked, but don’t drop too many stars in ranked. I just maxed out my performance bonus.”
A trace of impatience flashed in An Kefan’s eyes.
So what if she had 50 Glory Stars? Last time, this roommate begged her for a carry—wasn’t acting so stingy back then.
She added Xu Tao as a friend, pulled him into the team room, and queued directly for a ranked match.
Since she’d promised to help him rank up, she picked her strongest hero—Yao.
The four other teammates, aside from Xu Tao, all started spamming question marks.
[You picked Yao with a marksman? Throwing on purpose?]
[There’s already a support, why are you locking her?]
[Definitely trolling, rank griefer.]
Xu Tao hadn’t expected that either. Still, An Kefan was pretty. Even if she’d eaten his lychees and tossed the bayberries, he still liked her.
[It’s okay, Miss An, just follow me. I’m a pro with this hero. I’ll carry us to victory!]
