“Mom, how did you find out I quit my job?”

Lin Mengting deliberately paused and furrowed her brow, “I specifically told Qin Mei and Qin Dong to keep it from you so you wouldn’t worry. I can’t stand people who say one thing to your face and another behind your back!”

“Why does it matter who told me!”

Yufeng Qing, feeling relieved that Lin Mengting seemed to be “more mature and understanding,” almost choked on her tea. She snapped, “Just tell me if it’s true!”

Lin Mengting ground her teeth, once again hating herself for being so naïve in the past, failing to see through Qin Mei and Qin Dong’s “wolfish ambitions” and instead paving the way for them in front of her parents and family.

Now, she had to face the consequences of her own actions, even if it meant making mistakes along the way.

“Mom, here’s what happened.” Lin Mengting didn’t answer directly but recounted the events of her first day after being reborn in detail.

She made sure to emphasize the threats and warnings from Qin Mei and Qin Dong, adding her own interpretations and judgments, ensuring that Yufeng Qing would see the true nature of these siblings.

The other end of the line fell silent.

After a long pause, Yufeng Qing finally spoke, her voice trembling with confusion and shock, “Tingting, didn’t you always like Qin Dong?”

“Who said that?!” This time, Lin Mengting reacted like a cat whose tail had been stepped on, jumping up and bristling with anger.

“He’s all brawn, always squinting his eyes, claiming to be 22 when he’s probably over 62! He constantly brags about being a bank manager, strutting around with his big belly, acting superior to everyone. These vivid and exaggerated remarks made Yufeng Qing’s mouth twitch in disbelief. She could hardly believe that this sharp-tongued girl was the usually introverted Lin Mengting.

“Mom, even if I’m not a great beauty, I’m at least a charming young lady. I might not have world-class talent, but I do have a few hobbies that people admire…”

Lin Mengting’s words flowed out in a series of self-praises.

“Do you really think someone like me would be interested in someone like Qin Dong? What a joke!” she emphasized once more, feeling a wave of regret for not having called her parents immediately after being reborn.
