Rebirth: Daily Face Slaps - Chapter 229
“Awoo…”
Â
The wolf-like howl echoed in Lin Mengting’s ears.
Â
Unfortunately for Sun Weiqi, this display didn’t evoke any sympathy or pity from her. Instead, Lin Mengting unhesitatingly left ten marks on his body.
Â
“I was actually thinking of putting one on your neck,” Lin Mengting said, rubbing her own neck and smiling at Sun Weiqi. Seeing his expression change, she slowly added, “But I have a kind heart and considered your status as a soldier, so I chose another place.”
Â
“Ten marks for one. You got a good deal.”
Â
“Tingting, that’s not how you calculate it,” Sun Weiqi replied with a pained expression, though inside he was overjoyed.
Â
He knew that Lin Mengting liked, no, loved him! Otherwise, why would she leave marks on him to openly declare that he belonged to her?
Â
“So how should it be calculated?” Lin Mengting asked, glaring at him. “Should I leave nine more marks on you?”
Â
Sun Weiqi momentarily transformed into a werewolf, his eyes glowing green as he stared at Lin Mengting, ready to pounce if she agreed.
Â
“In your dreams!” Lin Mengting poked Sun Weiqi’s chest. “Trying to take advantage of me, huh!”
Â
“I’ll let you take advantage of me,” Sun Weiqi quickly responded, displaying a willingness to let her do whatever she wanted to him.
Â
“I think you haven’t woken up yet,” Lin Mengting said, counting on her fingers, “Why don’t you go back to your room and sleep some more?”
Â
“Tingting, I have to leave after lunch,” Sun Weiqi sighed, employing his usual strategy of changing the subject.
Â
As expected, Lin Mengting immediately stopped her teasing.
Â
“This time, I’ll let you off.”
Â
Still feeling slightly dissatisfied, Lin Mengting slowly threatened, “Next time, you’ll be sleeping on the street!”
Â
With that said, what else could Sun Weiqi do but nod in agreement?
Â
…
Â
After a lively lunch, it was time for Sun Weiqi to leave.
Â
“Tingting, these…” He looked at the two large boxes stacked taller than him and swallowed hard. “There’s too much. I can’t carry all this by myself.”
Â
“Who are you fooling?” Lin Mengting crossed her arms, seeing through his lie. “Don’t think I don’t know you drove here yesterday.”
Â
The idea that he had detoured to S City just to see her during a mission was full of holes. Sun Weiqi, a man loyal to his core, wouldn’t do something so reckless.
Â
“You found out?” Sun Weiqi scratched his head, sheepishly admitting, “I didn’t mean to.”
Â
“So, you did it on purpose?” Lin Mengting raised an eyebrow, stepping closer to him and poking his chest. “Sun Weiqi, I need to emphasize one thing. We must be completely honest with each other. Otherwise, we’ll go our separate ways.”
Â
“Really, Tingting, it’s not my fault,” Sun Weiqi protested, feeling his integrity questioned. He quickly grabbed her wandering hand, taking deep breaths to calm the emotions her casual touch stirred in him.
Â
“Last night, before I went to sleep, I got a call from the team. I learned that the follow-up to this mission was handed over to another department, so we’re no longer handling it…”
Â
Otherwise, he would have left quietly before Lin Mengting woke up, not spent the morning cooking a feast to feed her.
Â
“Really?” Lin Mengting had suspected this but still circled Sun Weiqi a few times until he looked dizzy, with spirals appearing in his eyes, before she finally stopped. “Wait a bit. I’ll go pack some more things.”
Â
Sun Weiqi reached out but couldn’t grab her arm, watching helplessly as she flitted around the room, gathering more items from every corner and cabinet. The confusion on his face grew.
Â
He had always known his girlfriend loved shopping but didn’t realize she had such a penchant for hoarding.
Â
To be honest, Sun Weiqi didn’t mind. He even thought it was good for her to indulge in spending. After all, what was the point of his hard-earned money if not to make her happy?
Â
“Tingting, when did you buy all this?” He held back his true feelings and helped her pack, saying, “Next time you go shopping, take me with you to carry things.”
Â
Lin Mengting raised an eyebrow. She had been waiting for him to ask that.
Â
“Do you think I’m wasteful and hard to support?”
Â
“Not at all!” Sun Weiqi, who had never experienced financial struggles, shook his head sincerely. “Buying all this didn’t even cost twenty thousand. How is that wasteful?”
Â
Coming from a wealthy background, he knew girls in their social circle could easily spend five or six thousand on a single outfit or piece of jewelry for one event, and never wear it again. Compared to that, Lin Mengting’s shopping habits were quite modest.
Â
To him, spending money on clothes and accessories for one-time use seemed wasteful. It was better to spend on good food and health, which were true wealth.
