Mixed feelings, on one hand I want to become someone who can live independently on the other hand, it’s nice to have someone take care of you but I personally prefer something that is mutually benefecial or ensures that we’re equals. Suppose she has a kink for the whole master-servant stick, I’ll play along but will always see her as an equal.
That being said, where good old Christians like Amal as well or did the author pick up more of the whole Japanese servitude aspect instead? Amal here kind of reminds me of that the protagonist in “My Happy Marriage” which follows that aspect. Nowadays you’d probably pull out some studies and talk about the oppression of women or something but for most of them at that time it was normalcy and that way of thinking, “my sole existence is to serve my husband” is not that far fetched but idk.
