Chapter 242: News

Asna had always envied the children who could attend school. She had never even set foot in an academy.

While her peers were studying under the care of their parents, she was already struggling to make a living.

So, everything around her now felt wonderful and relaxing, though she couldn’t help but feel a tinge of envy toward these students.

Helag noticed Asna’s expression and gently patted her head with a smile.

Asna looked up at Helag, smiled shyly, and held his hand even tighter.

Helag pulled out his communication stone to check his messages.

The first one was from Lilian, who had left several messages.

“Lilian has already gone to the Land of Dawn… even faster than me.”

Helag realized that Lilian had already left the Barrens. He had hoped to catch up with her.

Lilian had gone to the Augustus Academy in the Land of Dawn, which was the true Augustus Academy, the one behind the academy in the Barrens.

Since the Land of Dawn and the Barrens were separated, it was no longer possible to use the magical network for communication.

However, Lilian had left another communication stone number, which was her new contact in the Land of Dawn.

Helag memorized the number and moved on to his other messages.

Next was a flood of messages from Bessie.

It seemed Bessie had treated Helag like a diary, sending him hundreds of messages!

Most of the messages were just Bessie sharing her daily life.

Even though Bessie knew Helag couldn’t reply, she had continued sending messages.

Helag couldn’t read through all of them at once, so he decided to go through them later.

She had put so much effort into sending all these messages, and Helag felt it would be wrong not to read them carefully.

He opened Bessie’s chat and sent a message: “I’m back.”

The communication stone lit up instantly, and Bessie replied almost immediately: “You’re back? Are you hurt?”

“No, everything’s fine. I’ve secured my place in the Land of Dawn and joined the Seranthiel wizard organization,” Helag replied.

“Good, I knew you’d make it! I don’t know much about wizard organizations in the Land of Dawn, but I’m sure it’s powerful. Don’t forget about me when you become a powerful wizard,” Bessie joked.

“If you want, I can bring you with me now. Don’t forget, I’m allowed to bring a spouse into the Land of Dawn,” Helag teased.

“I wish I could, but I’m bound by a contract with Moonlight Grove. Maybe in a hundred years,” Bessie sighed.

Back then, she had no choice but to sign the contract with Moonlight Grove—it was her only option.

Now, even if she wanted to leave with Helag, she couldn’t because of the contract.

Helag thought for a moment. “When I’m strong enough, I’ll help you deal with the contract.”

Contracts like that were binding for weaker wizards, but once you were powerful enough, everything was negotiable. Rules didn’t hold much weight for the strong.

“You’re painting a pretty picture for me! I’ll wait for the day you become strong enough,” Bessie replied, a smile tugging at her lips.

What Helag was saying seemed far off, but Bessie had a feeling that day would come.

“It’s not just a dream; it’s a promise,” Helag replied seriously.

“I believe you. You must be tired after just getting back, so get some rest,” Bessie responded.

After finishing his brief chat with Bessie, Asna curiously peeked over and asked, “What’s that?”

“This is a communication stone. It’s a tool that works with the magical network to send messages over long distances,” Helag explained.

Asna touched the stone, marveling, “What an amazing magical design.”

Though there were many spellcasters in the Elven Plane, they didn’t have anything like the magical network, nor had she ever heard of such a thing.

“When we get to the Land of Dawn, I’ll get one for you. There’s no point in getting one here since we won’t be staying long,” Helag said.

“Okay,” Asna nodded obediently.

Helag then opened Brack’s chat and sent a message: “Mr. Brack, we’re back.”

It didn’t take long for Brack to reply: “You’re back? How did it go?”

“I’ve joined the Seranthiel wizard organization, and David and Reese have also passed the assessment,” Helag responded.

“That’s fantastic!” Brack was so excited that he didn’t reply for a while.

This was incredible news for the Terchy family. Having two direct members enter the Land of Dawn would instantly elevate the family’s status by several levels.

Brack finally replied: “I’ll send someone to pick you up right away. David and Reese will be taken back to the family separately, as there are other arrangements for them. You should head straight to Blackrock Valley.”

“No problem, I’ll wait at Augustus Academy,” Helag said.

“They’ll be there soon. We’ve had people nearby waiting for you,” Brack replied.

Brack had estimated that Helag and the others would return around this time, so he had prepared a carriage and guards in advance.

He had been worried, fearing that all three of them might have perished inside.

During this time, some troubling news had come out of the Elven Plane.

Many wizards from the Barrens had died in the Elven Plane for various reasons.

Their deaths were reported back, and in cases where bodies could be recovered, they were sent home.

For those whose bodies couldn’t be retrieved or no longer existed, only the news of their deaths was sent back.

Over the past year, there had been many such reports, with heavy casualties.

Brack had been closely monitoring the situation, and the fact that he hadn’t heard anything about Helag, David, or Reese was a good sign, but he had still been on edge.

So when Helag finally messaged him, Brack couldn’t contain his excitement.

When Helag confirmed that all three had passed the assessment, Brack was overjoyed. He knew exactly what this meant for the Terchy family.

Before long, two carriages from the Terchy family arrived at the gates of Augustus Academy, each guarded by a crystallization wizard.

Helag, David, and Reese were now the most valuable people in the Terchy family, and no risks could be taken.

Brack jumped down from one of the carriages and, upon seeing Helag, patted him on the shoulder, saying, “Thank you!”

He was still overwhelmed with emotion, filled with gratitude toward Helag.

Brack knew that for all three of them to pass the assessment, and for Helag to even join a wizard organization in the Land of Dawn, Helag must have performed exceptionally well.

David and Reese had undoubtedly benefited from Helag’s help.

Brack was immensely grateful to Helag and felt incredibly fortunate that Larry had taken such a talented student under his wing.
