Chapter 366: The Spider
The Crawlers’ undead trait allowed them to keep moving even after being shattered.
Some Crawlers had lost their heads, with heads and bodies moving independently.
On the gorge’s cliffs, some Crawlers were stuck, wedged by their own limbs.
Helag ignored the Crawlers, flying swiftly past their area.
Most Crawlers were barely mobile, twitching at the gorge’s bottom.
The gorge was longer than Helag expected, flying for half an hour without seeing the end.
He no longer heard the sounds of battle between the Great Demon and Bawei, indicating a significant distance.
Helag slowed, cautiously flying further south before heading east.
The polluted zone was too dangerous; any creature could be beyond his power.
Helag knew his limits; escaping once or twice was lucky, but not guaranteed every time.
If targeted first, he’d be doomed.
Two hours later.
Helag stopped for two reasons.
First, he was far from the Great Demon, unlikely to encounter it again.
No other creatures appeared in the Demon’s territory.
Second, something felt off in the area.
The gorge seemed endless, and the surroundings were filled with large spider webs.
The gorge was covered in webs, with small spiders present.
These spiders weren’t true creatures, easily crushed by Helag.
Helag avoided provoking them, not touching the webs.
The scene suggested a spider-type creature nearby, though its nature was unclear.
Helag’s knowledge of the polluted zone was limited, lacking information.
Descending the gorge, he encountered no creatures until reaching the web-filled area, indicating another creature’s territory.
Helag observed his surroundings, monitoring Deep Blue’s feedback.
No notable creatures appeared, only small spiders crawling around.
Helag decided not to linger, flying upward to leave.
Suddenly, spatial ripples surrounded him.
Sensing danger, Helag felt a strong threat of death.
His instincts screamed as he prepared to activate his plane coordinates.
A numbing sensation spread from his tailbone, paralyzing him.
His muscles wouldn’t respond, and his magic became sluggish, unusable.
Only Deep Blue remained functional.
Through Deep Blue, Helag realized what happened.
A giant spider lurked in the void, with sixteen legs, each tipped with a venomous stinger.
The spider emerged from the void, its stinger striking Helag’s tailbone, paralyzing him with venom.
Helag lost mobility, unable to activate his coordinates.
The spider seemed to reside in a separate space, undetectable by Deep Blue.
Helag thought the area was clear, unaware he was in the spider’s hunting ground.
A thread connected the spider to the sky, likely linked to another space.
The spider hung from the thread, spinning webs to encase Helag in a silk cocoon.
Covered in sticky fluid from the spider’s mouth, Helag was wrapped in webs, forming a silk ball.
Though confined, the ball allowed some movement.
Helag was immobilized.
The spider carried him deeper into the gorge, toward a food storage area.
The gorge held countless silk balls, the spider’s captured prey.
Piled in a corner, there were hundreds of silk balls.
The prey inside seemed dead or paralyzed.
Some balls were large, indicating big prey.
Helag’s ball was small, tossed aside as the spider left to hunt.
Helag noticed the spider’s swollen abdomen, suspecting it was preparing to lay eggs.
The food storage was for the future hatchlings.
Helag became part of the food reserve, contemplating escape.
Before he could devise a plan, pain flared in his tailbone.
Through Deep Blue, Helag saw a small hole at the tailbone, with surrounding flesh and bone dissolving.
The spider’s venom paralyzed and dissolved flesh, making it easier for hatchlings to consume.
