Chapter 434: Master of the World
As Helag grasped the World Scepter, he experienced an unprecedented sensation.
He felt connected to the entire world.
Closing his eyes, Helag could perceive every corner of the world, sensing all occurrences.
Moreover, he felt forces he had never before detected.
These were the forces of rules.
Rules were invisible yet omnipresent, forming the foundation of the entire world.
Opening his eyes, Helag reached out to touch the empty space before him, feeling the spatial rules.
He sensed himself enveloped by these rules, always within their domain.
Previously, he hadn’t “opened his eyes” to this power, unaware of its existence.
Closing his eyes again, Helag immersed himself in the omnipresent power of rules.
He could, if he wished, shroud the clear sky with clouds once more.
With a mere thought, he could gradually alter a river’s course, though such changes required time.
This was the power of rules, yet also bound by them.
Helag couldn’t make a tree uproot and fly without cause, as it defied rules.
But he could summon a gale to uproot the tree.
Everything was governed by rules, omnipresent.
Helag relished this moment, feeling the world within his grasp.
He truly understood what it meant to be a deity.
Helag realized that, in this moment, he was the world’s will, able to wield rule power to achieve his desires.
“Deep Blue, record everything I see and experience now.”
Helag knew he couldn’t wield the World Scepter indefinitely; it wasn’t for a first-level wizard to possess. Recording the experience for future reference was prudent.
Though a second-tier magical tool, the World Scepter’s value exceeded its rank once world control was seized.
Even if offered, Helag wouldn’t keep it, unable to bear the burden it entailed.
Helag understood his limits; possessing such an item without sufficient power invited disaster.
Temporarily becoming the world’s master, seeing and manipulating rule power, was reward enough.
For Helag, this was the most valuable gain.
“Time rules…”
Helag opened his hand, observing his fingers.
Like spatial rules, time rules were omnipresent.
To Helag, these rules flowed and moved continuously.
He considered halting time worldwide but found it impossible.
Realizing his current power, through the World Scepter, was insufficient, he understood.
Theoretically, halting time was possible, but he lacked the strength to support such an act.
Halting time wasn’t part of the world’s natural order, requiring immense power to manipulate rules. Helag could only perceive, see, and slightly use rules through the scepter.
Understanding this, Helag refrained from attempting to halt time, avoiding self-exhaustion.
As a first-level wizard, he lacked the power to manipulate rules on such a scale.
With a wave, Helag summoned a gust.
He used no spells, merely basic rule power, requiring no magic input.
Helag then infused magic into the World Scepter, attempting to summon clouds and thunder.
Immediately, his magic drained rapidly into the scepter.
Stopping quickly, Helag ceased the flow.
Looking up, he saw clouds forming, hinting at rain.
“Remaining magic: 36%.”
Seeing his magic reserves, Helag sweated.
In an instant, he’d used over half his magic.
If the weather change followed natural rules, it wouldn’t deplete so much magic.
But forcing a clear sky into a storm required personal energy input.
Through this experiment, Helag gauged his rule power manipulation limits.
He couldn’t drastically alter the world’s order.
Significant changes demanded sufficient energy.
Helag realized why the world will couldn’t directly kill invaders entering through spatial passages.
It defied rules; the world will lacked means to kill invaders, instead nurturing plane’s chosen to indirectly expel them.
As Helag pondered rule power, he noticed many wizards approaching.
Among them was someone Helag preferred to avoid: Medel.
Medel, with a dark expression, watched Helag floating, holding the World Scepter.
All present wizards understood the scene’s significance.
They hadn’t expected Helag to seize world control so swiftly; they had lost.
If Helag activated his teleportation ring to return to the wizard plane, it would be Seranthiel’s victory.
Forcing a smile, Medel addressed Helag, “Congratulations, Mr. Helag. I didn’t expect you to succeed.”
“Thanks, just lucky,” Helag replied.
He hesitated to activate his ring, contemplating a decision.
Should he eliminate Medel to prevent future trouble?
But with so many witnesses, killing everyone was impossible.
Medel smiled, “Mr. Helag, let’s make a deal. Give me the World Scepter, and I promise you’ll never lack resources. With the Taylor family backing you, you can cultivate in peace. Wealth, power, strength—I’ll provide it all. All I need is that small World Scepter.”
