- Chapter 68 - Why Did the Curator Call Xia Tian "Boss"?
Tang Hao made his way through the crowd and approached Qiao Shaoxuan.
Qiao Shaoxuan was startled.
He hadn’t expected the curator to arrive so quickly.
To avoid exposing the fact that Tang Hao wasn’t actually his uncle, Qiao Shaoxuan quickly pulled Tang Hao aside.
“Curator, I’ll give you another 1,000 yuan if you throw that guy out of the museum.”
“Don’t worry, it won’t cause you any trouble. He’s been mouthing off and ruining the atmosphere here, so throwing him out is completely justified.”
Tang Hao frowned, a puzzled expression on his face as he looked at Qiao Shaoxuan. “Kid, what are you thinking?”
“I came over to return the money you gave me earlier. The museum is really busy right now, and there aren’t any staff who can leave to buy drinks for you.”
Earlier, Qiao Shaoxuan had handed Tang Hao 1,000 yuan, asking him to find a staff member to go out and buy drinks and bring them back to the message wall area. Qiao Shaoxuan had suggested that the remaining money would serve as a tip.
At first, Tang Hao had thought it was a nice way to make some extra cash without much hassle. After all, buying drinks wasn’t a big deal.
But after Qiao Shaoxuan left, Tang Hao realized that the museum was packed, and none of the staff were free.
As the curator, there was no way he could leave the museum to go buy drinks himself, so he had planned to return the money to Qiao Shaoxuan.
“Uncle, please don’t refuse… I’ve already told my classmates that staff are going to bring drinks over. You can’t let me down now.”
Qiao Shaoxuan began to panic.
If Xu Yuan and the others found out that Tang Hao wasn’t really his uncle and that he had made the whole thing up, he’d be utterly humiliated.
Desperate, he decided to double down. “Alright, if the drinks can’t be done, that’s fine. I’ll give you another 2,000 yuan on top of the 1,000, just throw that guy out of here.”
As he spoke, Qiao Shaoxuan pointed at Xia Tian, who was standing leisurely nearby.
In Qiao Shaoxuan’s mind, 3,000 yuan was no small sum to a curator. It was nearly half a month’s salary.
Surely the curator wouldn’t refuse to kick out someone who had only paid 29 yuan for a ticket.
Tang Hao glanced back at Xia Tian, and his face immediately changed.
—
Chen Jiayi pulled the teary-eyed Xu Yuan back to her side, offering words of comfort.
She watched as Qiao Shaoxuan pointed at Xia Tian, and the curator followed his gaze.
Chen Jiayi’s expression lit up with excitement, and she turned to Xia Tian with a smirk.
“You’re done for. Qiao Shaoxuan must’ve told his uncle about what happened. Little Yuan, don’t worry—I’m sure Qiao Shaoxuan will stand up for you!”
Xu Yuan rubbed her eyes, staying silent.
This time, Xia Tian had truly gone too far, showing her no regard in front of so many people.
Well, maybe a little lesson would do him good.
Of course, when Xia Tian was on the verge of being thrown out, Xu Yuan planned to step in and stand up for him.
That way, not only would Xia Tian be grateful to her, but she could also show her classmates that she wasn’t the type to hold grudges.
Tang Hao and Qiao Shaoxuan approached.
Chen Jiayi’s smile grew wider.
“Uncle, it’s him! Get your staff to throw him out!”
Qiao Shaoxuan pointed at Xia Tian, confident that Tang Hao’s approach meant he had agreed to their deal.
But Xia Tian remained calm, looking at Tang Hao with a faint smile. “Curator Tang, are you really going to throw me out?”
“Ahem, of course not. What a joke.”
“Oh, so is Qiao Shaoxuan really your nephew? Beian sure is a small place.”
Tang Hao’s expression immediately shifted, and he turned to Qiao Shaoxuan with a look of disbelief.
“Huh? I don’t even know him. This guy just gave me 1,000 yuan earlier, asking me to send someone to buy drinks and bring them here. He said I could keep the extra as a tip.”
“But we’re short-staffed, so I was coming over to return the money. And just now, he offered even more money to have you thrown out…”
Boom!
It felt like a bomb had just exploded in Qiao Shaoxuan’s head.
“What the hell?! Is this old man crazy? We had a deal, didn’t we? Why the hell would he expose me in front of everyone like this?”
Qiao Shaoxuan was completely dumbfounded, silently cursing Tang Hao.
But Tang Hao had already said it, and the surrounding classmates weren’t deaf.
Sure enough, upon hearing Tang Hao’s words, everyone turned to look at Qiao Shaoxuan, and the room quickly filled with hushed whispers.
“So the curator isn’t really Qiao Shaoxuan’s uncle? And the drinks were only because he paid for them?”
“Pfft, is this a failed attempt at showing off?”
“Honestly, I almost feel sorry for him… haha.”
Chen Jiayi and Li Huihui, who had been standing by Qiao Shaoxuan, were now also feeling awkward.
They finally realized why Xia Tian had been so confident that he wouldn’t be thrown out—it was because he had already seen through Qiao Shaoxuan’s lie.
As for Xia Tian, after hearing Tang Hao’s explanation, he realized he, too, had been fooled.
So it was all an act from the start, and Tang Hao had no real connection to Qiao Shaoxuan at all.
With this realization, a playful smile crept onto Xia Tian’s face.
—
The whispers from the crowd grew louder, each word piercing Qiao Shaoxuan’s ears.
His face flushed red with embarrassment, and sweat began to bead on his forehead.
But there was no way Qiao Shaoxuan could back down now.
Refusing to let things end like this, he clenched his jaw and decided to admit the truth, hoping to save face.
“Fine, the curator isn’t my uncle. I lied. But Xia Tian still has to be thrown out today! Curator, if you throw him out, I’ll give you 5,000 yuan!”
“Hahaha, Xia Tian, you may have caught me in a lie, but let me show you what money can really do!”
But Tang Hao looked at Qiao Shaoxuan like he was an idiot and ignored him completely.
Instead, Tang Hao took a few steps closer to Xia Tian and respectfully asked, “Boss, is this your classmate? How would you like me to handle him?”
Xia Tian frowned and quickly responded, “Don’t joke around. I don’t have such a foolish classmate. Just throw him out. And in the future, don’t let people like him into the museum.”
“Understood, boss.”
Tang Hao then pulled out his walkie-talkie. “Security, report to the message wall immediately.”
After finishing the call, Tang Hao stood silently behind Xia Tian, his posture respectful.
Silence.
Complete and utter silence.
Qiao Shaoxuan was dumbfounded.
Xu Yuan was dumbfounded.
Chen Jiayi, Li Huihui, and the rest of the Senior 3, Class 6 students were all dumbfounded.
What was going on?
Tang Hao, the curator of the Heartbreak Museum, just called Xia Tian “boss”?!
And now he was ordering security to throw Qiao Shaoxuan out of the museum?
“What the hell? Did I hear that right? The curator just called Xia Tian ‘boss’? What’s going on here?”
“No way… does that mean Xia Tian is the owner of this museum?”
“Holy crap, holy crap, holy crap! I just remembered, Xia Tian said earlier that if he got thrown out, he’d fire the curator. Now it looks like he was telling the truth! Xia Tian really is the owner of the Heartbreak Museum!”
The students from Senior 3, Class 6 were in shock. They had never expected such a dramatic twist.
Even Xu Yuan was staring at Xia Tian in disbelief.
Shortly after, two security guards arrived.
Tang Hao pointed at the still-stunned Qiao Shaoxuan with his chin and said, “Escort him out of the museum.”
“Yes, sir.”
The security guards walked up to Qiao Shaoxuan. “Sir, please leave the museum immediately.”
Hearing the guards, Qiao Shaoxuan finally snapped back to reality, staring at Xia Tian and Tang Hao in utter disbelief.
“No! This can’t be happening! There’s no way Xia Tian is the owner of the museum! You’re all lying to me!”
But the security guards frowned.
“Sir, please leave the museum now, or we’ll have to forcibly escort you out.”
Still refusing to leave, Qiao Shaoxuan ignored the guards and continued shouting, “Curator, how much money did Xia Tian pay you to go along with this? I’ll pay you double!”
Tang Hao clicked his tongue in annoyance and said to the guards, “Throw him out.”
“Understood.”
With their orders confirmed, the two security guards grabbed Qiao Shaoxuan, lifted him up, and began carrying him toward the exit.
Hearing Tang Hao’s command was the final nail in the coffin for Qiao Shaoxuan.
His heart sank as he realized it was all over.
He struggled wildly, screaming like a madman, but the guards still threw him out of the museum.
The students from Senior 3, Class 6 stood there, slack-jawed, watching the unbelievable scene unfold.
Someone really had been thrown out!
But it wasn’t Xia Tian.
It was Qiao Shaoxuan…
