Chapter 331: Werewolf Game
Zhang Zhiyin’s question had Fang Zhou stumped. Did he really need to make a final choice?
The show’s producers had only required them to complete the season. The final choice was left entirely up to the guests. So, did this mean Fang Zhou had the option to choose or not choose anyone?
He stared at the table in front of him, seemingly deep in thought. Zhang Zhiyin’s eyes dimmed slightly. It was clear he wouldn’t choose her.
“If I had to choose…” Fang Zhou cleared his throat, trying to sound serious.
Zhang Zhiyin tilted her head, waiting for his decision.
Fang Zhou’s eyes sparkled mischievously, and he pointed to Li Siming, who was helping Wenjing with a board game nearby. “I choose Li Siming!”
“What?” Zhang Zhiyin was confused. “What does that mean?”
“Haha, it means I choose no one. I’m going solo,” Fang Zhou joked, clearly not wanting to delve into the matter.
In truth, he had a few options. There was Chu Xinran, innocent yet devoted to him. Her psychologist had reported recent improvements in her mental state. Then there was Qiao Sisi, his first love, who had grown more stable. Lastly, Han Xi, who though still strong-willed, had become more reasonable and compliant.
How was he supposed to choose? Fang Zhou decided not to think about it, believing that everything would work out in the end.
Realizing she had been tricked, Zhang Zhiyin pretended to be angry. “Fine, I’ll go tell Li Siming that you’ve had a crush on him!”
She pretended to get up, genuinely fooling Fang Zhou. He quickly grabbed her arm, pleading, “Please don’t! I was just joking! Please forgive me!”
He couldn’t risk Li Siming taking it seriously and becoming paranoid about it. As a good friend, he didn’t want to cause unnecessary trouble, especially explaining it to Li Siming’s girlfriend.
“Alright, I’ll let it go this time,” Zhang Zhiyin huffed, turning her attention away from the awkward topic.
Just then, the team members called out, “Hey, Fang Zhou, what are you two whispering about over there? We need more players for Werewolf! Come on!”
Werewolf needed at least seven or eight players to capture the game’s spirit, so they gathered everyone around.
“We’re coming!” Fang Zhou replied, eager to join in. “Let’s go play! I remember you’re pretty good at this, right?”
Zhang Zhiyin chuckled. “I’m surprised you remember.”
Back in high school, Werewolf was all the rage. Groups of students played it constantly in the classroom. Zhang Zhiyin, usually a diligent student, found herself intrigued when she saw Fang Zhou deeply engrossed in the game and decided to join in.
Initially, everyone thought she was a novice and let her win. But soon, they realized Zhang Zhiyin was simply playing the innocent card. With her pure looks and clear eyes, she fooled most of her classmates. Eventually, they stopped trusting her words and focused on logical deductions.
Fang Zhou often found himself targeted, especially when he wasn’t holding the wolf card. Zhang Zhiyin would always mark him as the first to be eliminated, leading him to joke that she was the reason he had more time to study and achieved such good grades.
Both of them laughed at the memory. Only Zhang Zhiyin knew whether she intentionally targeted Fang Zhou.
Su Yang volunteered to be the host. With six studio members, Li Siming, Fang Wenjing, Zhang Zhiyin, and Fang Zhou, they formed a perfect ten-person group.
“Close your eyes, everyone. Werewolves, open your eyes,” Su Yang announced.
Everyone laid their heads on the table, with only three opening their eyes: Fang Zhou, Li Siming, and Fang Wenjing.
“Who should we kill?” Li Siming mouthed to the others. Wenjing looked at her brother, waiting for his decision.
Fang Zhou grinned and pointed at himself, planning to self-inflict to trick the healer into using the antidote.
“Werewolves, close your eyes. Healer, open your eyes,” Su Yang continued.
Zhang Zhiyin opened her eyes. She was the healer.
“Someone died last night. Do you want to use your antidote to save them?” Su Yang asked, pointing at Fang Zhou.
Zhang Zhiyin glanced at Fang Zhou and nodded, indicating she would save him.
“Seer, open your eyes. You can check one person’s identity,” Su Yang said, ending the first night.
The next day, everyone’s attention turned to the player claiming to be the seer.
“Fang Zhou is a werewolf!” one player accused.
Successfully executing his self-inflicted wound plan, Fang Zhou countered, “I checked Zhang Zhiyin last night. She’s a good person. You jumping to accuse me makes you suspicious.”
Everyone began defending themselves, and when it was Zhang Zhiyin’s turn, she smiled. “I’m inclined to believe Fang Zhou. My suggestion is to vote one person out now and poison another at night. If there’s a tie, neither can stay.”
Her smile brought Fang Zhou back to their younger days, reminding him of the times Zhang Zhiyin would skillfully eliminate him. It seemed she hadn’t lost her rational edge.
The game continued, full of laughter and strategy, with everyone enjoying the nostalgic yet thrilling experience.
