Perhaps due to the overwhelming buzz around Fang Zhou and his ex-girlfriends, or perhaps because someone wanted to stir up more drama, Fang Zhou received an invitation the day after his statement went out. He was invited to provide commentary for an upcoming match between celebrities and professional players.

Fang Zhou’s eyes lit up. This was a fantastic opportunity! He could earn money, gain exposure, and increase his popularity—something any game streamer would dream of.

Without hesitation, Fang Zhou accepted the invitation, eager to participate.

Li Siming and Su Yang, however, expressed their concerns.

“Given the current situation, you’ll be in the public eye doing commentary. What if the audience criticizes you?” Li Siming worried.

“Yeah, these people can be really harsh. The platform will show real-time comments, and you might end up crying,” Su Yang added.

Fang Zhou laughed heartily, dismissing their concerns.

“Why would I cry with so much money in my pocket? If anything, I’d cry tears of joy. Money is my armor, impervious to all poison~”

Seeing his determination, Li Siming and Su Yang dropped the matter, hoping he would indeed be as resilient as he claimed.

Two days later, Fang Zhou arrived at the event venue as scheduled. This was a friendly match featuring the hottest celebrities and professional players, designed to promote an upcoming e-sports show. Two well-known figures from the gaming and streaming circles were invited for professional commentary.

As soon as he stepped backstage, Fang Zhou recognized many familiar faces—former teammates and popular streamers from game highlight videos. He even spotted Qiao Sisi resting in the makeup room.

Reflecting on the smallness of the world, Fang Zhou realized this was the first time they had met since he had shielded her from a crazed fan. Qiao Sisi had been busy shooting films right after dealing with the stalker, likely taking time off to attend this variety show. With her eyes closed, she leaned back in her chair, looking exhausted.

Since it was the program venue, Fang Zhou refrained from disturbing her and headed directly to the commentary room specified by the director.

He was one of the last to arrive. Inside, a pretty female host and another man, both wearing headsets, were already seated. The man looked oddly familiar to Fang Zhou.

Frowning in thought, it suddenly clicked—this was Wang Fei, his old rival from the ‘Starry Sky’ guild.

Before Fang Zhou had boosted the ‘Starry Sky’ guild’s popularity, Wang Fei had been the top streamer, enjoying considerable fame and the most fans. After Fang Zhou’s rise, all guild resources and focus shifted to him, and the guild boss’s praise switched from Wang Fei to Fang Zhou.

Falling from grace to being the perpetual second place in the guild was a blow Wang Fei couldn’t stomach. He often caused trouble for Fang Zhou, such as agreeing to a fair match but then instructing his fans to sabotage Fang Zhou’s gameplay, or going AFK during team games, leaving them short-handed.

Initially, Fang Zhou thought Wang Fei was just misguided. But after multiple incidents, he realized Wang Fei was playing him for a fool. After a few warnings, Fang Zhou finally saw Wang Fei for what he was but chose to keep the peace for the guild’s sake.

He privately informed the guild boss, who gave Wang Fei a token fine, and the matter was swept under the rug. However, Wang Fei remained disgruntled. When Fang Zhou’s popularity waned after he stopped streaming, Wang Fei took the opportunity to mock him during joint streams, bringing in trolls to disrupt Fang Zhou’s streams and eventually getting blocked by him.

Fang Zhou hadn’t expected to encounter Wang Fei here. Given Wang Fei’s fanbase, he shouldn’t have qualified for this event unless the guild boss had paid a hefty sum to get him in.

Seeing Fang Zhou, Wang Fei’s expression changed instantly, his face alternating between blue and white. It was clear he was on the verge of asking, “What are you doing here?”

The perceptive host quickly stood up to greet Fang Zhou.

“You must be Fang Zhou? I’m the host, Xiao Lu. Welcome to our show!”

Fang Zhou smiled politely at the host.

“Hello, Xiao Lu, I’m Fang Zhou.”

Xiao Lu gestured to the seat next to her, glancing awkwardly at Wang Fei before saying, “Sorry, Wang Fei. This seat was reserved for Fang Zhou by the director. Your seat is over there.”

Wang Fei’s face turned green. He couldn’t believe his ears and glared at Xiao Lu.

“Why didn’t you say anything when I sat here earlier?”

Xiao Lu laughed awkwardly, trying to smooth things over.

“I thought you were Fang Zhou, so I didn’t say anything.”

Despite her cheerful exterior, Xiao Lu silently criticized Wang Fei: “Who told you to rush to the center seat, fearing you wouldn’t get screen time during the livestream?”

Xiao Lu had seen many like Wang Fei, who used various tactics to get more attention on shows—wearing clothes in different color schemes, sporting bizarre hairstyles, or dressing eccentrically. She could tell what Wang Fei was about at a glance, so she waited for Fang Zhou to arrive before pointing it out, giving Wang Fei a subtle reprimand.

Being ambitious wasn’t bad, but one’s talent had to match their ambition.

From her knowledge, Wang Fei’s popularity and skills were far below Fang Zhou’s.

Fang Zhou chuckled, nodding appreciatively at Xiao Lu.

“Thank you, host.”

He then turned to Wang Fei, who reluctantly stood up to move to the side seat.

Fang Zhou raised an eyebrow and said, “Is there a cushion? I’d like one.”

Wang Fei’s face darkened, and he snapped, “What’s that supposed to mean? I’m not sick!”

At that moment, he resembled an enraged, impotent lion, appearing rude and unstable.

Fang Zhou laughed and shrugged.

“I just don’t like sitting where someone else has been sitting for too long.”

Wang Fei clenched his fists in anger but could do nothing about it.
