Blue Baby’s Breath

Additionally, its superior environment and unique location make it a convenient and picturesque garden-style hospital.

Patients can enjoy a pleasant walk as if they were strolling through the mountains. Even the views from the inpatient department are exceptionally beautiful.

When Fang Zhou stepped into his sister’s hospital room, he saw her peering through a telescope, gazing into the distance.

“Sis, how are you feeling?”

Hearing his voice, Fang Wenjing turned around, her face lighting up with joy. “Brother! You’re here!”

“Hehe, I found something cool. Come and see!”

Fang Zhou rarely saw his sister so cheerful in the hospital, and it made him happy too. As he walked over, he asked, “What did you see that’s got you so excited?”

Fang Wenjing handed him the telescope and pointed in a direction. “Over there, in that tree! Look closely!”

Fang Zhou’s gaze finally focused on the branches of a tall, ancient sycamore tree.

The tree’s wide canopy and lush leaves resembled a giant sunshade.

On one of the branches, a black bird’s nest sat securely. It looked a bit rough but was full of life.

Fang Zhou observed the nest and saw several adorable baby birds inside.

Covered in soft down, their eyes were not fully open yet, making them look very young.

Their tiny beaks were wide open, seemingly waiting for food.

Just then, a large black bird flew back. Its wings were broad and powerful, and it flew gracefully. As it approached the nest, Fang Zhou noticed it had something in its beak.

The bird landed beside the nest and fed the baby birds one by one.

The baby birds eagerly swallowed the food and then opened their beaks again, waiting for the next feeding.

Fang Zhou guessed that the bird was feeding its young, and the scene filled him with warmth and emotion.

Seeing this, Fang Zhou couldn’t help but tease, “Wow, you found such a tricky angle. You must be really bored.”

Fang Wenjing was used to her brother’s playful teasing.

She rolled her eyes and huffed, “I’m not bored; I’m just finding joy in life! It’s called having a keen eye for beauty! Don’t you get it?”

Just hearing her energetic voice made it seem like she was a healthy, lively girl.

But when Fang Zhou lowered the telescope and faced Fang Wenjing’s pale face, he knew that voices could be deceiving.

She wasn’t doing well at all.

Her lips were pale, her cheeks sunken, and she had lost a lot of weight, looking like she could be blown away by a strong wind.

Aunt Wei had mentioned that she couldn’t eat solid food anymore and could only consume liquids to maintain her strength.

Fang Zhou’s heart ached, wishing he could take her place and endure the pain for her.

“What’s wrong? Are you stunned by my brilliance? Why aren’t you saying anything?”

Fang Wenjing stepped closer, carefully observing her brother, concerned.

Fang Zhou quickly raised the telescope again, pretending to watch the birds to hide his sadness.

“Nothing, I was just mesmerized.”

He told himself: It’s okay, she’ll soon have a kidney transplant and be a healthy, lively kid again.

Fang Wenjing didn’t suspect anything and nodded, looking into the distance, even though she couldn’t see anything. Her mind was already filled with images.

“Yeah, I remember Grandpa used to catch birds for me to play with when I was little!”

“Sometimes he’d bring frogs, grasshoppers, and crickets. They were my playmates when you weren’t home.”

Fang Zhou put down the telescope and started reminiscing about their childhood.

“Remember when I took you to get a bird’s nest, and you broke two of the three eggs? The last one you brought home ended up rotting!”

Talking about her embarrassing moments made Fang Wenjing blush with embarrassment.

“How was that my fault? I didn’t know it would rot! I thought it needed to be kept warm!”

“Only in winter! You wrapped it in layers of cotton in the middle of summer. Of course, it rotted!”

“Why didn’t you remind me?”

Fang Zhou sighed, “You were so afraid I’d take the egg that you didn’t even tell me where you hid it!”

He later found out that his dear sister had hidden the egg in his bed!

If it hadn’t started to smell, Fang Zhou would have only found out after crushing it.

Fang Wenjing laughed, her face finally showing a hint of color.

“Haha, I thought I couldn’t hatch it, so I put it in your bed.”

Fang Zhou gently patted her shoulder, shaking his head. “Well, turns out I can’t hatch eggs either.”

The siblings shared a laugh, both happy to recall their childhood memories.

The laughter from the hospital room reached the ears of a woman standing in the hallway, about to knock on the door.

“Ms. Han? Aren’t you going in?”

The assistant, puzzled by the woman’s turned back, whispered.

Originally, the CEO had come to a nearby company for business. Before leaving, she had bought flowers and detoured to the hospital to visit a patient.

So why was she hesitating at the door now?

The assistant couldn’t understand.

Han Xi stopped, glanced at the bouquet of blue baby’s breath in the assistant’s arms, and shook her head. “Leave the flowers at the door. We’re not going in.”

Though confused, the assistant complied.

“Let’s go.”

They quickly returned to the elevator.

In the confined space, silence spread. The assistant sensed that the CEO was in a bad mood but didn’t dare ask. He held his breath, trying to make himself less noticeable.

He thought: Women’s hearts are hard to understand. Lately, Ms. Han’s mood has been as unpredictable as mountain weather.

Finally, Han Xi broke the silence.

“If Fang Zhou is here in the future, let me know in advance so I can avoid him.”

The assistant’s breath caught, finally understanding why the CEO hadn’t gone in.

She wanted to avoid the awkwardness of seeing her ex-boyfriend!

But then, why come to visit his sister?

The assistant was puzzled, but Han Xi wouldn’t explain.

In truth, he wasn’t wrong.

Han Xi didn’t want to see Fang Zhou because she feared losing control, letting her emotions get the better of her, and doing something irreversible.

So, it was better not to see him until everything calmed down.

Outside the hospital room, a nurse pushing a medicine cart noticed the flowers on the floor.

She opened the door and asked, “Did you forget this big bouquet of flowers?”

Fang Zhou and his sister looked at each other in surprise, asking, “Who sent it?”

The only answer was the silent bouquet of blue baby’s breath, symbolizing blessings and protection.
