The Command to Pamper the Husband - Chapter 149
The elderly physician ignored Lu Zhan and took out a silver needle, pricking several of Shen Yue’s acupuncture points. Soon, black blood started to ooze from Shen Yue’s fingertips, foul-smelling and thick like rotten blood. It pooled in the white porcelain cup the physician held to catch it.
“I’ll see if I can find an antidote, but chances are slim. The key is to find the person who administered the poison,” the physician said.
After collecting half a cup of black blood, he put away the silver needle and took out a small silver spoon, scooping a bit of the black blood into another white porcelain cup. He then grabbed a tea cup, pouring half a cup of water into it. The thick black blood didn’t dissolve in the tea water, remaining a solid lump. Lu Zhan watched in confusion.
“What are you doing?” he asked.
The physician’s expression remained unchanged, a sinister smile in his eyes. He took out a small white bottle from his medicine chest, tapped out a bit of pink powder, and mixed it into the tea. The slightly yellow tea immediately turned clear and transparent, like pure water, and the blood clot disappeared.
Lu Zhan was dumbfounded. The physician said, “Find a way to mix this into Song Jin’s food. Once she ingests it, she’ll be connected to our prince. The poison in his body will affect her too.”
Lu Zhan looked at the physician in shock. “We can’t do that.”
The physician raised an eyebrow. “Can’t do it?”
Lu Zhan quickly explained, “There’s no need to bind Miss Song to the prince like this. She is using his body. She won’t abandon it. If the prince dies, she loses his body too.”
“What if she doesn’t want to switch back? Using the prince’s body is very convenient for her.”
Lu Zhan hesitated. Would Song Jin really not want to switch back? Did she want to keep the prince’s body?
As Lu Zhan stood there, pondering, a guard came in. “The food has arrived. It’s on the table outside.”
Lu Zhan turned to the guard. Normally, the guards didn’t report back this way. Why this time?
Sensing something, he walked outside. Sure enough, a table full of food awaited him. He looked around and saw no one else. In a low voice, he asked, “What’s going on?”
The guard whispered, “After leaving the palace, the Crown Prince went to the mountains and stayed for an hour. We searched the area but found nothing.”
Lu Zhan nodded slowly, the gears in his mind turning. What had the Crown Prince been doing up there?
“I understand,” he said, dismissing the guard.
He stared out the window, pondering his next move. The Crown Prince seemed to be accelerating his plans, but to what end?
Back inside, the physician, expressionless, tapped the tea cup with his finger. “I’m leaving.”
With that, he departed, leaving Lu Zhan staring at the tea cup. Should he really use this method to bind Song Jin and the prince together? Would Song Jin really not help if she wasn’t forced?
As he wrestled with these thoughts, Wan Xi burst in, glaring at Lu Zhan. “At least you had the decency to prepare the meal!”
Before Lu Zhan could react, Wan Xi grabbed the tea cup and was about to drink it.
Lu Zhan panicked, feeling his body go limp. He lunged at Wan Xi like a tiger pouncing on its prey.
Wan Xi was startled. “What the—!”
As Lu Zhan tackled her, she fell to the ground with him on top of her, gasping and trembling.
Song Jin walked in at that moment, her eyes widening at the scene.
“Are you okay with this, Wan Xi?” Song Jin asked.
Wan Xi and Lu Zhan both froze. Lu Zhan, realizing their compromising position, scrambled to his feet, blushing furiously.
“I-I didn’t mean to, I—” he stammered, noticing the spilled tea cup on the ground. The relief washed over him as he saw the liquid had spilled.
Wan Xi got up and glared at Lu Zhan. “Are you crazy? I was just getting a drink! Are you trying to starve us?”
A drink? Song Jin glanced at the spilled cup, a hint of a smile playing on her lips. She had a good idea of what had happened.
“Tsk tsk, my brain isn’t completely useless after all,” she thought.
Clearing her throat, Song Jin decided to let it go. She sat at the table, her face serious. “I’m running out of patience. If you have something to tell me, do it now.”
Lu Zhan hesitated, then said, “Your father didn’t trust the situation, so he arranged for four secret guards to protect you.”
Song Jin had suspected as much. She remained silent, waiting for him to continue.
Lu Zhan swallowed. “Our prince managed to lure those guards out and… neutralized them.”
Song Jin’s eyes widened in shock. Her father had sent secret guards to ensure her safety, and Shen Yue had taken them out?
