The Command to Pamper the Husband - Chapter 214
Sun Qiyao’s revelation stunned everyone into silence. Even the Heavenly Hound was left dumbfounded.
The Crown Prince hesitated for a moment, then quickly pulled Song Jin into his arms, stepping back and away from Sun Qiyao, eyeing her warily. “You are married now.”
Sun Qiyao wiped her tears and said to Song Jin, “We can be best friends.”
Sun Ke and the Crown Prince responded in unison, “That’s unnecessary!”
Sun Qiyao and Song Jin both fell silent.
After a brief but shocked silence, the recognition ceremony ended swiftly.
Outside, soldiers disguised as imperial guards stormed in.
“Your Highness, the residence is surrounded. The Great General has personally led his troops inside.”
The Crown Prince glanced at Zhao Jide. Zhao Jide immediately embraced Song Dingzhong’s shoulder. “I am with him.”
Song Dingzhong glanced weakly at Sun Qiyao. He felt Zhao Jide’s words were somehow inappropriate, but given the urgency, he didn’t argue.
Song Dingzhong nodded slightly, and the Crown Prince said, “Song Jin and I will fight our way into the palace. Minister Zhao, please find a way to keep the ministers in the Imperial Hall.”
This was the plan that the Crown Prince and Song Dingzhong had devised. However, the unexpected presence of Song Jin had altered their plans.
With the tasks assigned, the Crown Prince’s death warriors led Zhao Jide and Song Dingzhong into the secret passageway to leave the residence. Meanwhile, Song Jin and the Crown Prince, along with all the dark guards and death warriors, prepared to face the attackers head-on.
As they stepped out, the Great General and his men charged in, attacking without mercy.
There was no room for talk. The moment the Great General saw Song Jin and the Crown Prince, he commanded, “Fire arrows!”
Close combat would have allowed them some leeway, but arrows were the quickest way to end the battle. He didn’t care if innocent people got hurt.
At his command, hundreds of archers pulled their bows taut and unleashed a volley of arrows at Song Jin and the Crown Prince, giving them no time to react.
The Crown Prince instinctively swung his sword, pulling Song Jin behind him. Song Jin gently pressed his hand down. Just as the rain of arrows was about to reach them, she stood on tiptoe, kissed the Crown Prince lightly on the lips, and smiled brilliantly.
Then, turning with a fierce gaze toward the Great General, she clenched her fists and raised her hands. The arrows turned mid-air and shot back at the archers.
“Protect the General!”
The unexpected reversal threw the experienced soldiers into disarray. Even the Great General, knowing she had greater spiritual power than the Empress and could control weapons, had not anticipated her turning the arrows so swiftly.
Soldiers raised their shields, forming a protective barrier around the Great General. The arrows struck the shields. With a cold smile, Song Jin stepped forward, and with each step, the soldiers’ shields were torn from their grasp and flung aside.
In their panic, the soldiers drew their swords and retreated, protecting the Great General. Each step they took back, Song Jin took a step forward. The fallen arrows rose again and targeted the soldiers. Without their shields, they were defenseless against the arrows that precisely pierced their throats.
One by one, the soldiers fell, and the Great General, who had brought thousands of men, found his forces decimated before the battle even began. He fled the residence on horseback, but Song Jin didn’t let him escape. A sword flew up from the ground and struck the horse’s foreleg. The horse buckled, and the Great General tumbled to the ground.
As he fell, the Crown Prince’s death warriors advanced, their swords aimed at him. He had come to kill, only to be killed in return.
Song Jin stepped forward, placing her foot on the Great General’s face. Even after sixteen years, she recognized him as the one who had stormed into a mansion and slaughtered nearly everyone.
“You colluded with traitors and killed my Father Emperor and Mother Empress. You should have expected this outcome,” Song Jin said, stomping on his face.
The Great General glared at her with rage. “I should have killed you back then.”
Song Jin sneered. “You act as if you didn’t want to kill me. Unfortunately, you lacked the ability to eliminate me, so now I am here to finish you.”
The Crown Prince raised his hand and commanded, “Take him away.”
He had anticipated a fierce battle today but was surprised by how easily they had won. The death warriors took the Great General away, and the Crown Prince lifted Song Jin into his arms.
She tried to get down, but he kissed her gently. Unlike her light kiss earlier, his kiss was deep and intense, leaving her breathless. Finally, he let go.
“You used too much spiritual power earlier. I’ll carry you,” he said.
Song Jin wrapped her arms around his neck. “Alright.”
The Crown Prince kissed her again. “Why did you kiss me earlier?”
Knowing he referred to her earlier kiss, she smiled. “I was afraid I wouldn’t see you again.”
The Crown Prince tightened his hold. “We will grow old together.”
At the Great General’s residence, the Crown Prince stood at the gate and gave the order, “Kill them all!”
He would repay the massacre of his family in kind. Song Jin listened to the screams from inside. Innocent servants, newborns, and pregnant women were all caught in the carnage.
Maybe they deserved pity, but she couldn’t afford to be merciful. Call her cold-blooded or ruthless, but she believed in eliminating threats completely to avoid future dangers.
The Great General was tied to a stone lion at the gate, listening to the screams. His eyes were bloodshot with rage, but Song Jin and the Crown Prince didn’t spare him a glance.
When the massacre was over, the Crown Prince turned to the Great General. “Did you think it was over? There’s more.”
The Great General, his eyes wide with fury, spat out a mouthful of blood. The Crown Prince ordered, “To the Duke of An’s residence!”
The Great General’s eyes bulged in shock. “No! Not there!”
The Duke of An’s residence belonged to his eldest legitimate son. After the events of sixteen years ago, he had lived in constant fear and had expelled his son from the family to protect him in case of disaster.
