Attached was a screenshot showing a few home-cooked dishes that looked pretty good. There was also a pic of a little girl with pigtails, happily holding chopsticks across the table—super cute.

Shen Lang dismissed option 2 and weighed options 1 and 3. Just as he was about to pick option 1, a random short video flashed in his mind. Shen Lang wasn’t sure what Xia Shuyi’s family situation was, but since she openly invited a guy over to dinner, she was probably divorced or her husband wasn’t around. That made sense—who doesn’t love their child? Especially a single woman like Xia Shuyi, who’s probably divorced; she’d value her kid more than most.

So Shen Lang steered the conversation to talk about her daughter. Xia Shuyi practically opened the floodgates; her replies switched from text to voice messages.
