- Chapter 180 - What Should Mother Goddess's Husband Be Called? (4/5)
But Tara’s brain was almost burning out. She couldn’t retrieve any related vocabulary from her memory. Finally, she gave up struggling and bowed her head towards Ciel in shame.
“I am very sorry, Lord Ciel…”
Tara said shamefacedly, “Your foolish servant truly does not know what to call your hu… husband, please enlighten me, Lord Ciel.”
Husband?
Avena and Ciel were almost simultaneously stunned.
And Avena, upon hearing this address, didn’t even realize her chest had slightly puffed out. She slowly reached out and directly wrapped her arm around Ciel’s shoulder, saying, “You can just call me Avena… I agree. This child can come with us to Ansu City.”
All the misunderstandings from just now vanished into thin air. In Avena’s eyes, the bowing Tara looked more and more pleasing to the eye.
As expected of someone from the organization behind Ciel. The person sent can tell at a glance who is in charge. Everyone can see it. Only Ciel herself is being stubborn. Is she somewhat opposing the general public?
Avena was very satisfied with this insightful new follower.
Originally, Ciel thought Avena would be a little resistant, but Tara’s words seemed to have put Avena in a very good mood. Ciel didn’t say anything either. She just looked at Tara and said somewhat helplessly, “You can just call her Miss Avena.”
“Okay, I understand…”
Tara slightly nodded, then said, “Will this servant staying here disturb you, Lord Ciel? Or should I leave for a while…”
“It’s alright. Go have dinner… Later, you can go find the knight named Nia. She will tell you what you need to do. Just stay by her side.”
Avena showed a faint smile, then released her arm from around Ciel’s shoulder and turned to walk out of the room.
“Sigh…”
Ciel shook her head.
She didn’t know why Avena had such a strong obsession with who was dominant and who was submissive… But as long as she was happy, the outcome wouldn’t change anyway.
Ciel followed Avena’s pace, glanced back at Tara, and motioned for her to follow as well.
After having dinner with Avena, Ciel returned to the room to take a bath.
Tara was taken by Nia to meet the butler and learned about the rules of the manor.
Nia also understood Tara’s identity. She was more like Ciel’s “attendant.” However, Nia felt this little girl was strange. She seemed a little absent-minded all evening.
And Tara spent most of the evening thinking about Avena and Ciel, falling into frantic self-denial.
Did Mother Goddess actually find a female companion in this world… Did Mother Goddess actually have emotional preferences, and even like women…
And I am a woman.
Could it be… me too…
No no no, Tara, how can you think of such disrespectful things?
But… who says a deity can’t have multiple companions at the same time? Look at the Church of the God of Order over there. The relationships between deities in their scripture are a tangled mess. Companions start at dozens…
So, does that mean I have a good chance…
Tara! Loyalty! Stop thinking about these things!
But Mother Goddess smells so good…
Tara fell into self-criticism and self-reflection. She probably wouldn’t be able to make sense of it in her mind for a long time.
All of this stemmed from Tara observing the “human” side of Mother Goddess besides her “divine” side. The thought of potentially pressing Mother Goddess onto the bed made Tara’s imagination run wild.
No no no, being pressed down is also fine, being pressed down is also fine…
Meanwhile, in Avena’s room, Avena, who had finished bathing, looked at Ciel, who was still reading, and asked, “Was that explosion caused by you?”
“Mm. This way, it won’t leave traces easily,”
Ciel nodded and said, “I also had Tara deal with the remnants of the Society of Merriment and control their captain.”
“…That was so dangerous. I should have had Nia go with you.”
Avena said as she sat down beside Ciel.
Ciel also moved slightly, leaving a spot for Avena. They wouldn’t be crowded sitting on the same chair.
Avena took out some ointment from somewhere and carefully applied it to Ciel’s facial wounds. Ciel continued to read, letting Avena operate on her face.
“Why did your organization suddenly send someone to be with you?”
Avena asked curiously, “Is it surveillance?”
Although the girl named Tara was quite likable, the organization had almost always “released” Ciel before. Suddenly sending someone to be with her. Avena didn’t think things were that simple.
“Perhaps as a precaution,”
Ciel shook her head and said, “I’m not sure either.”
“I hope nothing unexpected happens…”
Avena sighed softly. She had finally been able to catch her breath recently. Avena still hoped things would continue to be this peaceful.
“Time for healing, Ciel.”
Avena turned sideways and said to Ciel.
“Mm.”
Ciel put down the book, turned to face Avena, and slowly closed her eyes.
As the gentle lullaby was hummed, Ciel slowly fell into a deep sleep, falling towards Avena.
…
The next day, July 10th, Sir’s Bridge District, Manor No. 15.
Early in the morning, a rare guest arrived outside the manor.
“Miss Adele, Young Mistress Avena and Miss Ciel are having breakfast. Please come with me.”
A silver-haired figure followed the maid all the way into the mansion, heading towards the dining room.
Just as Adele was standing in the hall waiting for the maid to announce her, Ciel and Avena walked out of the dining room.
“Adele, good morning.”
Avena slightly nodded at Adele, then looked at the reception room beside them and said, “Over here.”
“Morning, Avena, Ciel.”
Adele looked at Ciel with some curiosity, greeting as she walked.
“Morning.”
Ciel nodded. She looked at Adele’s dark circles with some curiosity and asked, “Didn’t you sleep well last night?”
“I didn’t sleep at all…”
Adele said with slumped shoulders and a spaced-out look, “But I drank a bottle of energy potion.”
After they were all seated in the reception room, Ciel asked somewhat curiously, “What happened, Adele?”
Adele hadn’t slept at all last night and came to see them directly this morning. She likely had something important to say.
“I was supposed to come yesterday, but something came up…”
Adele looked at Ciel and said, “My sister told me to go to Ansu City with you. She said she would finish her matters here soon and also return to Ansu City.”
“That’s good.”
Ciel nodded and asked, “What were you busy with yesterday? I went to the clinic, but I didn’t see you.”
“I heard from the nurse…”
Upon hearing Ciel mention this, Adele seemed to get excited. She said, “Yesterday I took a plant infected with a disease to see Amy…”
As if afraid Ciel and Avena would worry, Adele added, “This disease won’t affect ordinary people at all.”
Went to see Amy?
“Miss Amy is not a transcendent, is she?”
Avena took a sip of black tea and asked, “Why did you take an infected plant to see her?”
This was also the question Ciel wanted to ask.
