- Chapter 220 - What Qualifications Do You Have? (1/3)
Knock knock knock—
A knock on the door echoed.
Nia, inside the room, could tell who was standing outside by the force of the knock.
She walked to the door and opened it. Tara was standing outside.
“What is it?” Nia looked down at Tara and asked in a low voice.
“Nothing major, just a little accident. The maid was startled.”
Tara said this and walked directly into the room, heading towards the dressing room.
“What are you doing?” Nia looked at Tara, who was walking towards the dressing room, and asked somewhat confusedly.
“Getting a set of clothes for Lord Ciel.”
Tara said this and directly opened the door to the dressing room, taking a set of Avena’s nightgown—she felt that Lord Mother Goddess seemed to really want to sleep. After coming out, she walked directly towards the door, went around Nia, and headed towards the stairs.
Ciel… is back?
Nia, holding the doorknob, remained frozen in place. Only after Tara’s figure disappeared did she turn to look in Avena’s direction.
Avena at this moment was still looking at the book before her. Clearly, she hadn’t heard anything just now.
After hesitating for a moment, Nia walked behind Avena and reminded her softly, “Miss Avena… Tara just said… she got a set of clothes for Ciel…”
“I know. I just need quiet now, Nia…”
Avena waved her hand without turning her head and said expressionlessly.
But quickly, Avena’s hand froze in mid-air. She mechanically turned her head and looked at Nia for two seconds.
Thud—
“Hiss…”
Avena suddenly stood up, but her knee directly hit the leg of the table. The pain made her gasp.
But Avena didn’t stop moving. She ran directly towards the door.
“Left, left, the downstairs bathroom! Young Mistress!”
Seeing Avena running in the wrong direction, Nia quickly chased after her.
…
In the bathroom, Ciel, completely soaked, reluctantly and slowly walked out of the bathtub. After roughly drying herself with a towel, she directly put on the nightgown Tara handed her. Without even drying her hair, she wobbled directly out of the bathroom.
“Tara… which room can I sleep in…”
“Lord Ciel, I will take you.”
Ciel followed Tara directly to the nearest guest room. After entering the room, she lay down directly on the bed. Her wet hair left watermarks on the bed, but she seemed completely unconcerned. She directly closed her eyes.
It was as if she would die immediately if she didn’t fall asleep a second sooner.
Looking at Ciel before her, Tara’s expression gradually softened, and a faint smile appeared on her lips.
She knew that Lord Mother Goddess would return soon—she had never doubted it.
She just didn’t know what kind of earth-shattering feats Lord Mother Goddess had accomplished during her absence. She could only feel that Lord Mother Goddess seemed to have regained another path’s power.
But Tara’s smile didn’t last long before she heard footsteps and commotion in the hallway outside. She slightly frowned, turned, and gently opened the door, looking out into the hallway.
After exchanging glances with Avena, who was standing by the bathroom door, Tara put her index finger to her lips, “Shh… Lord Ciel is sleeping…”
Avena, standing by the bathroom door, was panting. She walked step by step towards Tara.
It seems Lord Mother Goddess’s sleep is about to end just as it began.
Tara sighed inwardly with resignation. She moved aside slightly, allowing Avena to walk directly into the room. Then she reached out and closed the door.
At this moment, Nia walked to the door and looked down at Tara, asking curiously, “She… she’s really resurrected?”
“Resurrected?” Tara glanced at Nia and said indifferently, “Lord Ciel is immortal.”
Nia didn’t refute Tara’s words. From her understanding during this time, she also knew that this child had an extreme obsession and admiration for Ciel. At least Nia found this mindset difficult to understand.
Meanwhile, inside the room.
Avena looked at the figure slumped on the bed, slowly approaching little by little.
The figure wearing her nightgown, her calves were almost suspended outside the mattress. The water stains on her legs seemed not to have been wiped dry, and crystal clear water droplets flowed down the curve of her calves to her fair soles, dripping onto the carpet.
Looking up, the half-wet, thin white nightgown clung to her skin. One could almost see the color of her skin through the nightgown.
Avena’s eyes swept past the two pointed protrusions and looked at the figure’s face.
Undoubtedly, even though her hair color had changed, this was the person she had longed for day and night.
Avena blinked her eyes, only feeling a burning sensation in her eye sockets. She carefully walked to the girl’s side and sat down beside her.
Her gaze rested on the bone vine wrapped around Ciel’s hand. The blood-colored worms, hanging from it like vines, were slightly wriggling. It was as if ugly monsters had grown on exquisite jade sculptures, causing only intense visual shock.
This was a manifestation of the potion eroding her body… Those two bottles of potion that were put in were consumed by Ciel…
Avena raised her hand and gently placed it on the bone vine on Ciel’s hand. The bone vine seemed to feel Avena’s touch, slightly trembling, as if responding.
The sensation of others touching the vine seemed to be somewhat sensitive to Ciel.
Ciel, who had only just fallen asleep, slightly lifted an eyelid and looked at Avena sitting beside her.
“Good evening…”
Ciel smiled and greeted weakly.
“Ciel…”
Although it was still afternoon, Avena didn’t correct Ciel’s greeting. When she heard Ciel’s familiar voice, the burning sensation in her eyes could no longer be controlled.
She directly raised her right arm and shielded her face, blocking the tears from flowing down.
Although Ciel had had Tara give her a “preventive shot” before, Ciel’s previous state truly was no different from being dead. Moreover, she had paid a large sum to invite a “Reborn” from the Redemption Society to study the virus on Ciel, and that “Reborn” had also concluded that it was definitely fatal.
One must know that Adele, who was infected with the exact same virus, had truly died…
God knows how she had endured during this time.
