- Chapter 271 - Tier 4 "Nightmare" and Common Sense Modification (2/4)
Ciel’s calm mind was still at work.
If it were the usual Avena, even if she cared about her, she would only keep a cold face in front of outsiders. Only when they were alone, or in the dark, would she weakly ask if she was okay.
Now, besides Tara, there were several other maids and attendants present, yet Avena seemed to have no intention of caring about her image.
This was not right.
Ciel directly took Avena’s hand. Without waiting for her to ask, she immediately pulled her upstairs to a room and closed the door.
Avena was bewildered throughout. Only after Ciel pulled her into the room and closed the door did she ask in a low voice, “What’s wrong? Ciel…”
“I feel very…”
Ciel recalled everything since waking up, her brows slightly furrowed, searching for a suitable word in her mind.
Soon, she found the appropriate words to describe it.
“Very unreasonable… very strange…”
Ciel held Avena’s hand with her right hand and gently rubbed her left temple with her left hand. She said, “But I can’t say what’s strange.”
“Strange?”
Avena looked at Ciel before her and asked hesitantly, “Are you… too tired?”
“No, I’m not tired. My mind is in excellent condition.”
Ciel released Avena’s hand, glanced at the pale pink scented candle burning on the bedside table, and walked directly to the window. She parted the curtains a crack and looked at the crowd below, which was gradually dispersing under the police’s escort.
A constant feeling of coolness surged in Ciel’s mind, telling her that she was still maintaining calm, independent thought.
Why did she feel strange?
Where was the strangeness?
Ciel reviewed her memories from beginning to end, but found nothing strange, not until she traced her memories to a place filled with concrete and steel. Then, she finally noticed the peculiarity.
The farmers, reporters, workers, and police dispersing the crowd below… without exception…
All of them were women.
Ciel’s calm mind told her…
This is too strange…
“Don’t you think it’s strange?”
Ciel seemed to have grasped a clue. She pointed to the crowd below and said to Avena, “They’re all women down there, every single one of them.”
“This…”
Avena seemed to not quite understand what Ciel meant. After hesitating for a moment, she slowly said, “Is that… strange?”
“Yes, think about it…”
Ciel recalled the scene she had seen earlier in the conference room. She looked at Avena and continued, “You see, your mother, Lady Winston, is a woman, correct?”
“Of course.”
Avena subtly nodded.
“But your father Charles is also a woman…”
Ciel grasped the key point and asked directly, “How can two women have a child? How can they have you?”
“Huh?”
Avena looked at Ciel with some surprise, her expression a little strange. After a while, she slowly stepped forward and gently placed the back of her hand on Ciel’s forehead.
No fever…
“For women to have children together… isn’t that a very normal thing?”
Avena looked at Ciel’s eyes with some worry. “What’s wrong with you, Ciel…”
Oh right…
This is no longer the original world…
Here, it’s normal for women to have children together…
I’ve really been too busy and confused lately…
No…
Calm Mind continued to function. Ciel looked directly into Avena’s eyes and asked directly, “No… Avena… How exactly do two women have children? They don’t have that function?”
Ciel reached out and grabbed Avena’s wrist. She seemed to have grasped a blind spot and needed Avena to provide an answer.
But Ciel’s words and actions made Avena subtly step back. However, because her wrist was held, she couldn’t retreat very far.
A faint blush appeared on her face. She looked at Ciel, and her voice began to stutter.
“I… we just got engaged recently… we’re not even adults yet… this… this…”
Seeing Avena’s panic at this moment, Ciel released her hand with some self-reproach and said, “I’m sorry… Avena, I didn’t intend to force you to do anything…”
Ciel raised her hand to her forehead.
Her mind was clearly very lucid, but the chaotic feeling brought by the interweaving of memories in her brain made her confused, as if something was covered by a thin mist, completely forgotten by Ciel.
But even the act of forgetting these things was forgotten by Ciel.
“You’re tired, Ciel.”
Avena walked to Ciel, and said softly, “Do you want to rest for a while?”
“Alright…”
Avena’s voice seemed to have a strange magic, calming Ciel’s previously agitated mind.
She was helped by Avena to the bedside and lay down on the bed with Avena’s attendance.
The room with tightly closed curtains was somewhat dim. At this moment, the only light source was the pink scented candle. The flickering candlelight made Ciel feel a little uncomfortable.
She slowly raised her hand, wanting to extinguish the flame directly with the small golden spoon beside her, but as soon as Ciel’s hand reached out, it was stopped by Avena.
“Rest.”
Avena’s voice gradually became ethereal in Ciel’s consciousness. Just as Ciel’s consciousness gradually settled into peace, a bone-chilling coldness flowed through Ciel’s mind.
This icy sensation, as if someone had directly pierced Ciel’s brain with ice, instantly sobered her previously drowsy mind. She fiercely opened her eyes, meeting Avena’s slightly surprised gaze.
“I can’t sleep yet. I still have some things to do,”
Ciel sat up from the bed. She rubbed her forehead and immediately stood up. “Please wait a moment.”
Ciel stood up and walked to the desk, beginning to quickly search through it. Soon, she found several blank notebooks, but Ciel quickly tossed them aside.
“Can you help me call Tara over?”
Ciel turned her head to look in Avena’s direction.
“Okay.”
Avena didn’t say much. She just nodded, stood up, and left the room, not even asking Ciel what she was doing.
