The Speedrun Manual of Miss Witch - Chapter 279
Although she said she wouldn’t go together, Avena still took Ciel and Adele in her carriage for a ride, dropping them off at the entrance of Ansu Redemption Medical College.
This medical college was quite far from the core areas of Ansu, located almost in the northern suburbs. It was sparsely populated and quiet, one of the few places in Ansu City where green plants could be seen.
It appeared to be an ordinary medical college that also admitted regular students, divided into several departments. Only those with exceptional medical talent would be absorbed into the Redemption Society and enter the realm of mysticism.
One significant difference between the Redemption Medical College and other colleges or universities was that they also admitted female students—after all, transcendent talent was not distinguished by gender. So, here, one could see many female students in white coats walking around.
After dropping Ciel and Adele off here, Avena left directly, leaving Ciel and Adele standing at the college entrance. Tara and Percy, meanwhile, hid in the shadows, melting into them.
“Wow… Is this the new Redemption Medical College…?” Adele exclaimed, looking at the beautiful and grand school gate before her.
“You haven’t been here?” Ciel blinked at Adele, looking at her.
Wasn’t she a member of the Redemption Society before?
“I did a short period of advanced study here,” Adele nodded and said, “But after I graduated and went to Berren City, the college was renovated. I haven’t seen what it looks like after the renovation.”
Did her alma mater get renovated after she graduated? That’s quite a life.
At the entrance, someone seemed to be waiting for Adele. Upon seeing Adele disembark from the carriage, he walked towards them.
“Ms. Adele, please come this way.” A young man, clearly older than Adele, bowed slightly to Adele and said, “The professor is waiting for you inside… And this is…”
“This is my good friend. She’s also here to see Professor Ashford.” Adele, standing behind Ciel, subtly leaned forward, her chin almost resting on Ciel’s head.
“Please wait a moment. I’ll go ask the professor… My apologies.”
Seemingly inexperienced in handling this situation, the young man bowed slightly to Adele and Ciel, then turned and quickly walked into the college.
At this moment, Ciel, shrouded in shadow, could not resist. She lightly stood on her tiptoes, her head directly bumping Adele’s chin.
“Ouch—” Adele, who had bitten her tongue from the sudden bump, took two steps back, sticking out her tongue and panting, constantly fanning her tongue with her hand, as if doing so could alleviate some of the pain.
“Whash are you doing (What are you doing)?” Adele mumbled indistinctly, her expression a little wronged.
She completely unaware that her seemingly unintentional movement just now had caused considerable real damage to Ciel, who was dwarfed by her height.
“I’m sorry, it was an accident.” Ciel said half-heartedly.
“It’s alright~” Adele retracted her tongue, smiled, and looked at Ciel, “Everyone has their clumsy moments. No need to apologize.”
Adele seemed completely unaffected by the little incident just now, just smiling foolishly at Ciel. This, instead, made Ciel feel a little guilty.
“Have you always studied with Sherlon in Berren City before?” To change the subject and avoid the guilt of bullying a silly girl, Ciel started talking about Adele. “I don’t think I’ve ever heard you talk about how you started studying medicine.”
“Yes, let me see…” Adele seemed to have forgotten how she embarked on this path herself. She folded her arms across her chest and lowered her head in thought for a long time. Then she opened her eyes and looked at Ciel, “When my sister was taken to the church, I also wanted to be with her, so I studied very hard…”
“But after several assessments at the orphanage, those church people all said I had no faith… Later, a church physician recommended me to the church hospital in Berren City. That’s where I met Sherlon…”
Ciel’s words made Adele fall into memories. She smiled and shared some interesting things from her time studying medicine that she had just recalled, but after only a few stories, she seemed to get stuck.
She really wanted to share some interesting things with Ciel, but there was hardly anything particularly interesting during her days as Sherlon’s student.
Classes, memorizing books, doing experiments, writing papers, calculating when her sister’s letters would arrive, calculating when she would have a long enough holiday to visit her sister in Ansu.
“Oh, and another time, when I was moving things into the storage room, the other students forgot I was inside and locked the door from the outside. I was stuck in there with a dozen skeletal specimens for a night. The day after that, I wasn’t afraid of dissections anymore!”
Saying this, Adele raised her chin and said proudly, “Amazing, right~”
Isn’t that just being bullied?
“Come here.” Ciel looked up at Adele and gestured to her.
“What’s wrong?” Adele slightly leaned down, bringing her face close to Ciel’s, blinking and asking curiously.
Ciel reached out and lightly pinched Adele’s face, saying, “Silly.”
Adele was slightly stunned. The feeling of being pinched on the face reminded her of her sister, Uris… she loved pinching people’s faces.
But soon, Adele reacted. She puffed out her cheeks in anger, looking at Ciel with a wronged expression and saying, “You’re bullying me again…”
Just as Adele was about to say something more, the young man’s figure from before reappeared. He quickly walked to Ciel and Adele, and said, “Ms. Adele, and this young lady, please follow me.”
Ciel released her hand and followed the young man. Adele also covered her face and followed closely behind Ciel.
This was Ciel’s first time visiting a college.
The buildings here were beautiful and grand, not outdated even in Ciel’s eyes.
The laughing students walking together, the naive young man leading the way, and the beautiful school… This made Ciel feel as if she had traveled through time.
The life these students lived was what Ciel had once envied and strived for… But after experiencing so much, her initial aspirations had almost been worn away.
If she were to stay at this college, it would probably turn into ruins in no time…
At least Nemesis would stack quite a bit.
Ciel was very self-aware of this.
