- Chapter 2.1 - Saving Huo Jun (1.1)
Before it got dark, Qin Ke finally found the sign for the Hell bar at the end of the back street of Qiande High School.
Just as she was about to go over, she saw three or four girls turn into this street from the corner of the long street opposite.
Recognizing the leading girl as Qin Yan, Qin Ke paused and quickly hid behind a nearby sign.
“Finally found it, this is the place, right?”
“Yes. Last time I came, the security at the door wouldn’t let me in, but this time there’s no one guarding the door.”
“Let’s go quickly then, they said Huo Jun is already here!”
“Yan Yan, you look so beautiful tonight, Huo Jun will definitely notice you.”
“Yeah, I’m so envious of you, Qin Yan, if only I were as pretty as you!”
“By the way, Yan Yan, how’s it going with Qin Ke, did you persuade her?”
Hearing her own name, Qin Ke’s eyes flickered. Then she heard the familiar voice of Qin Yan, filled with mockery—
“She? I coaxed her into changing her major in just a few words. Don’t worry, when school starts again, there won’t be such an eyesore in the school.”
“It seems that no one in the school can compete with you for Huo Jun…”
The conversation of the group of girls disappeared inside the door.
After patiently waiting for another minute, Qin Ke slowly emerged from behind the sign.
Under the mottled light of the sign, the girl’s cold, pretty face and her black pupils slowly deepened.
She paused for a few seconds, then turned and walked into Hell.
Two minutes later.
Qin Ke stood among the students who were having a blast, her eyebrows furrowed, and she sighed. This sigh was quickly drowned in the boundless noise.
Carefully passing a female student who seemed to have been electrocuted, Qin Ke sidestepped, finally finding a slightly quieter spot.
She looked up, surveyed the surroundings, and her brows furrowed tighter.
Qin Ke had a mild case of night blindness. What she was least adapted to was this kind of semi-dark lighting scenario. Apart from the dazzling, colorful lights above her head making her dizzy, she could hardly see any person or thing more than a meter away in the bar.
Even when she opened her mouth to say “ah”, she couldn’t hear her own voice.
…How was she supposed to find Huo Jun like this?
Qin Ke was worried when she suddenly felt that she had stepped on a different texture on the ground.
She looked down and, with the help of a spotlight that had just been turned on, she saw the ground beneath her feet – covered with a layer of burgundy velvet carpet.
Qin Ke’s eyes lit up slightly.
She quickly turned around and groped forward two steps, and sure enough, she touched a cold and smooth black object in the dark. It was a grand piano.
Qin Ke remembered that a girl named Song Lili had said that Huo Jun would play the piano tonight. So as long as she waited here, she didn’t need to go looking for him, and Huo Jun would appear, right?
Qin Ke calmed down, and her suppressed mood in the noisy chaos became much more pleasant.
She moved her feet and groped her way to sit on the piano stool next to her.
……….
Across the dance floor at an angle.
In a high corner of the bar that overlooked the entire bar thanks to several steps, there was a round sofa, and in front of the sofa were various bottles of foreign wine on a crystal table.
People who often came to the Hell bar knew that this was the special seat for Huo Jun and his friends. Even if they weren’t there usually, no one dared to touch this spot. So most of the time, this sofa was empty–but not tonight.
On one side of the sofa, there were two boys holding wine glasses, clinking them in the air from time to time. And across from them, a figure was leaning in the deepest part of the sofa.
A thin black jacket covered his upper body from the hood down. Below, a thin T-shirt was pulled up a bit by his casual sleeping posture, revealing a sharp waist and abdomen, and the beautiful and firm muscle lines that led people’s thoughts into his waistband.
Outwardly, his long legs were in thin boots, casually resting on the crystal table across from him, wrapped in black pants that gave a sense of sleek and straight beauty.
Down on the dance floor below the steps, countless gazes swept over, pretending to be unintentional.
And in this noisy music, this person was sleeping undisturbed.
Until someone stepped on the steps, approached the sofa, and lifted the jacket that was covering his head–
“Young Master Huo, still sleeping?”
“…”
The dazzling spotlight fell, revealing a cold and handsome face.
Thin lips, straight nose, peach blossom eyes.
Under the eyelids, the fine eyelashes trembled, opened, revealing a pair of pitch-black pupils mixed with heavy sleepiness.
The light turned half a circle in the pupil, washing away the annoyed look, and finally clear.
The boy clicked his tongue in impatience.
He brushed off the wine glass that was handed to him, pulled back his legs, stepped down to the ground, and pinched his brow with his shoulders tense.
The person whose hand was brushed off was not angry, but instead laughed “hehe”, and sat down next to the boy.
“Young Master Huo, did you spend all night in the land of beauties last night? Otherwise, why do you look so drained?”
Huo Jun didn’t speak. The two brothers across from him who had been clinking glasses all night looked up, one of them laughing.
“Isn’t that so? The old man of the Huo family summoned this unworthy grandson to Sijiu City overnight, truly a ‘battle through the night’.”
“So exciting?”
Wei Sheng, who had previously lifted the jacket, laughed with schadenfreude upon hearing this.
“Young Master Huo, you’re almost of age, and your grandfather still hasn’t let you go, trying to make you turn over a new leaf, huh?”
“…”
Thinking of that round of criticism, Huo Jun also laughed mockingly.
He casually raised his eyes, his slender fingers holding up a wine glass. Just as he was about to say something, two figures suddenly emerged from the dance floor below the steps.
The one in front was wearing a bright red tube dress, her eyeshadow shining under the light. It was Qin Yan.
“Brother Jun.” She held a tall glass in her hand, her expression shy but a bit bold, “I heard today is your birthday, can I toast you a drink?”
“..…”
Huo Jun’s finger bones holding the glass paused.
Wei Sheng on the side laughed, lowered his voice and leaned over, “This is a thoughtful girl, she even knows it’s your birthday today?”
Huo Jun gave him a cold glance, his gaze falling. He tugged at the corner of his mouth, lazily leaned into the sofa, and stretched his foot to step on the crystal table.
His eyes were contemptuous.
“Who’s talking nonsense?”
Qin Yan’s face turned pale. She was famous for her beauty in high school, and she never thought that Huo Jun would not give her face like this.
Qiao Jin and Qiao Yu across from her were also somewhat surprised. The two looked at each other, and Qiao Jin on the outside laughed.
“Brother Jun doesn’t celebrate his birthday by the date, but by his mood. But this drink can’t be wasted, how about toasting her?”
Qin Yan was awkwardly unable to step down at this moment, and naturally, she was more than willing to hear this.
She sneaked a glance at Huo Jun, seeing that his gaze had not fallen on her again, she couldn’t help feeling frustrated, and lifted her skirt to step up.
