There’re Always Paranoid Thoughts to Monopolize Me - Chapter 32.2
Qin Ke turned to look and made eye contact with the chubby-faced little boy. She smiled with her eyes curved.
“Hello there.”
“…”
The little boy was dazed for a moment, then suddenly shyly hid behind his mother’s legs.
The young mother was startled.
“Lin Lin? Say hello to the big sister. Why are you being so impolite?”
“…”
After much huffing and puffing, the little boy finally managed to squeeze out a “Big sister” with a red face.
Qin Ke smiled so widely her eyes curved into crescents.
The boy soon ran off to play nearby, not going far, just staying in the playground area. The young mother was clearly quite tired. She sat on the bench watching her son from afar while chatting casually with Qin Ke.
Two minutes later, the little boy in Qin Ke and the young mother’s view suddenly started saying something to an older playmate. The little boy looked a bit excited and pointed forcefully in the direction of Qin Ke and his mother.
Qin Ke was taken aback.
She initially thought it was her imagination, but after watching for two more seconds, she noticed that the boy, who looked about 12 or 13 years old, seriously glanced at her and then looked down at his palm.
Then, before Qin Ke could react, the older boy turned and ran away.
Qin Ke was confused.
A few seconds later, the little boy ran back, excitedly talking to his mother while carefully glancing at Qin Ke.
“Mommy… just now a big brother was looking for the pretty big sister.”
The young mother was startled, not understanding, “What pretty big sister?”
The little boy pointed at Qin Ke, serious and solemn.
“Pretty big sister.”
Both the young mother and Qin Ke were stunned for a moment, then the young mother laughed and gently tapped the boy’s nose.
“Since when did you become so sweet-talking, Lin Lin?” the young mother said, then added, a bit puzzled, “Did you mistake someone? The pretty big sister is here waiting for someone, she doesn’t need to be found.”
The little boy became anxious and waved his hands, “No, no, I saw it!”
“Saw what?”
“That square…”
Just as the little boy was trying hard to explain and Qin Ke was listening intently, a tall shadow suddenly fell over her.
Qin Ke instinctively turned to look.
She met Huo Jingyan’s warm and humorous smile, “I thought I could be a gentleman by arriving half an hour early, but I didn’t expect to meet a lady who arrived more than half an hour early?”
Qin Ke came to her senses and stood up with a smile.
“Teacher Huo.”
Huo Jingyan nodded casually, then asked,
“Have you been waiting for a long time?”
“No,” Qin Ke blinked lightly, telling a little lie, “I just arrived too.”
Unexpectedly, as soon as she said this, the little boy next to her immediately exposed her —
“Mommy, mommy.”
“Hmm?”
“Pretty big sister is lying.”
“…”
“She came a long, long time ago! Mommy said, liars are not good children!”
“……”
The young mother looked at Qin Ke with a slightly embarrassed smile, while Qin Ke looked more awkwardly towards Huo Jingyan.
Huo Jingyan smiled and walked in front of the boy, crouching down to the boy’s eye level before speaking with a smile.
“Then you’re mistaken. This big sister said that because she didn’t want me to feel ashamed, so she is a good child.”
“…”
The little boy looked blankly towards his young mother.
Qin Ke recovered from the slight embarrassment of being exposed and spoke up. “Teacher Huo, shall we head towards the art gallery then? The art exhibition should be getting ready.”
Huo Jingyan stood up upon hearing this and joked, “I’m a ‘sinner’ who made my student wait for ‘a long, long time’, so the right to speak this afternoon should be yours – I’ll follow your lead.”
Qin Ke smiled lightly.
“Then I’ll lead the way.”
“Alright.”
“…”
Watching the two gradually walk away, the young mother took a long time to look away. She smiled and shook her head, gently pinching her son’s nose.
“Youth is wonderful, isn’t it, Lin Lin?”
The boy naturally didn’t understand what she meant.
But soon, the young mother seemed to remember something. Her gaze paused, and she curiously asked, “Lin Lin, the big brother you mentioned earlier who was looking for this pretty big sister, was it the one we just saw?”
The boy frowned and shook his head.
“That was an uncle, not a big brother.”
The young mother was surprised for a moment.
“Then are you sure it was looking for this big sister?”
“Yes! I saw it, a square little paper, with the big sister on it!”
The young mother thought for a moment, then realized, “You mean a photo?”
The boy nodded vigorously with a beaming smile.
But the young mother was stunned.
—
When they were chatting earlier, the girl had clearly said she was waiting for her teacher. How could there be a “big brother” looking for her?
